  1. Maybe, but I sure wouldn't have called police. No reason to get the state involved over someone partaking in a perfectly legal activity. Kinda like how we would be up in arms, pardon the pun, if we got swatted by Mothers Demand for open or concealed carrying. No difference.
  2.   Some of the smaller guns that have harsh perceived recoil can be tamed with some rubber grips. Case in point: My wife's Sig P232. The grips are hard plastic, so shooting even .380 has uncomfortable. Added some Hogue rubber grips ($18) and voila, a joy to shoot now.   But yea, finding the right gun can be a chore. But once you've found it! I no longer own a gun I don't love to shoot. Aside from their obvious practical use, guns should be fun. When they are, you'll practice, become comfortable, carry them, etc. Plus, they're not exactly cheap from most people's perspective, so taking the time to find the right is to your advantage.   Hope your wife gets back to 100% quickly.
  3. I understand. It surely is. I just seem to be in the rather unique position of having screwed up myself during my life and don't think I deserved to die for it. [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I like it too. It's definitely unique among the shows on TV right now. I also like the post-apocalyptic, alternate universe, retro, kung fu genre. At least I do now that it exists. :D
  5. Yes, but the alligator wasn't in the home. Neither was the alleged burglar at the time of his demise. The question at hand is whether he deserved to be eaten alive because he stole some stuff. I am arguing in the negative. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. That's not what happened, is it? If someone is, at this very moment, inside my home uninvited, he presents a clear and present danger to my family and me. Once he leaves, he does not. I hope he gets caught and my stuff gets returned, but I wouldn't wish death on him. We always say, half joking, that "nothing in my house is worth dying for." Well, it's not with killing for either. (Obviously speaking of material things, not family.) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7.   Seriously laughed out loud at this. But really, the kids gotta grow up sometime. ;)
  8. He stole something; he didn't molest a child or kill a little old lady. Yea, he certainly realized the full implications of stupid decision making, but I think saying he deserved to die for stealing is just a bit on the harsh side.
  9. Question for the experienced hunters, and I'm not being a smart aleck, so please don't jump down my throat. This is a serious question.   Other than letting a buck grow to be trophy worthy, is there a reason you shouldn't shoot a younger spike. I'm told the meat is better when they're younger and a big part of the reason we hunt is to control population. Is shooting younger males going too far in the population control game, and if so, does TWRA take that into account with their quotas for the next season? If so, I would imagine that too many button bucks or young males could lead to a reduced quota system for future hunters. Is that a big part of the concern?   Thanks.
  10.   I bought one for my stepfather for Christmas. It looks to be every bit the shit the pants are.
  11. Yes, that is them. I knew it was Proverbs, but couldn't remember chapter and verse. [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12.       You guys are probably correct. Dumb old me, I didn't think of that angle. It's just usually the case that stupid, restrictive regulations are lobbied for the heaviest by the incumbent businesses as a sort of political protectionism.
  13.   You're right, it is a pipe dream. Suppressor manufacturers are probably silently lobbying against this. If they were legal, suppressors wouldn't command nearly the money they do. It's absolutely insane that a suppressor should cost more than the guns to which most people attach them.
  14.   A lot of pet stores have gone to exclusively offering pets from local shelters and rescue organizations. I know the PetCo near me has an adoption day every Saturday. I have to stay away from that area on Saturdays as I already have 3 dogs and 2 cats.
  15. I don't think an XD is a good choice for concealed carry for most females. I carry the exact gun you're looking at, though not the Mod 2 version (very little difference in size, etc.) but it's bulky. Females are going to carry only if it's slimmer, generally speaking. The Sig P232, LC9 (as stated above), possibly the CZ 75 Compact, something like that would be where I would look for your better half. The S&W M&P is also a little slimmer, I believe, and the lower bore axis will probably make it more pleasant to shoot. That's why I'm considering an M&P vs. CZ 75 Compact myself right now.   If you want to try out an XD at the range, let me know and we can probably work something out. If you want to try out just about any other gun you can think of, either I or somebody on here probably knows someone that has one that would be willing to let you put a few rounds downrange. I mean, who doesn't need another excuse to get to the range, right?
  16. The funny thing about welfare abuse in this country is that corporations get about $40 billion more, i.e. about 36% more than citizens, and yet nobody bats an eye. Ending corporate welfare, limiting regulation, abolishing the federal reserve, and establishing a sound monetary policy in this country, even if you did absolutely nothing to change social welfare policy, would have massive, positive effects on our economy, but everyone goes bat shit crazy because a dude wants a steak. To say that we have bigger fish to fry is a gross understatement.
  17. Bullets are for taxpayers too.
  18. You can get competing products on Amazon for much less. There are a ton from which to choose.
  19.   If the pants I just ordered from Duluth are any indication, get one of theirs. The pants weren't cheap, but on the first day I wore them I got deer blood on them and stepped into a mud puddle about ankle deep. The mud puddle didn't even leave a mark. You literally cannot tell I stepped into it. The blood I sprayed with the hose and then wiped off with my hand. My leg didn't get wet and the water just beaded right off. Plus, they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee: If you are not 100% satisfied, return it at any time for a full refund. Doesn't get much better than that.   https://www.duluthtrading.com/search/searchresults/sitesearchresults.aspx?pg=1&p_keyword=wallet&p_utk=&p_search_sid=&gndr=&p_origin=mens-home&processor=content
  20. Love me some STP. They and AIC were definitely two of my favorite bands of their era. Even now if one of their songs comes on I will not change the station. Too bad he couldn't get that monkey off his back.
  21.   If it was, I'm sure all the family members of the dead will be saying, "Thank God my son wasn't killed by somebody on psychotropic drugs." :squint:
  22. I suspect something is up here. If I had to guess it's that you're not such a bad guy yourself and have helped others out and they felt it was time you got your share of good mojo. I don't know you outside of the forum, so I could just be talking out my fourth point of contact, but folks don't go out of their way like that for shitbags. If I'm wrong, I guess you got some payin' it forward to do. ;)
