IMHO, threads concerning the various #occupy camps belong in the "zombie apocalypse" forum.

Vere are zee papers -- TSA hits the roads in TN
Mark@Sea replied to sigmtnman's topic in General Chat
It won't become common practice because it's unproductive? And how many terrorists has TSA intercepted in the last ten years? Lemme do the math on this... Let's say 100 billion, decided by ZERO terrorists... I don't think cost effectiveness figures into TSA ops planning. As far as stopping just short of violating constitutional rights, I'd say that was pretty much toast the first time a TSA 'agent' rammed his hand down some ladies' skirt. A lot of people dealt with this crap by refusing to fly. They try pulling it at random roadblocks, I have a feeling that about 2 hours after they fondle some good ole boys 6 year old daughter, they'll find all the 'terrorism' they can handle. Well, I tell a lie. Given their track record, it'll find them. -

OWS protestors Oakland CA Amazingly Ignorant
Mark@Sea replied to JG55's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Spouting BS to put the opposition on the defensive to give them less time to attack your argument is right out of Alinskys' rules for radicals. An excellent example is the many, many uses of the accusation of racism when in fact race has nothing to do with it. The best defense that comes to mind is to call a spade a spade, refuse to apologize for acknowledging the facts, and move on. Like the 60's peace protests, financed and directed by KGB, OWS protests are staged and financed by organizations who have no interest in financial accountability (or free speech, for that matter). Just a sideshow, with more clowns than usual. -

OWS protestors Oakland CA Amazingly Ignorant
Mark@Sea replied to JG55's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The OWS group ( I won't call it a movement, because it isn't ) is a fully owned and operated subsidiary of Soros and unions. Comparing plants at Tea Party events to the overwhelming majority of the OWS crowd is worse than dishonest. How many Tea Party folks were paid to attend a rally? How many were bussed in by unions, or hired through craigslist, or given extra credit to attend? How many MSM talking heads reported on Tea Party rallies while simultaneously coaching speakers? OWS has three purposes - attempt to appear as a credible counterpoint to the Tea Party, push the boundaries of accepted socialist political behavior under the guise of free speech, and be the stick in the carrot and stick game of democrats soliciting campaign donations. Call it an acceptable exercise of free speech if you want to. You can call a goat a duck, but it won't lay eggs. By the way, socialism isn't merely some noble thought experiment conducted by a philosopher, it has proven itself again and again to be an efficient machine for turning people into corpses. If someone seriously espouses violence in support of it, I regard shooting them to be a logical response. That's what the second amendment is there for, no point in ignoring the truth. -
Shaved today with one of my straight razors. There is a learning curve involved - and I am by no means near the top yet - but happy to report no nicks and a very close shave.

On JB Dennis, here in Kingsport. They have a website ( www.tricityknifeworks.com ) and a fair inventory... Just found the place myself, thought I would toss it out for you guys...

View From The Porch: The Silly Season gets sillier... So yesterday, Mitt Romney, who is a New York newsroom liberal's idea of what a conservative Republican should be like, gained the support of all three dozen loyal backers of Tim Pawlenty. This should, theoretically at least, give Romney a base in the potent GOP machinery of those noted Red State strongholds, Massachusetts and Minnesota, which between them muster almost enough registered Republican voters to fill a smallish Ramada conference room. The media promptly wet itself a little bit with joy, since an Obama/Romney race in November of next year would be their dream situation, being, as it were, a sort of de facto second Democrat primary.

Hey, folks - how about my place, just outside of Kingsport? Same bat time, same bat channel. I'll work on getting the range cleared up (weedeating, etc) the next couple days... I can't provide food, just a place to shoot. Bring targets and stands - mine are pretty much shot. Anyone needing directions, please email me at oldradartech at gmail dot com, or call 423 292 0088

There's an old joke about hypothetical versus actual... Opposing views aren't taught in schools. AGW is held out as the final word in climate science. AGW isn't science, it is propaganda brought to the fever pitch of a cult.

Very sorry to hear it, Nutcase. I'd been wondering where you folks got off to. Really enjoyed hosting the shoot with Gunslinger, it was obvious how much he enjoyed it. My deepest condolences... Mark

Good man, he will be missed.

Can somebody please point to a "green" initiative that has actually saved us money - or for that matter, energy? Windpower - nope, cost us billions and lost jobs Solar power - second verse, same as the first. Another half-billion lost today, in fact. Etha-effing-nol? Please - takes more in fuel to produce than you get out of it, not to mention reduced mileage and engine damage. Billions lost in subsidies, to boot. EPA regs restricting coal power? Yeah, I like the idea of losing 30% of our generating capacity with nothing to replace it. Flourescent bulbs - I'm gonna beat you with a crowbar until you see the light. Jobs lost. Hazardous waste. Lousy output matched by lousy lifespan. Carbon trading scams? Uh huh. What color is the sky in your world, again? Electric vehicles? Say, Sparky, where do you suppose the juice comes from? So far, every green initiative has cost us billions, lost American jobs, increased consumer costs, and done diddly to "reduce our dependence on foreign oil", "save the planet/polar bears/south sea islanders" or any of the other code phrases used by the watermellon left to attempt to justify the economic, political and in some cases ecological damages their BS has caused. After being called a "Denier" for years, threatened with all sorts of dire consequences, ridiculed, insulted and slandered - take your green platitudes and attitudes and shove it.

NOT "Any other country". Libyan and Syrian rebels are not particulary pro-US. Dissenters in Iran? Pro-western. Look how much support they got. Zip.

Just something for the P238, but it isn't ready for prime time yet.

You're asleep & backdoor glass breaks...
Mark@Sea replied to zapfbroad's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Man, that's just mean... Wife has a bedside choice - .38 snubby or .40 carbine with flashlight/laser and 30 round mag. I have a bedside vest with 1911 and extra mags, M1 carbine or AR. If I have to get out of bed, though, things will get nasty. -
Handy piece. Put a flashlight/laser on one (.40), it is now my wifes' "bump in the night" response tool.

I'm starting to get the hang of this....

A few I've made...

CMP M1 H&R, shoots 1/3 MOA with surplus Lake City ammo. Rebuilt for me on a laminate stock almost 20 years ago by a USMC armorer. Not black, do I still get cool points? [/img]

Well, I have used milsurp flares once or twice, but if you prepare the fire properly, anything will do... Personal favorite is a triox tab, combined with a bit of hand cleaner if the wood is wet.

Welcome to TGO. Can't fault for the transgressions of ancestors, I have a few tales to tell in that vein myself. One is pretty funny, involving a pig, a Yankee, and a daughter... but I generally have to imbibe heavily before relating that particular piece of family legend... (it works out okay in the end, the Yankee was shot). If you need a place to shoot, give me a holler! I didn't want to hike for a living, retired Navy here. Fellow afficianado and deacon of the church of JMB. Again, welcome to the forum. V/R

Use a spray bottle or sponge, and thoroughly dampen the leather. Give it a few minutes, then repeat. The leather will become pliable. A word of caution, when wet, it will take a stain from almost anything, so use a new sponge, clean rag, what have you, and make sure your hands are clean. Wrap your Rossi in a layer of wax paper, and work it into the holster. Don't be afraid to shove on it a bit, you should not be able to break quality stitching very easily. Allow to dry. If you have questions shoot me a pm. Worst case, if the maker won't help you out, I have a '92 and will fit it for you.

Kill the maneater because, duh, it is a maneater. Kill the cubs because without the mother they're in for a slow death. We didn't get to the top of the food chain by joining the Sierra Club.
