  1. 10-ring, it sounds like it's time for you to just make a hard fast rule about salesmen entering your home. This might be considered sexist by a few but the fact is most men consider it their responsibility to provide the safety for the home, whatever form that might take. If that is the case then you get to make the rules regarding it.
  2.   Very astute observation. Regardless, the message here is the same: Don't bring a gun to a sword fight.
  3. The last sharpener you will ever buy, right here. I just bought one and I literally sharpened every knife in my house in about 20 minutes. The Work Sharp Knife and Tool Sharpener.
  4. Luckily I am just now getting to the point where I can afford decent vehicles so I don't have those regrets. I had a car I wish I had never bought though: 2001 Pontiac Bonneville.   My dad however, has a few.   '66 Pontiac GTO bored to 400ci. My uncle David made him some custom exhaust pipes out of the drive shafts from a '55 Chevy. It sounded so good people wouldn't race him based purely on the noise it made.   '57 Chevy 4 door Coupe (no B pillar) with a blueprinted 327. He paid a grand total of $135 for the car; $25 for the car, in perfect condition except for a blown engine and $110 for the blueprinted (yes, blueprinted) 327. He lost his license in that car when he went to traffic court with three tickets on the same day. Only race he ever lost was to a '69 GTO Judge.    '66 Ford Fairlane GT. Broadsided on Christmas day, 1980 by a lady who ran a red light.
  5.   So you support shipping the politicians in Kennesaw, GA that voted to mandate gun ownership to prison then? Because if it's unconstitutional to force a mandate to buy insurance surely forcing one to buy a gun is equally unconstitutional.
  6. I have heard that. I don't buy it however. I've yet to see a company pitch a fit over getting free money on the taxpayer's dime. Maybe Ford was different. Who knows for sure? Oh yea, this thing's a real dump inside. I couldn't stand being forced to sit in this. If you haven't sat in the back seat of a Tundra Limited you don't even know what rear seat legroom is all about. The seats move forward and backward and recline. And as you can see above, the new version lets you flip the seats up for even more cargo space. Not to mention the 115v power outlet in the back (two prong, not cigarette lighter style), DVD player, nav system, in dash CD changer, dual heated 6 way power adjustable front seats, etc. etc. etc. etc. Yea I love my truck too.
  7.   I'm sorry, but there is a HUGE difference. Having a drink doesn't kill people who have never met you. Having a drink and driving kills thousands of people who have never met the offending driver every single year. Nobody is saying don't drink. But if you drink and drive and kill someone, nothing the legal system can throw at you is nearly good enough.      I'm a motorcycle rider. If I had to make a guess I would say around 95% of the people who have almost turned my into a bloody, gory mess on the streets have been either texting or talking on their cell phone. I honestly have as little regard for people on their phone while driving as those driving drunk. It is every bit as dangerous if not more. And so far the evidence seems to suggest more.     Generally anything a politician does is a waste of time.      You spelled 1st wrong. If you drink and drive you should lose your license, your car, and spend a significant amount of time in jail. If you think that's too harsh, drink at your own damn house.    What I find...amusing? is that not a single person on this board would hesitate to jump down the throat of someone who drinks and shoots. And yet, even though cars kill orders of magnitude more people every year so many are quick to defend drinking and driving. Seriously, what's up with that?
  8.   I forgot to add, Ford did in fact accept money from the government. The only difference was they didn't actually need it. But they got $5.9 billion in government, that is to say, taxpayer funded and backed, low-interest loans for hybrid development. Is it just as bad? That's a matter of personal opinion. Mine is yes. They are accepting taxpayer money to invest in losing technology. And since it's a government loan nobody actually expects them to pay it back. And if they don't, we will. Yay crony capitalism (crapitalism)!
  9. Toyota. That is all. Edit: I saw Tanker's post after I posted mine. Though I do like to rib on guys that own GM, etc. that wasn't the deciding factor in my purchase. I just love vehicles that don't fall apart in the first or second year of ownership. I have seen SEVERAL Toyotas and Hondas go way past 250,000 miles. In fact my dad once had 4 Camrys in the driveway, all which had over 250,000 miles. I just refuse to pay that much money for a car that isn't going to last. With a Toyota, "Close hood. Run forever."
  10.   Same here. But a buddy who hasn't yet wants to do The Dragon. We need to get out there and do it.
  11. ^^^Exactly what he said. Horrible idea by a politician pandering to a group of his constituents. It's one of those laws that has zero chance of passing, only introduced in the hopes of buying him votes.
  12. I don't believe I would have complied with any of this based purely on the fact that they are security guards. I would have told them if they have a problem with me they better get some actual law enforcement officers to take it up with me because since I am not a prisoner they have zero authority over me.
  13.   I wouldn't go that far.  :yuck:     He's a political pundit on CNN who has millions of liberal followers, many of whom vote. That's why.
  14.   The disaster is far from unknown. They have been hit with the same disease that ran rampant in Seattle during the 90's: Californication. As the libs in California find more pleasant places to live they begin to miss the teet of their mommy, big government. So they begin to pull a Weird Science experiment but instead of creating a smoking hot redhead they create a hideous monster of liberal ideas and lost freedoms. Quite disgusting, isn't it?
  15.   My wife and I met at DLI (Defense Love Institute). DLI Korean, 92-93.
  16.   Does a one-legged duck swim in a circle?
  17.   OhShoot, you seem to be implying that a politician might say one thing and do another. I'm sure I am misunderstanding you.      Well I look at it this way: I might be broke and it might cost a little bit of money to flush the radiator and swap out the water pump in my car when it's needed, but it's a lot more expensive to swap the engine later on. Assuming that what she says is true, which I seriously doubt, this falls under the same brand of logic. My guess is that there is pork for her district tied to the bill and she's not willing to give it up, nor are many others.
  18. I don't think I am quite the accuracy....person you are, USMC, but I like my Savage. And I like my friend's Savage with the AccuTrigger a little more. If you'll pardon the pun, they are definitely great bang for the buck.
  19.   How unfortunate and how true that statement is. Except for trucks I would never consider an American vehicle. And even then I think my Toyota Tundra was the right decision. My other vehicles are a Honda, Volvo, and Yamaha.        True about the 5 speeds. I prefer automatic though because I spend time in traffic. And holding a clutch sucks. Even my motorcycle doesn't have a clutch to hold. It's a 5 speed but it has a paddle shifter on the left bar. It takes care of the clutch for me. Life is good. :D
  20.   Dollars to donuts says it's pronounced kuhMAHL. I've known a guy by this name.
  21.   Maybe. But who cares? This is one of the rarely publicized, incredible missions of one of our most highly trained Special Operations forces. Awesome story no matter the timing.    Also remember that missions like this are highly classified. Everything the SEALs do is Top Secret and above. Declassification doesn't happen over night.
  22. When I see guys building things like this it really makes me wish I had tried harder at math and become an engineer. I would love to be able to get half way through that project but there is no chance.
  23.   By that measure I guess I shouldn't have anything to say about people who steal because I have relatives who have done time in prison. Or one could be judged on their actions and their actions alone and not those of people to whom they just happen to be related.
  24. Yep, nothing like taking a cheap shot at someone who had nothing to do with the situation. I generally like Iowahawk but this was a low class, chickenshit low blow. Way beneath him.
