I was there this afternoon. It was pretty full but no waiting. I hadn't taken the ole M1 out to play in quite some time...love the sound of that en-bloc PING!! The RSOs do a pretty good job IMO, I'm glad they err on the side of caution.

Congrats! In my experience it shoots better with the bayonet extended. Don't know why, YMMV.

I don't know the answer but I have had the very same impression as you. I never liked the trigger on my brother's G17...felt like shooting a staple gun. His is probably a Gen1 or 2. The trigger on my new Gen 3 G26 feels much, much better, IMO.

If I had to thin the herd, this would be one of the last to go.

Perhaps the cafeteria in the Snowball Room in Mammoth is considered a federal building. If you're on a tour that passes through it there's no avoiding it. Though no longer valid, many of the trailheads in the Smokies still have gunbuster signs. They sure don't bend over backwards letting people know when the law changes in favor of 2A.

I started out looking at SIGs for a CCW but there were so many reports of shoddy workmanship from their Exeter plant that I ultimately bought a HK USPc....then decided I wanted to go smaller and got a Glock 26. I'm sure anecdotal Web reports are blown out of proportion, but I could find very little negative about the quality of Glock or HK. FWIW, I never liked the grip angle on my brother's Glock 17 but it's not an issue on the G26 where I'm tucking the pinky under the grip.

Best wishes for Sadie, I hope she pulls through. I had a similar situation with my Brittany Spaniel and it was one of the toughest times of my life. I had had her since she was 6 weeks old and she was like a child to me. Good luck to you.

I swore off Glocks for years just because I never warmed up to my brother's G17....just didn't like the grip angle and there was probably a little old school bias against polymer as well. Anyway, after handling a G26, all the things that bothered me about the G17 don't on the shorter gripped G26....can't explain it, but I warmed up to it so much it eventually followed me home.

Hmmm, I thought this was how they work... J/K, love my new Glock 26.

I've never tried it, but there are tons of 'em in the yard....well at least for the time being. Up until last week... Last week... There's a new Sheriff in town!!

Congrats! I really like my RC-4 (ESEE previously known as Rat Cutlery). I also have a Swamp Rat SAR but it sees very little use. IMO a 3"-4" blade need be no thicker than .18" thick and .15" or .125" is just fine. I don't understand the craze over these short, thick semi-custom blades. Too short to chop, too thick to slice (well).

Samco Global has some Yugo 24/47 Mausers for $170. If you had asked this just a few years back I would've suggested a K31 in a heartbeat, but it seems they're going for $250-$300 now...wasn't long ago they were at or under $100. https://www.samcoglobal.com/1-M24-47.html Aim Surplus has some Nagant revolvers in right now. I like how a lot of the chimneys (and even the steps of the hotel, look closely) were made out of the local river stones.

I could be wrong, that's just the number that popped in my head. I actually explored the hotel several years ago, before they put the signs up...kinda creepy, I kept thinking it'd be a good place to film a horror flick. massive fireplace in the Wonderland Annex

The Sharpmaker is a nice setup for the money. The only thing to be wary of is running the tip of your knife off the rods. You can round off that pointy tip in a hurry. I'm not vigilant about keeping my kitchen knives sharp and I found that I needed the diamond coated rods. It just takes too long for stock removal with the medium gray ceramic rods. But just a few swipes on the diamond rods and its ready for the next step.

'nother Wonderland Annex pic Wonderland Hotel Annex, other side. The main Wonderland Hotel building burned down in '02, here's what's left This is what's left of the home at the edge of the Wonderland Hotel complex where the hotel staff lived.

A lot of the old vacation homes in Elkmont (Great Smoky Mountains NP) as well as what's left of the Wonderland Hotel are scheduled to be torn down within the next 5 years. I hiked back in there and took a few pictures this summer. Also there's a nice writeup about it here: Endangered Species: Elkmont Cabins Wonderland Hotel Annex Abandoned vacation home I should add that there is a stiff fine ($5,000, I think) for exploring the interior of any of these buildings.

In a recent interview with the comic series creator Kirkman, he said that at the point he's at in the comic series today, only 2 of the original cast we see in season 1 of the show are still alive. Of course they don't have to strictly follow the comic books.

The edge chipped on an older Benchmade of mine with S30V. This was several years back when S30V wasn't as prevalent as it is today. I think early-on knifemakers had trouble nailing down the heat treatment for this steel and that was the problem. That said, I can get a sharper edge on S30V and it holds longer, but perhaps VG10 is a wee bit tougher.

I use coarse ground beef and red kidney beans. For heat I'll add anchos and chipotles and roast some poblanos on the grill. If it's not hot enough at the end I'll adjust with some habanero sauce. I also use a LOT of cumin, a small block of unsweetened chocolate and some whole cloves as well as onions, garlic, bell pepper, etc. etc. In the spring I also make a white chili using chicken, white beans, and mild green chilies like poblano and bell as well as a healthy amount of fresh cilantro. It also has a little bit of bacon for flavor and instead of crushed/pureed tomatoes and beer that form the base of the other chili, this one has chicken broth and you blend in a white sauce (milk, butter, flour) and top with some monterey jack cheese.

Yuengling or Fat Tire as a spring/summer staple Guinness or Murphy's Stout as a fall/winter staple PBR when I'm on a budget Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale or Stone Ruination when I'm craving the hops. Two of the best brews I wish were distributed in TN are from Great Lakes Brewing: Great Lakes Brewing Company: Beers - "An Exceptional Family of Beers." Eliot Ness Amber Lager Dortmunder Gold (this is what a pale lager should taste like...I'm lookin' at you BudMilCoors!)

It was on the Tanawha trail which I believe is in the Pisgah National Forest (North Carolina), but it's awfully close to the Blue Ridge Parkway (National Park) on one side and Grandfather Mtn. (privately owned) on the other. So the short answer is I don't know if hunting is allowed there or not. Tanawha Trail Map Here's another pic:
