NRA and SDV team 2, on mine. I'm considering making one that says "Had enOugh yet?", with Obama's pepsi emblem or whatever the heck it is replacing the 'O'.

Funding the school was sgt. Yorks request - sort of. Fascinating story, short version is that he asked for a school in his home county (which was too poor to support one), the state built and funded it in recognition of his extraordinary valor in action Real shame they're closing it. I'd expect more cuts elsewhere, as obamacare puts Tennessee on the hook for an additional 700 million a year. The governor and legislature must be going quietly ballistic, trying to come up with that kind of cash. I am afraid we're going to be looking at a state income tax. You know what they say; if you think healthcare is expensive now, just wait till it's free.
-
Well, if past performance is a useful indicator, healthcare costs will soon account for 3 out of 5 dollars of the federal budget. The country will be bankrupt about 2030. Why is it supposedly intellectual people fall for the 'central planning' meme over and over? It didn't work out well for Germany (twice), Italy, the USSR, China, North Korea, Cambodia... The list goes on. Like a gambling addict, socialists fervently believe that just a few more dollars into the pot, just a little more control over this or that segment of the economy, and surely their luck will change. They can't walk away from the table, can't admit that the (very predictable) outcome will be the same as it has every other time. I feel like someone watching their spouse lose hand after hand. First the surplus, then the grocery money, finally the rent. Thanks, Bart, for upping the ante, instead of folding your welfare-state hand and walking away while it was still (painfully) survivable. Idiotic isn't the right term for this behaviour, perhaps lunacy is.

Betcha twelve pounds of possum nailed to his lip would've sobered him up quick. There's some things a possum just won't stand for.

Day by day, year by year, this country has changed into something our grandfathers wouldn't recognize. We're past the point where the founders took arms to protect basic liberties and fight oppressive taxes.. We're past the point where, in Athens, our fathers took arms to restore honest elections. Suddenly I've passed the point where I believe the media are the watchdogs of the Republic, where I believe that our elected officials represent anyone other than themselves, and past the point of thinking they put any credence into the oath they took, to defend the Constitution. I KNOW the President puts no faith in that oath, he's on record as saying it is flawed and must be changed. I pray the Supreme Court take their oaths seriously.

More than okay! Sue was down there today, says its a mess. Just give her a call. No guarantee, but I hope to make it home next weekend.

Retired military, same thing. Also realize it isn't "all about me". Not to mention that I might want to change jobs, and the burden this bill puts on employers heavily discourages hiring. That isn't going to help us out of the recession, and eventually means higher prices, stagflation, and higher taxes on those who are working. Also pretty much guarantees my house value isn't going to start climbing again any time soon. My sister in law is a nurse. She said nearly half the doctors at her hospital that are able plan to retire rather than deal with obamacare. The younger ones say they are screwed, won't be able to pay their school loans. I can have the best insurance in the world, but if it takes months to get an appointment, or years to get an operation (I'm not exaggerating, these delays are typical in Canada and Great Britain), I may die before I can get treatment. Finally, Obama's start in politics was with the American Socialist Party, and his only constant has been wealth redistribution, so I feel it neither childish nor insane to assume he means what he says, which would make him a socialist. Ask Al Sharpton.

Only (Peaceful) Way to Win Back Freedom

Constitutional Convention called by the several states. Amendment : The Fair Tax Amendment: Abolish the commerce clause, give Congress only defense and international relations Amendment: Term limits for elected and appointed offices. -
Eight years of demonstrations with signs calling for the assassination of Bush, Cheney, etc. and not a peep from democrat politicians or the media. Suddenly the shoe is on the other foot - and note that unlike the socialists, there aren't widespread demands for assassinations - and they are screaming about how dangerous this is, and how irresponsible republican leadership is at fault. In between calls for republicans to call off the dogs, they are calling conservative talk show hosts terrorists. Where was all this concern when Olbermann and others were calling for 'vigorous' protests, democrat activists were vandalizing republican offices, assaulting republican campaign workers, and Pelosi was declaring the legitimacy of political free speech? Remember the guy that tried to run over the lady pol in florida? The group of union thugs that invaded the republican campaign office, breaking one staffers arm and refusing to leave until the cops forced them to? The republican county office that got shot up, and countless other incidents? Somehow my sympathy is limited.

