Those are some gorgeous dogs, all right.

I couldn't care less what opinion polls show. Mob rule is among the worst forms of government, and when you legislate based on opinion polls that is exactly what you are promoting. Short of no system at all, I prefer a system where individual rights are sacrosanct. Unfortunately, in our system votes in Congress are easily bought since the only thing that concern our representatives is the next election cycle.

So sorry to hear that. I know you're in full on grieving mode, so we'll see you when things settle down. Prayers for you and your family.

So I am thinking about starting a TGO Hall of Shame
LagerHead replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
I recently read a pretty convincing article on the value of shaming. I can't say I agreed 100% with it, but a very good argument was made. In this sort of situation though, I'd say let 'em have it. If they want to act like douches, treat them like douches. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
is it a good or bad idea to let a 14 year old visit her mom in jail?
LagerHead replied to 3600's topic in General Chat
I must have missed the part where the OP was asking for marital advice, but I will say I admire the folks that can judge the totality of a marriage that includes a child from just a few paragraphs. I wonder if you can also give me financial advice. I need money. That's apparently all you need to know. As for the OP's actual question, I visited my brother in jail for the better part of his 8 years in state prison. Sometimes I even took my daughter, who wasn't older than about 9 or 10 when my brother was released. It really isn't that big of a deal. Expect to be thoroughly searched and have to obey more rules than you can count, but otherwise it's just a family visit that often includes buying sweets and drinks (depending on the facility) and possibly some card playing, etc. Sure, it's not the ideal situation, but it is easily workable. Especially at your daughter's age, the visiting isn't the part that is going to be hard to deal with. I would wager that, if anything, it will be a net plus. Nothing can replace the parent/child relationship, even if it's not a perfect one. As for folks that are condemning this woman for what apparently amounts to a misdemeanor, you have to realize that folks do things for myriad reasons. Of course there are the stupid mistakes all of us make, but then certain conditions, such as bipolar disorder can make a person do things they would never do normally. In fact, financial disasters are a not uncommon outcome of that specific disorder, so I would caution you all to be careful casting judgment on someone you've never met, especially when the situation is passed to you secondhand. -
The problem with "research" is that most anti-vax folks confuse Google searches and confirmation bias with research. I don't care what kooky theory you have cooked up in your head, there is somebody out there that will tell you you're right. However, in this case, some of those folks have "authority" because they have Dr. in front of their name. Of course, they are chiropractors and don't even see patients. But they do have stores where you can buy their rainwater from and will gladly take your money if you want to substitute that for actual medicine.

wheelchair competition shooting,
LagerHead replied to tncountryboy's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
Get in contact with your local IDPA club. We have had folks in wheelchairs at several matches, though they had pretty ruggedized chairs, usually. Sometimes the terrain at IDPA can be challenging. But folks there will help out in any way they can, too. -
Absolutely. Vaccines are one of the greatest inventions in the history of mankind and there's no way I am going refuse medicine that saves literally millions upon millions of lives every year. Besides that, there are kids with cancer or that have received heart transplants and are taking immunosuppressants that are counting on all of us for herd immunity.

I don't know a damn thing about Jeeps, but those are both ragtops. Take that puppy through the car wash and make sure it doesn't leak.

That's a tall one.

I'm sure you're not. However, active duty and guard/reserve recruiters often share office space. So that's better than nothing.

Completely disagree here. You are free to ask for special treatment for your government...everyone is. However, politicians that give it to them are definitely the problem. The fact is, our politicians are bought and paid for by special interests. The average citizen, i.e. the one whose rights politicians are hired to protect, just doesn't have the funds to carry a politician in his back pocket.

What about for my barber's cousin's former roommate's army buddy's uncle? He's a really stand up guy, I promise. :D

I don't know how quickly you need it or what you need transported, but I am taking a motorcycle trip that will take me in the general vicinity on the 24th and returning to the Nashville area on the 27th. If you end up getting desperate and your item - assuming there is an item - will fit in a locked motorcycle side bag, let me know.

Apparently the answer to the age old question is, "Not always."

Amazing new holster design
LagerHead replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I like that. It really seems like it would work especially well with business/business casual attire. Might have to pick one up. -
BB King's is pretty good for the blues fan. The house band is kickin' and they have special guests that are always sure to please. In addition, it is smoke free, unlike Bourbon Street. The food there is also pretty good.

November can't get here quickly enough. Hope things are going well for you down under. One question: How do you avoid falling off the earth down there?

Love it. The triple towers in Singapore remind me that I want to go there someday. Maybe during the Gran Prix? That would rock.

A cop in Kansas did something beyond nice for a guy that seems to really deserve a hand up. If you have severe allergies, please be careful watching this video. ;) http://www.aol.com/article/2015/09/25/man-who-commutes-to-work-on-foot-brought-to-tears-by-roeland-par/21241158/?icid=maing-grid7%7Cmain5%7Cdl21%7Csec1_lnk2%2526pLid%253D1921411607&intcmp=hplnws

Don't know about the rest, but I will never switch from State Farm. When we had a really bad hail storm hit us in 2012, Mr. Roof gave us an estimate for repairs and State Farm said it wasn't high enough. They totaled my wife's car and gave us more than blue book (blue book + our deductible). My truck had to have massive repairs and the body shop's estimate missed something to do with the tailgate. The body shop called to tell me they had issued an adjustment to my insurance company and would continue repairs once they received approval. Maybe two minutes later State Farm called and said the adjustment was approved and the body shop would be continuing with the repairs immediately. Not a single hassle was give while I had a car totaled, truck repaired, rental car provided, and two roofs replaced, for a total of over $30,000. I'm sure they're not the least expensive, but I got the peace of mind for which I was paying.

If there's ever a question about whether you can do it legally, ask yourself this question: "Is there any reason the government should control this?" If the answer is no, then they are controlling it. ;)
