  1. Droid X for the win. If you aren't using the Swype keyboard you're missing out. It's the way to go. If you have an iPhone don't bother looking for it.
  2. She probably liked the trigger pull. My guess is this won't end up being her carry gun so it's a great gun to shoot and get comfy with.
  3. That's good news. My father and stepmom took their permit last year. I was proud to see my dad was carrying this past weekend on our motorcycle trip. They grow up so fast.
  4. I see now. So, "it's for the children." Where have I heard that before?
  5. It all goes back to the same pole. If your phone is out your cable very likely will be as well. And the backbones they ride are all fiber. Not to mention most of the cases that would force you out of your home, the place you most want to be, would likely sever all power too. I would consider it one tool in the toolbox, but not the ultimate solution by any means.
  6. Why? I have never had a problem going in reverse. And since it's such a minuscule part of your total driving experience I just see it as an unnecessary added cost.
  7. It just shows that they have the political backing to be so brazen. They know that it's the truth and there's basically nothing we can do about it.
  8. I just read this awesome post from a blog called The LawDog files. Pretty good stuff, especially the cake analogy at the end. The LawDog Files: Ok, I'll play
  9. A battalion of Marines is marching through a valley when they hear a whistle from up on a rock high up on a hill. They look up and see a single paratrooper sitting there flipping them the bird. The battalion CO calls for a platoon of Marines to go up and kill the SOB. So a platoon from A Co. runs up the hill after him. Just as they reach the paratrooper's rock he dives behind it and they chase him over it. All that can be seen and heard from down in the valley is screaming and body parts flying everywhere, after which the paratrooper resumes his perch on the rock and flips them the bird again. The CO then calls for all of B Co. to go get him. So B Co. charges up the hill and again chase the paratrooper over the rock. Again there is screams of agony and blood and guts everywhere. And again the paratrooper sits back up on the rock. And again he gives them the finger. So the CO orders the remainder of the battalion to go get him. So they all charge the hill and chase the paratrooper over the rock. Same thing. Except this time one lone PFC makes it out alive. Bloody and stumbling down the hill he yells to the CO, "Sir, it's a trap. There's two of 'em." Airborne!
  10. Nice bike. One of my all time fav's. Which part did you get?
  11. You can't say that any more. Neither can I. I took second place in a costume contest when I was 7. I won a whole $5!
  12. So did you have anything of value to add or are you just here to poo-poo others' choice of guns? If the latter please feel free to refrain in the future. I know you only carry Ed Brown and Les Bear $25,000 1911's but there are other that either haven't hit the lottery yet or are more frugal with what income they have. Whatever their reason it doesn't make you smarter.
  13. Any encounter you walk away from is a good one. Unfortunately the bad guys had a good encounter too.
  14. I have been stopped 3 times since I got my permit, most recently this past weekend in Alabama at a sobriety checkpoint. All three times I informed the officer right off the bat. All three times they indicated their appreciation for me telling them. All three times I was let go with a warning or without further hassle (in the case of the sobriety checkpoints). Maybe it's coincidence but like Pavlov's dogs I learn from repetition and will continue to do so. It's really no skin off your back to tell them and only a very few will give you extra grief for carrying and it's very likely they would give it to you once they run your DL and find out you have a permit and you didn't tell them. Who knows?
  15. Correctomundo. Sometimes the best lessons in life have to be learned the hard way. Unfortunately this was a case of stupid on stupid crime. Only one side greatly outnumbered the other but the losing side didn't know when to just take a little humiliation and call it a day.
  16. Man, what did we do to deserve such harshness?
  17. Have you ever tried Korean? I prefer it to Chinese because it is generally spicier and I like kimchi. Pulgogi, especially chicken pulgogi is also good. Mana (corner of 11th and Charlotte Aves) has a great seafood soup. Seoul Garden is also good (Edmonson Pike, 1 block from Nolensville Pike). Try it if you haven't. It's good stuff.
  18. RIP soldier. Thanks to him for his service and to his family for letting a grateful nation borrow him for so long. Will the Patriot Guard Riders be riding in his funeral?
  19. Man that is bad news. I am so sorry for your loss.
  20. Anyone in the western part of the state know of any memorials? I have a slew in Nashville and east, but nothing west of here so far.
  21. I was fully expecting the camera man to get shot. Glad the only one that got shot was the anchor, and only with a camera.
  22. That's a great looking knife. Out of my price range though.
  23. Love my Kimber 3" - Ultra Carry II. I will probably add a 9mm 1911 to the stash someday.
