  2. Dave Carroll is a musician who flew on United and the Airline broke his Taylor Guitar. He tried to get them to replace it but they would not. So he decided to give them a lot of free publicity by writing a song and making a video about what happened. I heard on the radio yesterday that United has tried to get him to take his video off youtube and they would replace his guitar, but the Taylor Guitar folks have already given him several new guitars and he has over 6 million hits of people watching his video.

    p94 ruger

I bought a P-94 about 7 years ago and have put a considerable number of rounds through it and have never had a failure of any kind. This gun has proven to be totally reliable and trouble free. I've never regreted it for one minute. I started out shooting IDPA with it and found it to be (for me) not the best gun for that sport. I got an XD9 for that game and do reasonably well with it. But when I go on trips by plane or car, the P-94 is my traveling companion.
  4. Since Corker has already made his position known, I just sent a note to Lamar. We'll see.
  5. A real product with a hilarious advertising campaign.
  6. I heard Lord Monckton today on the radio. Very impressive. I think the man is right.
  7. I went back to Mahoney's yesterday and they still have LCPs for $299 and .380 ammo (American Eagle).

    Misfortion

Reading this thread reminded me of the desperate times me and my wife went through when we first got married. As most people know, the first year of marriage can be a trying time. I was 18 and she was 19 and we moved to Petersburg, Va. where I was stationed in the Air Force at Ft. Lee. Even with her working part time, our monthly income just barely got us through. One day we were literaly down to two chicken pot pies to last us until payday. While the pies were cooking in the oven we got into one of our daily (hourly) arguments and things were said that shouldn't have been said, but they were. When it was time to get the pies out of the oven, just as she was bent over and pulling the pies out, I said the wrong thing. As she raised up with the boiling pies in the pan, she gave the pan a sling and both pies came flying through the air right toward my face. Miraculously I ducked just in time to prevent my face from being slathered in boiling chicken juice. I didn't say anything else. But as bad as those days were, we stuck it out and found ways to make life fun. 39 years later and we're still together and laugh about the flying pies every once in a while. Life is a roller coaster and when you are down, don't despair, the road goes up just ahead.
  10. Thanks for posting that link. I read that whole thread on GT. It really is an incredible story. Really makes you think about how you would react in the same situation.
  11. I ain't saying anymore about that. It can only lead to trouble.
  12. Just got back from Mahoney's in Johnson City and they are having a big push on Ruger firearms today ( 10-16-09 ). The Ruger representative is there and he brought a lot of stuff with him. I asked one of the clerks how many LCPs they had and all he could say was "a bunch". I saw several people carrying out new LCPs and a couple of guys were carrying 2. They also have a lot of holsters for the LCP on the rack. I bought 2 boxes of American Eagle .380 for $29.99 for a box of 50 ( I know that's high but at least I got some) and it looked like they had a lot of it. And they are supposed to have Speer Gold Dot later today or tomorrow. And if that ain't reason enough to go, there is a georgous blonde lady I've never seen before working behind the counter that makes the trip worthwhile. Woo Hoo!!!
  13. Love it!!! Copied and pasted and sent to everyone I know. Too good to keep to ourselves.
  14. Hey man, that's the oldest trick in the book. About twenty minutes after you go to sleep you're going to find out just how funny she thought it was.
  15. Here is a video news report of the murder of a baby in New Mexico. It is especially graphic and heartbreaking. It is unfathonable that grown people can be so mean and cruel to a child, and to think that her mom and dad and uncle were the ones who did this to her.
  16. Thanks for the clarification. I knew I was missing something.
  17. I'm not familiar with the parks or greenways in Knoxville but I was wondering....if the trails run through both city and county park areas wouldn't the highlited area in the law posted below be in effect? Or is the city sections just owned by the city?... And the county sections just owned by the county? No shared ownership of sections of trails? If they are jointly owned the law says that both city and county must vote to prohibit the carry of firearms in their shared parks.
  18. Welcome from Kingsport. Where is your shop and what kind of work do you do?
  19. If you're a fisherman, you need to know about this. BASS Reporter's Notebook - ESPN There is a lot more info at the links in the above report.
  20. Got this in an email today....thought I'd pass it along. Were you a kid in the Fifties or earlier? Everybody makes fun of our childhood! Comedians joke. Grandkids snicker. Twenty year olds shudder and say "Eeeew!" But was our childhood really all that bad? Judge for yourself: In 1953, the US population was less than 150 million... yet you knew more people then, and knew them better... and that was good. The average annual salary was under $3,000... yet our parents could put some of it away for a rainy day and still live a decent life... and that was good. A loaf of bread cost about 15 cents... but it was safe for a five-year-old to skate to the store and buy one... and that was good. Prime-Time meant I Love Lucy, Ozzie and Harriet, Gun Smoke and Lassie... So nobody ever heard of ratings or filters... and that was good. We didn't have air-conditioning... so the windows stayed up and half a dozen mothers ran outside when you fell off your bike... and that was good. Your teacher was either Miss Matthews or Mrs. Logan or Mr. Adkins... but not Ms Becky or Mr. Dan... and that was good. The only hazardous material you knew about was a patch of grass burrs around the light pole at the corner... and that was good. You loved to climb into a fresh bed... because sheets were dried on the clothesline... and that was good. People generally lived in the same hometown with their relatives... so "child care" meant grandparents or aunts and uncles... and that was good. Parents were respected and their rules were the law.... Children did not talk back... and that was good. TV was in black-and-white... But all outdoors was in glorious color... and that was certainly good. Your Dad knew how to adjust everybody's carburetor... and the Dad next door knew how to adjust all the TV knobs... and that was very good. Your grandma grew snap beans in the back yard... and chickens behind the garage... and that was definitely good. And just when you were about to do something really bad... chances were you'd run into your Dad's high school coach... or the nosy old lady from up the street... or your little sister's piano teacher... or somebody from church.... all of whom knew your parents' phone number... And YOUR first name... And even THAT was good! REMEMBER... Send this on to someone who can still remember Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, Laurel & Hardy, Abbott & Costello, Sky King, Little Lulu comics, Brenda Starr, Howdy Doody and The Peanut Gallery, The Lone Ranger, The Shadow Knows Nellie Belle, Roy and Dale, Trigger and Buttermilk as well as the sound of a real mower on Saturday morning, and summers filled with bike rides, playing cowboy, playing hide and seek and kick-the-can and Simon Says, baseball games, amateur shows at the local theater before the Saturday matinee, bowling and visits to the pool...and eating Kool-Aid powder with sugar, and wax lips and bubblegum cigars. Didn't that feel good, just to go back and say, Yeah, I remember that! And was it really that long ago?
  21. If you're a fan of the National Park System you may want to tune in on the 27th when PBS begins the Ken Burns special on the National Parks. Here is a link to a 25 minute preview with links to shorter clips of the shows. The National Parks: America's Best Idea: Series Preview | PBS
  22. The last time I went to the one in Kingsport (two weeks ago) it wasn't posted.
