  1.   That hasn't been the case in the past. Generally once we make out intent clear people know what we are talking about. Sometimes they need reminding and other times they need a vacation but it's generally not all that bad.
  2.   Amen. I wouldn't go to the quite appropriately named Dick's if they were giving shit away.
  3.   Even Jefferson's statement about it has nothing to do with the way it is implemented today. His statement was purely against the establishment of a state religion or church like they had in England.
  4. I have and love it too. The U-Verse doesn't offer Internet speeds as fast as Comcast but I don't need it. Internet for me is almost completely used for work. My son plays games and my wife does things like Pinterest so our demands really aren't that great. You do need to find out how far you are from their equipment though, because your distance from the DSLAM or whatever it is effect the bandwidth you can receive. Also, one annoying thing that I have found is that if you have too many programs set to record and are watching something, rather than give you a warning 5 minutes out like DirecTV does, it just cuts off the programming and you have to go manually change the record settings. That may be configurable but I haven't looked for it as it's only happened to me twice.   Other than that I like the DVRs where you can watch your show from any TV, the guide is super fast, at least compared to DirecTV, which I found to be frustratingly slow. They also have a smartphone app so you can set shows to record when somebody mentions it at work or whatever I have used that dozens of times, if not more. All in all, I am happy as all get out that I made the switch. I won't be going back any time soon.
  5.   Yep. They are free to try to unionize and the company is free to resist. That's what liberty is about.      See my above comment. Why should they not have the freedom to try to unionize? And why shouldn't Wal Mart have the freedom to fire every single one of them and blacklist them from ever working at one of their stores again? Freedom has to work both ways or it isn't freedom.     I don't think most people who have a problem with unions have a problem with the average worker. I think their problem is the way the unions protect even that ".01%" of scumbags to the bitter end. It is also wrong to give preferential treatment and promote based on seniority rather than hard work. In that way many unions do indeed lower the quality of work. If a guy has been at a company for 20 years and he doesn't do work on the same level as someone who was hired last week, he doesn't deserve to make more, period. There is no rational justification for that kind of pay structure.    Unions also pigeon hole people into their job description. Example: My brother is an electrician that worked in a union shop. He came in one day and found a ladder in his way and was about to move it. He was yelled at by his supervisor because that wasn't their job. So instead of moving a ladder - because that requires such extraordinary skill that it must belong to a single job description - the sat for eight hours, did nothing, and went home. That's not productivity any way you cut it. I have also seen similar behavior at my current job where you ask someone to do something very simple, and the answer is, "That's not my job." I disagree. Your job is whatever the hell your boss tells you to do, short of intentionally causing you injury, humiliation, or breaking the law. If you're the VP of Finance and the CEO tells you to go sweep the halls, you either sweep the halls or find a better CEO.   By the way, if you are offended by generalizations about unions, you might want to reconsider your generalization of non-union shops as "sweat shops." I am non union and I certainly don't work in a sweat shop by any means. I do work in a heavily unionized company though and I am not jealous. I make a very decent wage that I negotiated without the need to pay dues to someone who is going to use them to take swanky vacations in Vegas on my dime so they can "strategize" or whatever it is they do there. My salary is based on one thing one thing alone - the value I bring to the company based on the skills I possess. Like I said, you should be free to unionize if you want, no problem there. But it's an undeniable economic fact that your awesome pay, insurance, and retirement make things cost more. Again, companies are free to charge what they want union or not. But it's also a fact that a large part of the problem with the American auto industry can be traced directly to the cost of union labor and their golden parachute contracts. It's why you can buy a better Japanese car, also made in the USA, for less than the cost of a comparable American car.    DIsclaimer: The opinions provided above are mine alone and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of this station or any of her sister stations. ;)
  6.   Rat Terriers are great dogs but they will chase stuff at the drop of a hat. I hate to sound like a broken record but you really need some kind of containment strategy for any dog.
