Still not exploitation. Find me a definition of exploitation/exploit that matches this, and I'll concede it's possible I am wrong. By your definition, any product that is sold through a reseller where you aren't allowed to buy directly from the factory is exploitation. In other words, every store on the planet is exploiting you.   It's not at the expense of others if they agree to it, therefore not exploitation. Again, exploitation requires duress on the part of the one being exploited. Our markets don't work that way.   No, capitalism works because it allows parties A and B to come to an agreement on price that benefits both parties. The great thing about capitalism is that it doesn't require the approval party C, you in this case, on the price for it to work. And there is a very simple and effective method of correction that exists here, but isn't utilized because the market hasn't reached that critical point where the prices being charged are higher than what the market will bear: people can voluntarily stop buying ammo. But they haven't. So the price hasn't surpassed that point for the market. Apparently it has for you, but you're not the market, therefore you don't get to decide for everyone what is fair and what is not. If the market worked unilaterally like that, THEN it would be Socialism. We aren't quite there, yet.   By definition you can't agree to be cheated, therefore there is no ethical problem of which the seller needs to be cleared.   If I tell you my price up front, you agree to it, and I actually charge it, where was I dishonest? How were you cheated?

  It's absolutely nothing like cheating at cards. It's as much like cheating at cards as it is like a twin-turbo V8. Not the same ball park, not even the same sport.   For person A to exploit person B, either person B has to be an unwitting participant in the deal or some sort of coercion must be used. If I ask $1,000,000,000 for a brick of .22 ammo, you have two choices: You can say, "Sure, that's a fair price," and pay it, in which case we are both happy because I got $1,000,000,000, i.e. something I wanted, and you got a brick of .22 ammo, i.e. something you wanted. Win, win. The other option is, you can say, "That's too much," and walk away. In that case, you're happy because you didn't pay more than what you wanted and I'm happy because I didn't accept less than I wanted. In neither case are you an unwilling participant no did I in any way force you to do something you didn't want to do.    So where exactly is the exploitation? If the market wouldn't bear the prices, vendors couldn't charge it. Just because YOU don't want to pay a price doesn't mean it's too high. Obviously there are tons of people that disagree. I haven't bought ammo in a couple of years because I agree with you. But nobody is exploiting me either way. 

  I've never had a problem running mine wet or dry. However, if after about 10,000 rounds you haven't cleaned it at all, you may start to notice some reliability issues. I now clean mine twice a year whether they need it or not.    I have owned the XD9SC, XD40 Service, XDM40, XDM9 5.25.    Don't waste the money on the XDM. Get a service or a tactical and put in the Powder River Precision (PRP) trigger kit. It takes about an hour and a half max and will make the trigger like butta! Unless you are going to use it in competition, then maybe you'll want the extra .25". Who knows?

  I'd be trying too. I'm all about paying as little as I can for your stuff. If you agree to it, then it's a good deal for both of us. Ain't capitalism grand? ;)

All, thanks for the replies. I think I am going to talk to the folks at the Cain Law Firm based on both advice here and advice from Chip himself. I knew you all would come through.

I'm sure either someone on this forum has been through a similar situation, or one of the lawyers can either answer or point me to someone who can, including themselves. I am not looking to get a lawyer to work for free, so if the best answer is to come see you, let me know that too..   For reasons that are unimportant to the general topic, my mother wants to put a home she is about to buy in my name. She is going to buy the home outright, so there won't be any mortgage for me to worry about or anything like that, but she doesn't want another family member to be able to get it, and my stepfather's medical bills are going to be mounting, so she doesn't want them to be able to come after the house if they get behind.   So my question: If she puts the house in my name, does that create any kind of liability on my end, other than the obvious property taxes? And can they somehow come after me for the house to pay for the medical bills, even though they aren't in my name? What else might I be missing?    If one of our resident attorneys thinks I should come in and discuss this, please PM me contact info and I will do so. I'd say they are still pushing an agenda, but maybe not as obviously as some others. Their assertion that mass shootings are increasing is not true, and neither is the crime rate. Mass shooting by year Crime rate by year

  My dad lived downstairs from a guy who worked 3rd shift when he was about 20. His wife would vacuum the floor at about 2AM every morning, a couple hours after the guy left for work. My dad asked her to please wait until shortly before dude came home and she basically told him to shove it. He then asked the husband to talk with her and received much the same response. So one day he waited for Mr. Personality to get home, gave him about 30 minutes to wind down, get in bed, etc., then placed his speakers on top of a book shelf just below the ceiling, cranked the volume to 11, and went to work. Problem solved.

"The Hill" is an area of St. Louis that is famous for its Italian food. The zoo is free. Generally not a bad place to visit.

  There's tons of it out there. Check out cyclegear.com. They have pretty decent prices on a lot of stuff. AlpineStar is hard to beat all around. But there are lesser known brands that are damn fine too. I have a Frank Thomas XTI 2 suit that I ride with in the winter and it has kept me warm down to 15 degrees. Of course I have good gloves and heated grips too, and they help as well.

I can't applaud loudly enough. In my opinion, anyone who takes less than what is offered is not a very good business person. If Donald Trump offered you a million bucks for the beat up, rusted out Vega sitting on blocks in front of your domicile, which of you would turn him down? Not a single one of you. So how exactly is that different than someone accepting what you consider an outrageous price for a gun? It's not different. They have a product that someone wants to buy for a price someone is willing to pay. Don't like it? Don't buy it.
