NYC gun charges dropped. Now I can Speak
waynesan replied to JG55's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Before traveling to Montana a few years ago and anticipating the possibility of being diverted to Chicago while on my way and having a handgun in my checked luggage, I posted a question on one of the national gun forums on how to handle a situation like this. The consensus of opinion was that no matter what, if I had to have a layover in a city or state where gun posession is illegal, DO NOT TAKE POSESSION OF YOUR LUGGAGE. Leave your luggage with the Airline. If you have to leave the airport and go to a motel, leave your luggage and just go without it and tough it out. Wear the same clothes the next day and buy a toothbrush if you must, but do not take posession of your luggage if there is a gun inside. And from the quote above it seems the court suggested the same thing. -
Anybody else looking forward to Justified season 3 starting up tonight.

I really looked forward to this show before the season began since I am a big fan of westerns. The first few episodes really left me disappointed as it seemed everything was dragging on and not ever getting anything done. But then along midseason all the character building started coming together. The episode where Bohannon taught Elam how to shoot a gun and survive a gunfight was great. And the shootout in the woods turned out to be a classic. And for unexpected shock value, the way the preacher disposed of the Union Sergeant in his tent caught me totally offguard. So the final several episodes redeemed this show from its lackluster beginning for me and I'm glad I stuck with it. Looking forward now to season 2.

what is on your adult beverage menu for the evening?
waynesan replied to Mike.357's topic in General Chat
Just finished a "Highland Black Mocha Stout" which has become my favorite. Highland Brewery makes several craft beers and they are all top notch, but the "Black Mocha Stout" is in a league of its own. -

I've read some good reviews of the "Foreign Extra" and would like to try it if I can ever find it. I'm not a fan of the other Guiness Beers but was hoping that this one would be the one to swing me over. -

Great job Photo, Very well done and a lot of good infromation. I also "liked" your facebook page. It's very well done as well. Shared it with several of my FB friends. -
I second the Pottery House Grill next to the Old Mill. Have had many good meals in this place. They have a pork chop that is crusted with praline pecans that is out of this world.

Really looking forward to this one. If the show is as good as the previews it aught to be a winner.

Good Time Girls of the Alaska-Yukon Gold Rush: Secret History of the Far North by Lael Morgan. I went to Alaska this summer on a two week vacation with my wife and ran across this book. It is a very entertaining report on the lives of the "soiled doves" who moved to the far north during the gold rush days in the Yukon and Alaska. Here is a short description:

The possible end to the ATF
waynesan replied to Mad_Squirrell's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Now there seems to be proof that the BATFE actually bought some of the guns (with our tax dollars) and sold them to cartel buyers. This is getting crazy. While looking through the TN State Parks Website I came across this section listed under "Park Policies." Notice the last part, Exception 4. Tennessee State Parks: Policies Firearms, traps and other weapons Exceptions to weapons prohibition provided below. In park, natural, and historical areas the use of traps, seines, handthrown spears, nets (except landing nets), firearms (including air and gas powered pistols and rifles), blow guns, bows and arrows or crossbows, and any other implements designed to discharge missiles in the air or under the water which are capable of destroying animal life is prohibited. The possession of such objects or implements is prohibited unless they are unloaded and adequately cased, or broken down or otherwise packed in such a way as to prevent their use while in the park areas. Exception 1: Shooters may use recreational target shooting ranges available for skeet, trap and bow and arrow target shooting within a park area as long as these weapons are properly cased when not on the range. Exception 2: Authorized Federal, State, County and City law enforcement officers may carry firearms in the performance of their official duties. Exception 3: Persons using park area facilities while participating in authorized open or managed hunts within the park areas or beyond, may use and possess firearms under the specific rules and regulations pertaining to the authorized hunt and only in the authorized hunting zones or compartments. Exception 4: While State Parks' rules and regulations prohibit firearm possession and use, Public Chapter 428 of 2009 created an exception in state firearms law that allows individuals with a valid "carry permit" under TCA § 39-17-1351 to carry a handgun within the boundaries of all state parks. While this new law makes an exception for possession, it does not make exception to the use of a firearm. Discharging a weapon in non-designated areas of our parks is still an offense. If a permit holder fires a weapon in self-defense, the holder bears the burden of proof to avoid potential charges under "prohibited firearm use."

Very interesting article. I'm sure there will be differing opinions on the research and what conclusions can be drawn, but he at least seems to support his conclusions with facts. Thanks for posting.

Close the gun show loophole...or you are supporting Al Qaeda?
waynesan replied to Zulu Cowboy's topic in General Chat
Whether or not a fully automatic weapon can be purchased at a gunshow, the purpose of the Jihadi video is to inspire like minded Miuslim extremists to become "Lone Wolf" warriors and attack America in the least expected places (such as Major Hasan at Fort Hood). I have said all along that the day will come when these Al Qaida types will start appearing in malls, ball games, church services, playgrounds, etc. and do whatever they can, using whatever weapon is at their disposal, and cause the most damage and death they can accomplish. And the "first responders" will be anyone who is ready and willing to use whatever force they have available at the time to fight back before the SWAT teams arrive. -
Seems as though there is at least one government official that sees the need for the ordinary citizens to be able to protect themselves. 7 killed in attacks in Mexican resort of Acapulco - Yahoo! News

Came across this video today and was bowled over by this song as sung by Patti Page. I have heard it before on radio but never saw the video of her singing it. Incredible. She was such a beautiful lady with a voice of an angel. It don't get any better than this.
