restrict the ability of residents to purchase firearms
LagerHead replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well as you know, the governor can't make laws so I'm guessing nobody there is holding their breath. -
Welcome. Seriously, what's it like being from Chattanooga?

Polls are open Get out there and vote!!

Voted on the way to work!. Punisher, your new Avatar is so full of win I can't even believe it. My eyes are bleeding from the awesomeness. -
Man, that sucks Dolomite. If ever there was a case for a good ole fashion @$$ whoopin', I believe that may be it. Not much worse than scumbag family. I know because I have my share too.

I forgot all about that until then. Hi-larious! But to be fair, I haven't always taken the high road in workplace disagreements. I once told my supervisor "I've been doing your job for the past 2 1/2 years, why should today be any different?" Luckily though, that didn't get me fired. But I sure was out of there the first chance I got. Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled program.

When did a denim jacket become a bullet proof vest?
LagerHead replied to Will Carry's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I've also heard it said, "If you find yourself in a fair fight, you're walking into an ambush." -
Hey guys, thanks to everyone who responded so quickly. I've used the straight edge technique with a circular saw, just never thought about using it with a router. I will also look into using bearings/edge guides. I've definitely got enough to get me through the "for dummies" phase.

Right you are. Lincoln did not believe that blacks and whites should live together. He believed that they should be given their own area of the country or sent back to Africa. And the founding fathers were not liberal. They were conservative. One of their biggest concerns was limited government states' rights. You see when the English started taking more and more control the states were losing their rights to the monarchy across the pond through the formation of forced confederations, like the Dominion of New England. The Dominion was forced upon the colonies by James II and combined Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire into a single government under a "royal governor." The states were so against confederations of any type that they unanimously rejected a proposal by Ben Franklin to form a confederation of states for the purposes of defense against the Indians. I could go on, but you get the point. These are not the stances a liberal would take, and certainly not a modern progressive. -
Don't hunt over a baited field in Sumner County

Don't know for sure, but my bet is that you can't exactly stop agriculture. And since a corn field planted for human consumption is going to have human activity around it, deer will naturally be somewhat wary of it. But planting corn in the middle of the woods gives the deer a false sense of security. -
Bearings? Whatchoo talkin' 'bout Willis? What are they and what do the do for me?

About 3 years ago I bought a router and I have finally gotten around to taking it out of the box and trying it out. While it is easier to make a cut than I suspected, it's every bit as hard as I thought it would be to make one straight. So what's the trick? Should I just bite the bullet and buy a router table? Is that the secret. Any other tips would be appreciated as I would like to build some shelves in my closet in the not too distant future, but I need quite a bit of practice. Thanks in advance.

Absolutely. Drinking with the sole purpose of getting drunk, maybe. But enjoying a beer, glass of wine, or a mixed drink on occasion? We have had more than one alcoholic in my family, so I know what it can do, but some people are able to handle it better than others. If you're not among them and you are able to abstain, my hat is off to you. But if if you enjoy a cold one while watching the game in your living room in your recliner while munching on some game time vittles, I only have one question: When should I be there?

+1. Mag problems are both common and easy/cheap to fix. It's been a while since I've messed with that line of pistols, but many have a button in the bottom of the mag floor plate that lets the plate slide off and the spring come out. If yours does, take it apart, clean it, lightly oil it and reassemble. If the problem persists, buy a new mag and try again. If the problem persists, explore the springs and feed ramp, though I doubt the feed ramp just all of a sudden became incapable of feeding when you've had good luck with it so far.

I'm in for November too. This time I'll try and not plan 3 events on the same day so I can actually stay and shoot and socialize a little longer.

Always good to hear in these damn near impossible economic times. Congrats on the job. Let us know where it is so we can give you some business to make sure you stay employed.

You can bait up until ten(?) days before you hunt an area. -

No. Nope. Sure, but only if you agree that she isn't worth seeing when she nails the lyrics. I think this one's been covered. The only problem with that theory is that the ones who decide when to go to war don't have to go to war. If I don't trust my government to provide police protection to me in my own town, why would I trust them to make a decision in my best interest in global matters? -
The problem with Clarksville though is that jobs can come and go with the 101st, depending upon your occupation. It is also a typical military town for both the good and bad that brings. I must say though that I was pleasantly surprised with the school system when my kids went there. Not to mention, if they ever finish 840 I would think property values would increase rapidly. That is if the government will ever stop trying to fix the economy and let it fix itself. This is the area in which I live. The pros: It's country, but still close to Nashville. My commute to downtown is in the 30 minute range. A little more with heavy traffic, a little less with light. Traffic on the west side of town seems to be much lighter than east and south of town. You'll still hit bumper-to-bumper traffic at times, but not as much as the other two. Lower property taxes than any of the surrounding counties. No emissions check to register your vehicle. One of the largest TWRA public hunting areas in the state. Of course that is also a con, depending on your point of view. The cons: If you have kids, the schools aren't as glamorous as those in say, Williamson County. Lower taxes and all. Because it's not as "A list" as some of the other areas listed above, real estate seems to move a little slower. Of course if you're buying that's good. If you're selling, not so much. Police/fire/EMS presence is not what it is in the big city. Of course many here have a mindset that favors that type of environment, so again, this may go in the pros for you. The biggest con: Guns & Leather is about a 45 minute drive with light traffic. All in all, I think the pros far outweigh the cons. I like the rural feel of Cheatham County. Kids ride their 4 wheelers and dirt bikes around the neighborhood without ever being stopped by the police. People are friendly, but not nosy. Everybody has guns, so nobody has ever even taken a double take when I wear mine in my yard or garage. Of course I'm biased because I live here, but I shopped the other areas before buying and this is what I came up with.

I dunno. Baiting kind of takes the sport out of it, don't you think? I mean any idiot with a rifle can kill a deer when you can lure them in that easily. Granted I see what you're saying: It's kind of like speed traps. You can argue that they take away from other, more important police work. But sometimes you just gotta go after some of that low-hanging fruit that's easy, and get the other stuff when the opportunity presents itself. DISCLAIMER: I'm a novice hunter by all definitions, but I don't want my first deer to be bagged with an asterisk. I want it to be because I was in the right place at the right time and made a great shot. That is all. -
Or the fact that the two cop cars that were directly behind the bad guy's car didn't suffer the same fate? Of course we nitpick because this is the stuff we love. Overall, I like it. I will definitely be following it closely. I noticed that too. I guess they had to add that safety click later.

So you're on a gun site and surprised by an overwhelmingly conservative point of view? We're not supposed to agree. That's why the founding fathers wanted a multi-party system. People who act like discourse and argument is bad for the country need to think about it. If your opinion/view is X and the government is doing Y, how else do you think it's going to change? Another thing I find interesting is how this rally was supposed to be the one that ends the divisiveness, yet every single one of those signs in that video was a direct jab at Tea Partiers. Great job on that one. -
That's me and Mrs. LagerHead (aka Bonnie) in the foreground.

That seems to be the consensus among the LEO's I have spoken and dealt with. Thanks for confirming. And thanks for your service.

Man, that sucks Mike. It seems the more you pay in taxes, the less you get for it, doesn't it? I hope you are able to get back to the patron state of shootin' stuff real soon.

But yea, I agree. You'd be pissed if someone disrespected one of your rules after you made it known. Luckily my father in law is a gun guy too, though a little less than I am.
