Just had a Burger King manager want to fight me
LagerHead replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
"Brawndo has electrolytes." The problem, as I see it, with going the social media route, is that it tends to taint an entire company for the actions of an individual. It doesn't matter how good the interview process is; there is going to be the occasional tool that makes it into the ranks. And occasionally they will also get promoted. But, as the happy ending to this story is evidence, eventually these tools get their just desserts. -
You'd need to contact Sikorsky about that. ;)

What's the difference between a garage full of 100 dollar bills and a garage full of dead hookers? I don't have a garage full of 100 dollar bills.

P-51 pilot who chased a German plane through the Eiffel Tower dies.

Let me know if you need somebody to ride shotgun. -
You're obviously a menace to society. Sounds like a damn good dog. And you'll have him back tomorrow and all of this talk will be forgotten.

My guess: It gets restructured, Gaston is removed, and you continue to buy Glocks the same way you do now. Any business worth anything will survive this kind of turmoil. As a consumer you probably won't even notice a blip in the availability of their guns.

Probably some truth there as well. There are several cars I can think of that are nothing short of ugly that are supposed to be pretty decent vehicles according to those who own them. However, I shop quality first with appearance and features running a close second. There are too many options these days to drive an ugly car or motorcycle.

There are a couple of things at play here. First, cars looked the same back in the day too. Sorry, but it's true. How many of you, the first time you saw the movie "Christine" thought it was about a Chevy and not a Plymouth Fury? I know, I know. You knew, but I didn't. How different does that Fury look from some of the Cadillacs of the day? How about the similarities between the later GTOs and the Chevelles? I know, both are GM, but come on. Second, back in the day there was the big three and then all the rest. Now the big three aren't even the big three. Toyota is now the biggest auto manufacturer on the planet. There are way more variables than there used to be. But honestly, you can tell at least the manufacturer if you learn the traits that they repeat. For example, who doesn't know a BMW by seeing just the grill? Chrysler is making a lot of kind of boxy cars these days, so they're pretty easy to spot. Nissan is making all of their cars with that wide rear end and the flared fenders. Toyotas are pretty easy to spot because of the shape of their headlights. Audi...well, you get the point. I think the main problem folks have nowadays is that there are just so many more brands of car on the road. And hey, that's a good thing. Choice, aka competition, brings out the best in the industry as a whole. It's why you can now buy a regular family car with a nav system, DVD, custom wheels, etc.

The IRS isn't to blame in this case. It's our elected "representatives" who buy votes by promising the fruits of our labor to others with no strings attached. Yea, there are people out there that legitimately need help. Hell, I've been broke as a joke before and I know full well how bad it sucks. If you've never been there, trust me, it blows. BUT, I have also seen tons of people leeching off the system with absolutely no intention on ever changing. In my opinion, we should end ALL government handouts - that means to big corporations, farmers, pretend farmers, etc. - and let charity take care of the folks who legitimately need the help. As we all have seen on this board, Americans can be some damn generous folks when someone needs a hand, but most of just don't like having our money taken to ensure that Billy Bob Republicrat gets re-elected in the next mid-terms.

It sucks that when he got back to the beach someone had stolen his boat.
-
You got me. On the slacker part, that is.

