  2. Not an Imbel kit... Belgian. I have too many .308's as it is, this one is headed for the classifieds.
  3. Thanks. I saw some prices on websites, but they were out of stock, and I thought, too high.
  4. How you vote is a personal choice. Not really any of my business. With 20 to 30 million illegal aliens in the country, and ER's required by federal law to treat anyone walking in the door, the hospital has little choice - pad the bills of the insured to cover the uninsured, or go out of business. I note the current version(s) of the bill don't require the illegals to buy insurance. This is actually fairly intelligent, since there is little doubt that they would pay as much attention to such a requirement as they did to immigration requirements. I've now heard two reasons to dun everyone for health insurance - Yours (that everyone will need it eventually, and it is the ones that don't have it that are making it more expensive for the rest of us) and the other version: It will increase the 'pool' of insureds, allowing costs to decrease for all. I still haven't heard the version that explains how, in this country, forcing someone to buy something they don't want, is a plus for individual liberty. I still haven't heard a version that explains how this won't lead to single-payer (gov't provided) healthcare, or one that explains how, if we just pass such a bill, our experience won't be the same as every other country that has socialized medicine. Shoot, I still haven't seen someone point to the part of the Constitution that even makes this the business of Congress in the first place. What I have seen, lately, is that the silent majority isn't so silent anymore. I've seen that people are getting downright fed up with politicians looting the treasury. I think we've got a long way to go before this dog and pony show plays out.

    FAL Fiends?

I've got an STG58 parts kit bought many years ago, and I really don't believe I'll ever get around to doing anything with it. I'd put it in the fersale, but don't have a clue what it is worth. It'd probably be good to have a ballpark idea of what it ought to fetch, before I try to give it away or ask a ridiculous price. How about it, falfans? What say you?
  7. Last I heard, recruiters were still open for business. Matter of fact, these days they give some pretty healthy bonuses. I suspect that as ones' willingness to work increases, ones' opportunities bloom accordingly.
  8. Public transportation Ride with friends/co-workers Bicycle All reasonable alternatives to driving without a license. All legal. All avoidable by purchasing auto insurance. Again, like healthcare, their problems are their problems. Why penalize me for it? I don't frequent bars, yet I carry a gun. My wife doesn't drink, yet she carries a gun (good thing, too - last month she stopped a carjacker because she was armed). I need no excuse to engage in a legal, constitutionally protected activity. Not sure why you would draw a parallel between that and an unlawful activity such as driving with a suspended or revoked license. Finally, I didn't have to do anything to be born poor either. If I had continued to do nothing, I'd still be poor. Its' making money that takes effort.
  9. To answer your questions in reverse order, the whole idea of insurance is that it is possible to make money based on the statistical certainty that more customers will buy it than actually need it. If, statistically speaking, you are very likely to need it, then you aren't getting insurance (unless your insurer is really stupid), you're paying for the liability in advance. I've driven semi's, motorcycles, cars and light trucks since I was 15 years old. Not once have I been involved in an accident that was my own fault, but I have been in one that was the other drivers' fault. Happily, for the purpose of this topic, he was uninsured. So you might say that I've paid auto insurance for 30 years to cover some bum who a) couldn't drive and didn't make the financially prudent choice of obtaining insurance against the likely consequences of his inability to operate a motor vehicle. The result was that my insurer gave me nowhere near the amount of money needed to replace my vehicle. You think I'm happy about this? You seriously think this enhances your argument? Not so, young jedi.
  10. I have a pair of CZ bolt guns at home - rimfires. I don't see how they could make them any better, except maybe an option for fancy wood. As far as manufacture, accuracy, and design, they are the best available that I am aware of.
  11. I'm not against healthcare reforms. Fer instance, we could remove government restrictions that tend to reduce competition. We could do something about tort reform that could reduce lawsuit payouts from millions of dollars (most of which go to lawyers on both sides of the lawsuits). We could take steps toward getting the lawyers out from between the doctor and the patient. We could do something about the gov't dictating terms to doctors and hospitals regarding medicare/medicaid treatments - those terms already make it much too difficult to operate a small practice, and frequently deny needed treatment or medicines, and are so bound in red tape that making timely decisions required for quality healthcare are impossible. Shoot, we could start by removing racial quotas from medical schools, so that the best academically qualified are admitted, rather than the most politically correct. Lots of things we could do, most of which involve reduced interaction between doctors, patients, the legal system and the government. I'm dead set against transition to a single-payer (gov't provided) healthcare system. Doesn't matter if it is a straight gov't proposition, or the new idea being floated of a 'not for profit' "private" insurance collective backed by government funds. Anyone that buys that one at face value, by the way, has very promising opportunities in the Arizona snow removal business they should be checking out. I'm dead set against a "healthcare" bill, which Congress has NO authority to pass in the first place, which dictates racial quotas for medical students, bases physicians' decisions on cost controls rather than medical needs, gives life to a new, faceless government bureacracy that can grant or deny treatment to any given patient, requires millions of people to pay for insurance they neither want nor need, and expands government control of an economy that is already staggering under the attacks of that same government. Short answer? Put a stake through the heart of the gov't created, lifesucking vampire that is the gov't version of 'healthcare reform'.
  12. In Tennessee, it is illegal to possess a skunk. (I verified this) In Tennessee, the only animal you may shoot from a moving vehicle is... A whale. It is illegal in Tennessee to throw anything at a tree. (Verified)
  13. Buddy of mine (who still hasn't started reloading) has been shopping for years in the want ads... he picked up a Dillon 450 for $150 bucks.
  14. you will pay....
  15. Correction. Labrot and Graham Woodford Reserve Distillers Select is the best stuff ever made. Berryhills is merely the best pistol lube made.
  16. According to my wife, Mine is Hers.
  17. Assuming you meant the CZ P07, but really, your statement says it all. CZ makes quality firearms (I've owned one or two of their pistols, and have a couple rifles that I'm considering being buried with). If you've found true love, go for it!
  18. I use Berryhills' ultimate gun lube nowadays on my 1911's. Ultimate Gun Lube - $4.99 : Berryhill Custom LLC, Quality Gun Parts Really can't advise you on what would be best for a gluck. Have you tried Testors?
  19. Are you kidding? Judging from what I've seen lately, english teachers these days are more concerned with relating the dangers of global warming, gun ownership, and capitalism than teaching unimportant subjects such as grammar, spelling and composition.
  20. My BHP had asymetric grips.... Felt very good as long as I shot right-handed.
  21. The bad thing about 1911's is you can't own just one...
  22. So, when are you putting the pearl grips on it?
  23. Boolit - home cast projectile. "If it'll melt, I'm likely to make boolits out of it". Yo - half of a toy. Frequently used as a word by those with half a brain.
  24. Beautamous. What sort of pegs will you use for handgun hangers?
  25. Interesting times.... keep your powder dry.
