  1.   Man, there is something wrong with you. ;)   I would definitely start with a Tommy. They are just too much fun to shoot. After that, it would depend on how much I could get selling my house and all my belongings. :D
  2. No surprise from Jones. She's a typical lib. Kudos to Carr though.
  3. Thanks for posting. Nothing warms my heart like a bad guy full of holes.
  4. I'm afraid I agree with David on this one. I don't understand how some of you can outright dismiss this like it couldn't happen. It happens all the time. Gun owners around the nation - millions of us - were very nervous about what was going to happen. Hell, even our Republican representatives in the gun friendly state of TN wouldn't go on record saying they were going to support the 2nd Amendment. So what do you think Republicans, and especially Democrats, in states like California, Illinois, New York, and New Jersey were saying?    Luckily however the NRA is an extremely powerful lobbying organization thanks to those of us who are members. They certainly were telling every Congressman and Senator who would listen that they would be "gunning" for them - if you'll pardon the pun - if they supported the President's gun-grabbing efforts. And you think that has no effect on how they vote? Sorry, but it has an effect, like it or not.   I'm not saying this article is the Gospel. I'm just saying it is entirely plausible, especially given Obama's stance on guns. If you don't know that he would outright ban just about every gun we own if given half the chance you're part of the problem. Complacency is what they hope for. If we had been complacent during the last month and hadn't been contacting our representatives demanding they uphold the Constitution there is a very good chance his speech and calls for legislation would have been much more scary.
  5. We can't get a decent carry bill or a parking lot bill. Please don't tell me THIS surprises you.
  6.   I agree wholeheartedly. Timing schmiming. I don't think the NRA should worry about releasing this game - which as far as I can tell neither contains nor promotes violence - and offending the sensitivities of a few, or even a few million bedwetters. It's target shooting. How this has anything to do with Sandy Hook or any other event other than the fact that it has guns and shooting is beyond me. If this app is a bad idea I guess I shouldn't carry this week or go shoot an IDPA match this weekend. After all the IDPA targets are human silhouettes.
  7. For a trigger, look at Powder River Precision. I have their triggers in my XDM 5.25 and my XD9SC. The XDM trigger is 2.75lbs with very little over travel and a short reset. I did it myself during lunch one day. They also have striker springs, etc. to make it run like you want it. As for the other stuff I'll let some of the folks that don't shoot IDPA only answer that.
  8. Hey, I like coffee. And I'd be down for a little conversing with like minded folks.
  9.   Uh oh, do the other teachers know?  ;)     Oh, and welcome. :D
  10.   He may call himself a "Blue-Dog Democrat" but that's still a load of crap.
  11.   Fixed that for him. (Obama that is. I realize you were just quoting him.)
  12.   Amen. Too many people just want everyone else to believe and practice what they believe and practice. Unfortunately this is neither a conservative nor a liberal phenomenon.
  13. I believe we should fight all new regulations against firearms, but not for any of the reasons listed above. It is a God-give right and it is the government's job to protect, not assault those rights.
  14. We have a cat that looks almost exactly like that. His name is Pepito. Soft spot for German Shepards? I wonder why? ;-)
  15.   Another thing: People incorrectly assume that should our government become tyrannical that those with the keys to the tanks and helicopters will automatically go along with it. I seem to remember in my oath something about defending the Constitution of the United States agains ALL enemies, foreign AND domestic. If I had been told to open fire on my fellow citizens because they were standing up for their God-given rights I'm afraid I would have considered that an unlawful order and refused it. I might have even turned around and joined them.
  16. I really don't see how this is any different than how they already print our money. Our fiat currency is not backed by anything and every time they print several hundred billion dollars to prop up another taxpayer supported business that is "too big to fail" we devalue our dollar that much more. The Federal Reserve, the one organization that was sold us suckers as protectors of the economy and the value of the dollar has done more harm to both than any other organization. It's time, not to audit the Fed, but to abolish it completely. It is nothing but a cartel created to protect big banks at the expense of the taxpayers and it has done a marvelous job at that.
  17. I have a much simpler idea. Tennessee should implement some kind of system where a citizen can take a class, say an 8 hour class at a gun store for example; then get fingerprinted; have a background check; pay a fee to the state for the privilege of exercising a God-given and constitutionally protected right; and then receive a permit to carry a handgun. They should then do away with stupid "gun free zones" and let people protect themselves instead of being mandated into victimhood by their omniscient government. If we as ordinary citizens are good enough to protect ourselves and our children why aren't our teachers? Hell, some of the folks on here are no doubt either teachers or married to one.
  18.   Damn, that sounds evil. We should ban them.     But then how did he exploit the gun show loophole?
  19.   I have heard that as well. I bought a heavy duty roll pin just in case. No way this thing is going to break.   http://shop.powderriverprecision.net/product.sc?productId=32&categoryId=4
  20.   This is an oft-quoted and misleading talking point. The truth is crime was already decreasing 2 years before the ban was introduced and continued to decrease at the same rate during the ban and continued to decrease at roughly the same rate after the ban. There might have been a slight slowdown as Brian stated but it was certainly not significant.