It was also "known forever" that the earth was flat and that the seas were infested with monsters that would swallow your boat. ;) Observation and testing proved both of those "facts" to be incorrect. And the key word in your sentence was, "or." The .45 excels in one but not the other. The fact is that modern handgun ammunition tends to perform pretty similarly regardless of caliber because caliber isn't the only factor at play. There is also bullet weight and velocity. As pointed out above, F=MA, therefore simply stating that my caliber beats your caliber ignores 1/2 of the equation. The fact is the .45ACP is a heavier round that moves slower. So while it has the M portion of the equation, it doesn't have the A portion. 9mm is smaller, but it moves much faster. Again, losing in the M portion, but winning in the A portion. So then, which is better? While your gut may tell you that the .45 beats the 9mm hands down, empirical evidence disagrees with you. The fact is there is very little difference where it counts: penetration. As you can see from the above picture, the 9mm, .357 Sig, .40S&W and .45 are all pretty close when it comes to penetration. But if you're going to be measuring in millimeters, the fact is you should be carrying a .40 in 180gr or 9mm in 147gr if you want the best penetration, or .40 in 165gr if you want the biggest, nastiest hole (my impressions from the picture above, purely). Regardless of the above data and arguments, I would argue that 5 well placed shots with a 9mm would beat 3 well placed shots with a .45, assuming that the average shooter would suffer the kind of performance degradation (from an accuracy standpoint) that would cause follow up shots to be approximately 20% slower per shot, that is. My point is of course, I would say that an argument can be made that even if the .45 were better from a ballistic standpoint, that advantage could be outweighed by the fact that a 9mm, on average, is going to exhibit less felt recoil and therefore follow up shots will be made quicker. However, if you feel the most comfortable with a .45 and the gun you shoot the best with is a .45, then I would argue you would be a fool to carry anything else. In fact, my normal carry gun is a .45ACP, Kimber Ultra Carry II. But I chose that gun not because I believe the .45ACP to be the best thing since sliced bread, but because the Kimber was of such a size and configuration that I am more likely to carry it in more places and regardless of my choice in clothes for the day than, say, my XD, which is a 9mm. The XD is kind of thick and makes it a pain to conceal, particularly in the summer. But I would easily trust my life to either gun without a moment's hesitation.
-
Is that based on your own independent ballistic tests, or just because, nuh uh? ;) The FBI aren't the first to conclude this, by the way. At least that the 9mm is at least extremely close in performance.

Bah, digital trumps analog any day.The only thing lost by going from vinyl to CD/MP3 is static, which I don't want to listen to anyway.

My wife and I almost died today, twice
LagerHead replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
Maybe instead, somebody really loves you. In truth, you weren't even injured. You were shaken up and now realize how lucky you are to be alive. Sometimes that knowledge is a gift. -
Receipt checks are just one of the many reasons I don't shop at the big box stores. Another is that I have price checked and have never found a single thing that was cheaper there. I have never been able to finish a 55 gallon barrel of peanut butter before the expiration date, either, so it's even more of waste of money.

If he was a Mexican cartel member the ATF would have let him keep it.

This kind of crap infuriates me, even when it happens to somebody else. Who the hell do these limp !@#$!@# !@#$!@#$!@s think they are? So many of these celebritards and politician scumbags think they are above the law. Had one of those guards been dropped, and rightfully so, they would find out the hard way they are not. Man I hate people sometimes.

WHAT???? Unacceptable. Tell him to get back to wasting time on the Interwebz.

Will Hayden (Sons of Guns) arrested for child molestaion "allegedly"
LagerHead replied to Lumber_Jack's topic in General Chat
Agreed. As pointed out in the article, the first one may prove to be false later. It would be a shame to drop a valid case and he gets released on an invalid one. That is, of course, assuming he is guilty. As reprehensible as the charges against him are, he deserves his day in court. There are certainly enough attention whores on that show to go around, so I take anything I hear about any of them with a grain of salt. -
$400 just to look at your arm? You should have asked how much they'd charge to just look at your middle finger.

I do like Facebook for some of the news sites I follow. But I can really do without the other 99.999999999999999%, which is peoples' narcissistic posts about every aspect of their lives, about which not a single person gives a damn. Yes, we all know you live near the beach and get to see it every day. Yes, we all know that your feet went with you on vacation, we don't need you to provide photographic proof. Yes, we all know that your life is filled with childish drama. Yes, we all know you are afraid to directly confront those that have offended you so you must address them randomly in a passive-aggressive post on the Internet that they'll never see. And nobody cares about any of it.

I for one am not amused.
-
I didn't like you then. I'm just kidding. Seriously, I like most people. I'm that guy in the office that's always the last to know the dirt on people, mostly because I couldn't possibly care less. As a result, it takes me a long time to actually get where I dislike people. Most of the time. <Insert evil laugh>

You're probably a lot more creative than I am. And you probably have a more exciting life. If I did the same, it would just be a guy getting fatter, balder, and uglier.
