  1. Actually, after rereading this part and seeing the part about the right half of the lane, I might reconsider. Though I will stand by my cheeseburger bet, there is just enough ambiguity in the wording of this statute that you may be entitled to the aforementioned ground beef dinner. But remember, don't climb the hill if you're not willing to die on it. In other words, if you're not willing to pay the fine AND the court costs, pay the fine and live to fight another day. Either way, if I owe you a cheeseburger, let me know.
  2. Mr. Sane, I hate to be the first to break it to you, but all the name calling in the world doesn't make that diatribe anything close to an argument. And even though I know it will go in one ear and out the other completely unobstructed, let me respond to you. First, let me answer your question, "Just how is your own brash, cavalier, and, quite frankly, somewhat paranoid reactionism contributing to the betterment of OUR world?" Well, for starters, (completely ignoring the juvenile name calling you insist on inserting) everywhere that has lifted restrictions on the Constitutional right to carry firearms in public, crime has decreased. I think that contributes to a betterment of society. But apparently you don't. And places that have placed more restrictions on guns have seen crime rates soar. Ever heard of Washington D.C.? AKA the murder capital of the United States? Guns were completely banned there and the murder rate soared. Yet right across the river in Virginia, the murder rate was a fraction of D.C.'s. But let me not bother you with meddlesome "facts." "If the type of thinking which all of you demonstrate on this page continues to invade and pervert sanity, children are off of my list of 'things-that-I would-love-to-do-in-the-future'." That's probably for the best. You're obviously not well adjusted and your kids probably wouldn't be either. The world has enough insanity in it without breeding more. Thank you for your gift to society by not procreating. I know I'm taking your...ahem....points out of order, but I'm silly like that. "Does this reactionary behavior make you feel proud or, worse, reasonable?" Well, first, you need to look up the word "reactive" and then compare that to the definition of "proactive." I prefer a proactive measure, i.e. taking steps in advance of something happening to lessen the chances, or the consequences of that action. Second, as far as being "reasonable" you might want to take a look in the mirror. Nothing you say has any basis in fact, just your extreme left-wing liberal talking points regurgitated again and again by so many ineffective anti-gun lobbyists. "Reason" has no place in the arguments of the Brady Campaign, the Freedom State's Alliance, or your beloved Violence Policy Center. All of them use nothing but scare tactics and lies in their campaigns to disarm America totally. So many of their facts are so easily disputed, that often the very day they release a study, flaws are found in them. How sad is it that their position is so incredibly weak that they have to completely fudge numbers and lie to get it across? Pretty damn sad, if you ask me. Finally, great job quoting the VPC. Nothing screams "reasoned debate" like quoting a far left organization of lying loons. But I won't leave you empty handed. I would like to invite you to actually educate yourself on gun control and then come back any time you see fit and see if you have anything to add other than the swill you have so far spewed. Please take the time to paruse the following publication. http://www.gunfacts.info/pdfs/gun-facts/5.1/gun-facts-5.1-screen.pdf It addresses most of the common myths vomited daily by those fine organizations I listed earlier. After you have read it, please feel free to come back and make an actual argument. One that can be back up with facts. And if you would like to actually discuss the issue, we're all ears. But if you just want to continue hurling your insults, well then...I guess I better keep it civil. But suffice it to say that I have a less than polite response for you. "Masked in self defense"? Seriously? Again, educate yourself before you embarrass yourself (any further). There are approximately 1.5 million defensive uses of guns every year. How is that "masked in self defense"? And yes, many of them happen in ....gasp... restaurants! What you, and countless others, continue to ignore (I say ignore because you know it, you just choose not to acknowledge it) is that it is STILL illegal to drink while carrying in Tennessee. The vast majority of HCP holders here abide by that law to the letter. And while they do, thugs and scum will continue to carry in your restaurant. And they will be the ONLY ones carrying there, since you apparently work somewhere that doesn't allow customers or employees to carry. I sure hope you're feeling safer knowing that.
  3. My advice would be to let it go and pay the fine. The officer obviously had a hair up his butt, or he wouldn't have wasted the time to pull you over on such an arcane law. But according to the wording you provided, you violated this part: (a) Upon all roadways of sufficient width, a vehicle shall be driven upon the right half of the roadway, except as follows: (1) When overtaking and passing another vehicle proceeding in the same direction under the rules governing such movement; If you were looking at that part, it might be considered "excessive" to stay in the left lane for a mile. I say who cares, but a judge is always going to side with the officer unless he was clearly either caught in a lie or in violation of the law. From what I can tell he wasn't in violation of the law and therefore has no reason to lie. It's stupid and you should never have gotten a ticket for it (even though I am in agreement that you should drive in the right lane for the most part), but I'd bet a cheeseburger that if you fight, you lose. Just my $.02.
  4. What? How does anyone make it out of the state alive? In all seriousness, I wouldn't drink while armed even if it were legal. With today's litigious society, why even have that be a question in a case if you ever had to use it? Just my $.02.
  5. Darn racist. Seriously, though. Very well thought out, INTELLIGENT posting. It pretty much sums it up for me too.
  6. Am I the only one that thinks the article was a fake in the first place? When is the last time you saw an article in the paper with that much of a direct quote? And it wasn't particularly well written in the first place. Thought it does make for some interesting debate on the issue.
  7. I have had two similar encounters since receiving my permit, and both have resulted in me going on without a ticket or further hassle. Therefore, I will be informing just in the hopes that this trend continues. However, you are clearly not required to inform, so if you choose not to, that's OK too.