Welcome to TGO, Zapsib. Nice shootin', looks like a bullseye from here.

A no nonsense tool designed to reliably get the job done under almost any conditions with a minimum of frippery or fuss. The farther from original spec, or the more some wecsog graduate fools with it, the more likely you'll have problems, but that isn't the fault of the design.

Make Some $$ - Invest in Health Care?
Mark@Sea replied to Oh Shoot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
My sister in law is a nurse. Nearly half the docs at her hospital are planning early retirement because of this crap. All the insurance in the world won't help if you can't see a qualified doctor in time to make a difference. You might wanna invest in casket making, got a feeling demand will be going up. -
Late May would give me time to get it cleaned up a bit, build new target stands and so forth. Think I'd like to get a little creative, maybe come up with pop ups or reactive targets, something different, anyway. Been many years since I shot IDPA, might be fun to build a stage or two. All contributions gratefully accepted, of course. Ideas, labor, good blonde jokes...

Yep. That pretty much covers it. My only addendum is that I'm no longer willing to live and let live with socialists and morons who use demands for 'tolerance' and political correctness as a weapon and a shield to batter my ideals of liberty. You don't like the ideals this country was founded on? Find constitutional restrictions on government distasteful or unhelpful to your cause of the moment? There are plenty of places you can meddle to your hearts content. I'll help you pack,
-
Thank ghu for that: D I'm as sick of the crap coming out of both parties as you are. We've strayed a long way from our republican ideals, and I've long said the biggest problem in this country is we don't hang enough politicians. Someone once said our system of government was the worst in history - except for ever other system ever tried .

No Viagra for Sex Offenders Amendment
Mark@Sea replied to Oh Shoot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I could only wish the good of the country was the prime consideration. Unfortunately, we have a chief executive whose goal is the destruction of the country, and shortsighted, greedy, or whacko pols. Under these circumstances, I don't blame the few principled men in DC for taking what shots they can. I'm beginning to really like Senator Coburn. -
No Viagra for Sex Offenders Amendment
Mark@Sea replied to Oh Shoot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
OS, ANY amendment of the Senate bill would trigger what? Another vote in the house. Right, that'll happen I think it's funny aa hell that Senate Republicans just got the dems to choose supporting giving sexual arousal drugs to rapists. -
what then, is the answer, OS? You rail against the GOP more than you do the socialists, and now rail against the only true citizens movement, which incidentally is doing a halfway decent job of reforming the GOP back to it's conservative roots. Pick a course and stick with it, this circular argument makes me dizzy.

Wow... if we have it so good here, with our (formerly) limited government and capitalist society, then the former USSR and eastern block states must be a Paradise on earth. I have to admire someone who would leave such a workers paradise to bring the gospel of St. Marx to us poor backward souls. Thank you for your selfless sacrifice, Strel. It must be tough for you.
-
Businesses attempting to make a profit for themselves (or specifically their owners / shareholders )? How un-soviet of them! Yes, after creating very nearly the most hostile business environment in the world, our congressional comrades should punish them harshly for their criminal capitalist tendencies! Strel, y'ain't from around here, are ya..... Say, wouldn't "importing socialism" be a better thread title?

Fire on the mountain.... Do you suppose there's a reason DHS just let a contract for 200 million rounds of 40cal ober the next five years?
-
With immigration reform next on the agenda (amnesty/citizenship for possibly 30 million illegal aliens), the 2012 election and a permanent socialist government is already a done deal.

Mike, my place is a mess after all the snow and rain. There's a creek running through it right now
