  3. Me too. But it appears to me that Sontany and a few more are going to beat this horse to death and try to kill the whole thing by a thousand cuts. Once they got their foot in the door on allowing local control in local parks there is going to be no end to the "questions and clarifications" every week when it is brought back up. And let them beat down guns in local parks and then watch 'em start nitpicking State Parks after that. "We can't let people carry guns where people are playing sports in State Parks" yada, yada, yada!! It'll never stop.
  4. Watch the video on this link: http://tnga.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=78&clip_id=672 Click on HB0960 under the video screen. When I watch this I wonder "How does anything ever get done in Nashville?"
  5. HB0960 Parks Bill was rolled 1 week. HB0959 which concerns publishing information on permit holders was sent to Calendar and Rules.
  6. HB0962 Placed on cal. Calendar & Rules Committee for 03/19/2009
  7. Until this bill first got submitted, I didn't realize I was breaking the law either. And from talking with several of my shooting buddies neither did they. OH HAPPY DAY!!! I sure hope that's right.
  8. If you'll follow this link from the OP: http://tnga.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=4&clip_id=634 and click on HB0070 under the video screen you can watch the discussion on this bill and what it actually means. It was the most discussed bill today and I think there is still confusion about how it will apply.

  11. Over a year ago, another investigation took place by Newschannel 5 in Nashville about this same problem and was discussed here in great detail on this thread: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4887 If I remember correctly, it was found out that the Dept of Safety had lost its priveledge to do FBI background checks for a period of time due to some technicality. They continued to issue permits with only limited access to applicants criminal histories and that was why some individuals who should not have been given permits were issued them anyway. Does anybody remember the details about this? I don't have time right now to research this out. The reason I'm bringing this up is it seems that most if not all of the thugs pictured in the CA newstory were issued permits during the time the Dept of Safety was screwing up the system. I may be off base on this but it really looks like the CA is just putting a new face on an old story that has supposedly been resolved by the Dept. of Safety. Am I wrong?
  12. Good job dude. Remind me to never tell you anything about anything I believe, or have believed, or think I believe, or no longer believe. I just couldn't defend myself from your interogation.
  13. I tried Fallguy's link and couldn't get it either. Here is the link I watched it on. http://tnga.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=2&clip_id=559 Scroll down under the video screen until you come to HB0254 and then click on it. It will take you right to the fireworks.
  14. After watching the video of this in the archive it seems to me there is a lot of pent up anger on the part of some people regarding this thumb print bill. Its obvious that Naifeh doesn't like his new role as just another representative with no power to control things. And did you notice that last jab at Kent Williams about how the bill should have went back to Finance since there was no fiscal note attached to the bill. After all was said and done, the bill passed with a pretty big margin. I hope this is indicative of how the rest of them are going to go.
  15. My guess is that all of the provisions in this bill is covered in other bills that are making their way through the committees. *HB 0724 by *Kelsey ( SB 1129 by *Norris) Firearms and Ammunition - As introduced, allows persons with handgun carry permit to carry in public parks, public postsecondary institutions, and places where alcoholic beverages are being served; allows judges to carry firearms where law enforcement can carry if they have permit or appropriate training. - Amends TCA Title 39, Chapter 17, Part 13 and Title 70.
  16. Criminal Practice and Procedure is meeting now: http://tnga.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=36&event_id=152 Watch for these bills: 7. *HB0798 by *Campfield. (SB1261 by *Bunch.) Firearms and Ammunition - As introduced, authorizes full-time faculty and staff at public colleges and universities in Tennessee to carry handguns if not otherwise prohibited by law. - Amends TCA Title 39, Chapter 17, Part 13. 8. *HB0823 by *Campfield. (SB1248 by *Bunch.) Firearms and Ammunition - As introduced, authorizes certain law enforcement officers and military personnel to carry weapons on public colleges and universities. - Amends TCA Title 39, Chapter 17, Part 13. 17. *HB1395 by *Evans. 18. A+ on effort, F- on success, but it sounds like being made "captain of the Titanic" after the ship has nearly sunk isn't likely to produce good results no matter how hard you try. Sounds like you did a good job and hit all the right buttons. Too bad their minds appeared to be made up already. Its hard to change minds like that.
  19. HB0960 which will be voted on tomorrow 3/11/09 in the House Judiciary Committee was passed out of the subcommittee with an amendment to allow "local" parks (not state or federal) to opt in or out of allowing HCP holders to carry in the parks. You can click on this link: http://tnga.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=78&clip_id=448 and see the discussion that took place on 3/4/09 on this bill. Click on HB0960 in the menu under the video screen and go straight to the discussion on this bill.
  20. That certainly appears to be the intent of the bill. It always amazed me in the past that those of us who have our HCP could not transport a long gun that was loaded ( per TN definition of "loaded" ) and within reach. You are more than welcome. I just hope that this is the year we see many (if not all) of these improvements in TN law accomplished.

  22. Has anybody on here watched "Dollhouse"? I watched it last week and thought it was pretty good for a science fiction show. I watched it again last night and liked it as well but I was still a bit lost because I missed the first 2 episodes. So this morning I went to hulu.com and watched the first 2 shows and it cleared up a lot about what the show is about. The reason for this post is in one of the scenes in episode 2 "The Target", Echo (the character played by Elilza Dushku) is being hunted down by a bad guy with a bow in the woods. Her handler,Agent Langton finds her and hands her a gun with which to defend herself and then this conversation: Agent Langton: "Do you know how to use this?" Echo: "I have four brothers and none of them are Democrats!" . Then she racks the slide and goes to work shooting the bad guy. Me and my wife both about hit the floor laughing on that one.
  23. I don't know either but if that's not how they do it, it certainly ought to be that way.