  8. The drug companies would love for this plan to be passed. If there is anyone that can be overcharged for extended periods of time without notice, it's the government. This plan would spell a windfall for the pharmaceutical industry like they've never seen.
  9. Too late, you already did that with your extreme left-wing wing nut, I pray at the alter of the Dhali Bama, everything conservative is evil, you can't possibly have a valid opinion because it disagrees with me opening statement. This is typical of ALL liberal statements that you try to pass off as an argument. You might as well start quoting the Brady bunch's line about how HCP holders are the scurge of America while you're up there on your high horse looking down on us poor, lost souls. Of which I'm sure you're a member. Don't mistake the members of this group for that guy in St. Louis(?) I will defend myself to the fullest extent of the law if any of those thugs try that crap on me. And I'm pretty sure that someone who is obviously a genius such as you knows to what extent I am referring. First, being insulting and insinuating that you can't possibly be educated or intelligent and be conservative at the same time is what makes liberals look like a bunch of tards. You might as well pull out some "yo momma" jokes and then claim a victory in the debate. Second, what you refer to as "fake grassroots" support just shows how out of touch with reality you really are. I would say, "Don't take my word for it, look at the polls," but I know that will never happen. Facts, statistics, polls, truth, honesty, integrity: all words that have no place in liberal arguments....er, I mean propaganda. (Arguments infers that you know something about the topic.) Third, can you explain to me why, during the 8 years that George W. Bush was president, dissent was the height of patriotism, but with Obama in office it's not "the picture of patriotism" that I thought? Whose suffering? Is this an emotional argument, or a factual one? You need to get your head out of the sand, dude. Take a look at England's NHS. If it's so great, can you explain to me why the best jobs in England offer private health insurance AS A PERK? And while you're at it, can you explain why those who are offered it overwhelmingly accept it? Let's see, free health care by the government, or pay for private health care. And they choose the MORE EXPENSIVE option. That's because government run health care SUCKS. Period. That's why Congress and the Senate don't use it. Now this is surprising. I can't believe that a liberal plant who is pretending to actually believe what he says (just taking a page out of your playbook, sorry) has resorted to playing....<insert dramatic music here>...THE RACE CARD!!! Gee I didn't see that coming. Why don't you just invoke Godwin's Law and get it over with? Fire department and police departments are ones that the government is supposed to provide. It kind of goes along with providing for the common defense. And they are not particularly suited for private enterprise, unlike health care, which does a pretty damn good job. As for the post office, it's so wonderful that people are willing to pay much more for the inferior service of UPS, DHL, and Fed-Ex. Great examples. Oh, never mind. Godwin's Law has been invoked. Great argument for socialized medicine. If you and I were alone as the last two lifeforms in the Universe, there wouldn't be an "us" so I'm not sure to whom you are referring. And as far as health care, insurance, socialized medicine; I'm not sure what any of that has to do with being a firearms enthusiast. And if being against bigger government, socialism, government bullying and strong-arming, and refusing to buy in to the rhetoric of Pelosi, Reid, Boxer, Obama, and the like gives me a "bad name," well then I sure as hell don't want to have a good name. I seriously doubt you will get thrown out. If anything, I will get thrown out first for my...ahem...heated response. And just so you know, the Amendments are only in numerical order, not order of importance. You probably didn't mean that, but it's certainly implied. And as far as one side only being represented, that's not what's going on here. What is going on here is that we refuse to sit on our hands while elitists call us things like the "low education/high intolerance" crowd. If you think that being liberal means you're educated or tolerant, than you are far less intelligent than those you are so lamely attempting to insult. To paraphrase Francois Guisot: "If you're under 30 and not a liberal, you have no heart. If you're over 30 and not a conservative, you have no brain." I hope for your sake that you're under 30.
  10. Then boooooy have I got a deal for you!
  11. Great stuff. Kudos to the creator of that.
  12. Well then I'll be in good company. $100 for a good nap? Yea, that's worth it.
  13. Yea, depends on the job. A friend dropped off his AR-15 before heading to the range there, and when he came out, it had a new front sight. Not too shabby. Of course, it was a small job.
  14. That's several times I've heard good things about them. I'm very anxious to take my class next weekend. I'll give a review afterward, of course.
  15. You did a damn fine job David. I can't wait to start building me an EBR. I might have to throw a little business your way.
  16. I've got two XD's and both of them have a finish that comes off if I see something rough on TV. David, if you're looking to refinish for money, it sounds like you have a lot of potential customers right here.
  17. I believe he's taking the Advanced Concealed Carry class, which I am also taking. If I am correct, I will see you there, David.
  18. Well I hope they get it fixed. This forum is becoming a bit addictive, and I get the shakes when a thread won't load.
  19. Drent, I sent you a PM. Respond to it with your e-mail address, and I'll send you an e-mail I use that has plenty of facts and stats, plus a link to all you'll ever need.
  20. Would you switch to Apache if you had another choice to protect against DDoS attacks? If not something like an ASA 5505, then something Linux based? Maybe with all the geeks on here we could come up with an alternate solution. Just a thought.
  21. I've been using it for about 3 years now, since it was Grand Central. It is the best thing since sliced bread. It allows you to assign a "virtual" phone number to several phones, so that it rings all of them when someone calls your virtual number. When you get a call, the caller says their name, and then you get the call. When you pick up, you have the option to answer, send to voice mail, or send to voice mail and listen in. If you want to pick up while they're leaving the voice mail, you just hit * on your phone. My Google Voice number is the only one I ever give out, because all of my phone numbers (cell, home, work) can change, and you can still get hold of me using the same phone number.
