  1. The reason for the wording is most likely to cover possible illegal hunting/poaching. In other words don't go shooting your gun in a park without a good and legal reason for doing so.
  2. So the magic number is actually 111 posts then. Who'da thunk it?
  3.   There you go. Background checks are just one step on the way to registration. And we all know where registration leads.
  4.   That is one theory. Another is that thousands of people OC every day without incident. There are also folks who have been killed while CCing. Generally I think that anyone not in a cop uniform looks about the same to most criminals. They are hyped up on adrenaline and as a result have tunnel vision. I don't think it's realistic to worry about it. But you're definitely entitled to make that choice. Just keep carrying.
  5.   There are people out there like this. Not to mention the guy who has sex with his 17.9 year old girl friend two days after his 18th birthday. I know it's rare but it happens.
  6. Sorry to hear about the loss of a friend David. Condolences to you and his family.
  7. First they came for the communists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist. Then they came for the socialists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Catholic. Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me.     Think about it.
  8.   Maybe. But just remember: Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.
  9. ^Yep. And there are plenty of cases coming their way. They may wait for one with a little more substance. It may be worth our while too.
  10.   Another vote for Sam. The first thing I thought of when I read your post was transmission. They are expensive to rebuild or replace, as you most likely already know, and the last thing you want to do is add so much power your kill your stock one. My advice would be to talk to a shop that does this kind of thing for a living and let them guide you.
  11. This guy passed. I don't think you have anything to worry about.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mzcgyk62cHU
  12.     This is beyond debate. This has already happened countless times throughout history. Abandoning the gold standard has always led to economic collapse. Sometimes it's slow and other times it's fast. When the Federal Reserve was allowed to be formed in this country the writing was on the wall. Their intent included abandoning the gold standard and Woodrow Wilson went along with the plan willingly. Since then every Congress has failed to audit this corrupt cartel and has therefore been willfully complicit in the destruction of the value of our dollar.
  13. Count me in. Great idea and a great way to get started on the AR build I am putting off.
  14.   Of course they will have to vote on it to know what's in it, right?
  15.   Once again. Lie!    ^^Tool obstructs view of feet.
  16.   It's supposed to be a lie. That's the truth.
  17. On his 21st birthday got so drunk that he French-kissed an alpaca named Henrietta.
  18.   As a vet from a family full of vets (including three generations and counting of females in the Army) I find this puzzling. And I am little bit offended to be honest. We never asked to be put on some pedestal and granted special privileges or rights. We just wanted to do our small part to ensure that everyone, you and me included, gets to enjoy the same rights. Don't ever sell yourself short because you didn't wear a uniform. Without the folks back home working the jobs, keeping the economy going, taking care of our/your families, what is it that vets are fighting for?  :usa:
  19. Once paid a one-armed hobo to rub the corns off his feet while he sat in a discarded recliner drinking Mad Dog 20/20 and smoking unfiltered Camels. This was on a Wednesday in June.
  20.   Glad to hear this. Many brands/styles of safety glasses can be filed under the category of RPG (Rape Prevention Glasses) but a hole where an eye used to be is even more uncool.
  21. Mark, the quote in your signature has never been more appropriate.
  22. Once, when I was 7, Rugerla1 and I found an arrowhead while hiking in the Sierra Nevadas. We were so enthralled by our find that we soon got lost beyond help. Rugerla1 then fashioned a spear out of the arrowhead, a stick, and some twine he fashioned out of the bark of a cedar tree. He used the spear to catch us some fish and then started a fire using flint and steel and some magnesium from a battery he had in his transistor radio. The fire lasted about half the night and then it began to get really cold. Despite my best efforts to fend him off he insisted on spooning to conserve our body heat. Even though it would eventually lead to me needing counseling, it no doubt saved my life that night.   The next morning Rugerla1 was able to signal a search helicopter by bouncing sunlight off his "grill" that he had made just the week before. Thank God for his shiny new teeth. Long story short, the mountain rescue guys were able to find us easily since we were only 20 yards from the nearest road. I owe my life to Rugerla1. True story.
  23.   Fixed that for you. "Again" implies that he stopped at some point.
  24.   And when that day comes it will be mine. Oh yes. It will be mine!
  25. I would add the Sig P232 to your list to look at as well. You obviously don't want a big bulky gun but you need to also consider those double action triggers and how you feel about them. The P232 has DA/SA trigger with a decocker and if you put Hogue grips on it (about $18) it's quite enjoyable to shoot. The downside is it is a small gun so you're limited to 7 rounds of .380 unless you carry a second magazine (which is what my wife does). Otherwise you do have a rather nice short list there.   If you haven't been, stop by Guns and Leather in Greenbrier (just outside/south of Springfield) and let them know your requirements and they will give you some suggestions. I like Robert there the best but I haven't been treated wrong by any of them.
