  1. HB0960 passes to the full Judiciary Committee with an amendment that will allow local governments to decide if city/local park carry can be allowed. HB0390 Passes to the full Judiciary Committee - As introduced, permits handgun carry permit holders to possess or carry a loaded rifle, loaded shotgun, or loaded magazine or clip therefore while in a motor vehicle.
  2. Here is the link to the meeting where the carry in local parks is supposed to be voted on today. Rolled from last week. http://tnga.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=36&event_id=152
  3. If you would like to see video where each bill is discussed follow this link: http://tnga.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=78&clip_id=438 Then click on the bill you are interested in and it will take you to where that bill is discussed during today's session.
  4. Here's the link to watch the proceedings: http://tnga.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=33&event_id=139
  5. Other than Naifeh who has done more than his share recently to stop pro gun bills from going through, I don't know if any of the permit holders in the State Legislature have worked against our cause. I wish every last one of our Representatives and Senators had permits. I think things would be a lot better for us all if they did.
  6. I'm 56 years old and I really can't remember a time when Paul Harvey wasn't on sometime during the day. He definitely had a unique way of delivering the news that made it interesting. And the "Rest of the Story" spots were always fascinating. He will be missed.
  7. I remember back about 15 years when the Cades Cove area set some kind of record for the area that summer for people being bit by copperheads. They blamed it on a drought that had forced the snakes to go searching for water.
  8. I got an encouraging reply from Bass and Matheny as well. Looks good. This committee is made up of six reps. Three Republicans and three Democrats. I think you can safely say that Sontany and Camper, unless they have seen the light in recent days, will not be with us. I think Watson, Bass and Matheny are with us. I don't know anything about Chad Faulkner other than he's a Republican. If he is with us, then it looks like a 4 to 2 vote in favor of going to the Judiciary Committee. Fingers crossed.
  9. Here are the Committee Members who will be meeting on these bills this week: Eric Watson Chairman: http://www.capitol.tn.gov/house/members/h22.html Janice Sontany Vice Chair: http://www.capitol.tn.gov/house/members/h53.html Eddie Bass: http://www.capitol.tn.gov/house/members/h65.html Karen Camper: http://www.capitol.tn.gov/house/members/h87.html Chad Faulkner: http://www.capitol.tn.gov/house/members/h36.html Judd Matheny: http://www.capitol.tn.gov/house/members/h47.html Go to the links above and get their phone numbers and email addresses. If calling Nashville is a long distance number for you, you can call 1-800-449-8366. Then, when prompted you can enter 1 and then the last 4 digits of the reps phone number.
  10. From one IDPA shooter and Kingsporter to another, welcome aboard.
  11. I was first made aware of this on another forum. I called the Wyoming Attorney Generals Office to confirm the facts as reported and its true. I was planning on goint to Wyoming next year on vacation. Now I'm going to have to make some changes in my plans. The following quote is from a directive sent out to all law enforcement agencies in the State. So Wyoming says that Tennessee does not disqualify persons who have been found guilty of misdemeanor drug convictions from having a gun permit so they will no longer honor our permits. Does anyone know what the law in Tenn. is for drug convictions. I would have thought a drug conviction of any kind whether felony or misdemeanor would prevent you from getting a permit.
  12. I have read about this in the past but never with as much detail. Thanks for posting the link.
  13. Ughhh, you might want to reconsider that statement: http://skinnymoose.com/moosedroppings/2006/05/27/tennessee-bear-attack-originally-posted-406/ http://www.tricities.com/tri/news/local/article/ap_florida_boy_survives_bear_attack_in_great_smokey_mtn_national_park/12594

  16. Nothing's changed, they all are!!!
  17. I used to ride a bike through a neighborhood where this one dog was particularly vicious acting toward me as I would ride past his house. I picked up a can of "dog spray" at the bike shop (I guess it was some form of pepper spray). The next time I rode and he came after me, I filled his eyes with the spray. He immediately yellped like he'd been shot and dove his face into the grass and started trying to wipe the stuff out of his eyes. He never came after me again after that. I've also used vinegar in a squirt gun that worked just as well the one time I used it.
  18. I think I could pull back my cover momentarily, just long enough to snap a picture. That's all I meant.
  19. Has anyone carried in the Smokey Mountains or another National Park since the new rule went into effect. I would like to go to the Smokies and get my picture made next to the Park sign with my gun showing before the rule gets changed back.
  20. Above average intelligence is not a requirement to hold elective office in the State of Tennessee.
  21. The Republicans kick him out! http://www.tennessean.com/article/20090209/NEWS0201/90209014/-1/RSS05