  7.   I don't see in the Constitution where it says you can walk the streets either. Isn't it amazing how generous our government is to let do things like that? Oh, and breathing! I can't begin to thank them enough for their limitless benevolence.
  8.   You're not kidding. That guy is FAST. But Nicko is the reason I play the drums. He is definitely one of the most underrated drummers out there. The guy is GOOD.
  9.   Thomas Sowell is an extraordinarily smart man. Not only is he studied but he sees past the numbers. Not only that, he is a true believer. True believers can't be tripped up because they are not trying to make you like them. Their only interest is spreading truth. In my not so humble opinion, he is right up there with Milton Friedman as some of the best minds of the 20th century.
  10. I have been an Iron Maiden fan for 28 years. This September 5 I will finally see them in concert for the first time. I'm as giddy as a little schoolgirl.
  11. Aimpoint and Eotech are the yardstick by which all other sights are measured. That being said, I decided to go with Sightmark for my AR because I got a holographic sight and 3x magnifier for less than the cost of an Eotech. If I was going into battle and my life depended on it, Eotech would be on my rifle. Since only my score punching holes in paper and cardboard depend on it I am comfortable with a much more economic model. YMMV.
  12.   I'm not a piston gun elitist or anything (my current EBR is a DI gun I built) but I would say they are more than marginally cleaner, at least when talking about the bolt carrier group. The piston gets downright filthy just like the bolt in a DI gun but I would give a distinct edge to the piston gun for sheer ease of cleaning. Mine was a large piston gun so it was really front heavy, which is why I no longer have it. I will probably buy another piston gun someday though. I like them.
  13. This is the best Glock ever right here, boys and girls.
  14. That's pretty cool. Unfortunately I use more than 250 minutes per day, so I MUST have an unlimited voice plan.
  15. I had a Sig 556. Fantastic rifle. The ONLY reason I sold it was to fund another AR build that my wife would enjoy shooting more. As you probably already know piston ARs are front heavy so for my wife it was hard to hold up for very long. But otherwise it was a joy to shoot, it NEVER jammed. In fact it always got laughs or compliments because it slung brass so far upon ejection. If I ever buy another piston AR the Sig 556 will be on my very, very short list, no doubt about it. I don't have experience with the Core so I can't do a comparison but I can recommend the 556 without hesitation.
  16. I've always said that the most facist people I have ever met are from the Northeast. This is just another example.
  17.   No need to beg. ;) But that's the rider, not the bike. You put Valentino Rossi on an R1 on the Dragon and even the infamous Yellow Wolf is going to be viewing taillights. You just can't beat physics. A bike with 180hp weighing less than 500lbs is going destroy a bike with about 120hp weighing nearly 900lbs. Now you put me on the R1 and Yellow Wolf on his Goldwing, then yea, I'll be the one looking at taillights.
  18.   This has been decided at the national level too. In no way is this policy unique.
  19.     I ride an FJR too. LOVE IT! Fantastic bike.   But if you're looking for a comfortable bike to ride you will not beat the Goldwing. Hands down it is THE touring bike. A Goldwing will make you want to take 500 mile rides on a very regular basis. They are also incredibly dependable and have huge online support networks similar to TGO, but on a national scale. They aren't going to corner as well as an FJR or a sport bike, but not nearly as poorly as a cruiser. And there is no way you would get me to ride a cruiser for 500 miles. No thanks. I like my back and butt too well to do that to them.
  20. I don't know what TGO you guys are talking about. The only one I know stinks on ice. Especially that one mod with the beer related name. What a doofus.
  21. I have a ROKU downstairs and Apple TV upstairs. When I want to do streaming downstairs I unplug the Apple TV and bring it down. In my not so humble opinion it beats the snot out of the ROKU hands down.
  22. I went in once. When one of the guys muzzled the other with his loaded weapon I took that as a sign.
  23. Obama hat keine Donaudampfschifffahrtsgesellschaftskapitaensmuetze.
