I have spares, the manual, wrenches, heck I may have one or two stoves NIB still. New gaskets (not o-rings, flat fuel proof gaskets) are available, as are leather fuel pump cups. New rubber checkvalves are simple - a punch, a piece of rubber gasket material, and contact cement. The 'generator' assembly can be completely disassembled and cleaned (Luv those ultrasonic cleaners). Other than the above, about the only thing that can go wrong with this rugged little anvil is the fuel tank rusting out, and I've seen that once in maybe 50 or 60 of these stoves. Yep, a full set of spares should be in the pump tube. The rubber gasket is almost certainly dry-rotted and stiff as a board. Neatsfoot oil on the leather pump cup, please, as petroleum based lubricant will eventually rot the leather.

Just read an update. Zimmerman (elected as neighborhood watch captain) lost sight of Martin because Martin was walking quite slowly on a pathway between the town houses instead of on the well lighted sidewalks in front of the houses. Martin apparently hides in some bushes. Zimmerman gets out of his SUV to look for Martin, fails to find him, and is returning to his SUV when Martin comes up behind him. Martins GF hears Martin ask Zimmerman "Why are you following me?". She hears Zimmerman ask "What are you doing around here?". The next sound is apparently Martin responding to the question by punching Zimmerman. Zimmerman falls partially onto the concrete sidewalk. Martin sits on him and starts banging his head into the concrete. Multiple witnesses now state that Martin initiated use of force and that Zimmerman was getting his head smashed in - and calling for help - before he shot. Really looking for trouble to take a beating before you shoot a guy that assaults you, huh? My training in use of force was somewhat different than others have posted here. Doesn't matter. Zimmerman isn't a cop - so he doesn't get the respect a cop would get. -

Some folks around here got their use of force curriculum in a strange school. Asking someone what their business is in your neighborhood is grounds to get beaten, but responding to a beating with a firearm is a no-no. -

Hey, at least it wasn't scissors! And what is the difference between a 1911 with the safety off and a gluck? -
.357 Lever guns If you can, get them through this fellow. I've dealt with him. He's good people, knows the 92 inside and out.

If you are thinking of buying used, read this first. If you go new, heck with all the fancy stuff, get a springfield armory milspec. My 2 cents.

I saw an enhanced frame of the video from the police station. It is still crappy low-rez, but Zimmerman had a hell of a gash on the back of his head. One of the cops makes an obvious check of it. It is equally obvious in the ABC news version that their "ABC News Exclusive" graphic is deliberately placed (and in fact moves slightly) to occlude the gash. I don't live in a gated community. Even so, I am familiar with most everyone that lives on my road. If I see a 'person of interest', I will follow and greet if possible. If the 'person of interest' has an attitude, I'm gonna be real curious as to their intentions. This is not an aggressive act. If they decide to to start a fight, then it is Katy bar the door. Zimmerman claims Martin struck first. Eyewitness sees Martin as the attacker. Eyewitness reports Zimmerman screaming for help. Injuries noted in the police report are consistent with Zimmermans' account and eyewitness account. Absolutely NO evidence or eyewitness account that Zimmerman was the aggressor at any point. Respectfully request that statements made here that Zimmerman is a coward be substantiated. Likewise that Zimmerman deserved being brutally assaulted. Please be prepared to support your conclusion with the evidence we have at hand. Alternately, suggest you be very cautious walking down my road. -
New to the Forum, any friendlies out there?

Hey, welcome home. If you want to take a ride to Mooresburg, you can shoot for free at my place. I'd hate having to go to a range anymore. -
Awww dang. You had to bring up black powder. I just loaded up the '51 colt for tomorrows safari. My scales are still packed, so I guesstimated my loads with a .38 shell. Does this count as a BUG gun match?

Gotta love the CZ What ammo? I went through a dozen different brands, mine likes CCI Green Tag better than anything else.

Maybe this IS how Stand Your Ground works

Everyone making Zimmerman out as being at fault are predicating on the belief that you don't have the right to ask a stranger in your neighborhood what they are up to. For some here, asking a stranger that is enough of a provocation that you should "get your azz beat". Are you kidding me? -
Stereotypes have a habit of being based on factual trends. Politicians have one and only one trick in their bag - Take from them, and give it to you folks. The excuses they use for doing this are many. Claiming that "them" are privileged, and that "you" are therefore entitled, is pretty much a stock excuse, frequently given a quick re-paint or new trim, and sold to people who want to buy it and are more than happy to ignore the logical defects.

Ha. Yeah, bugout for me would mean retreating from the deck to the living room. I carry a 16 inch bbl AR on the back forty (well, back 3000 now) for coyotes and such. I'm a little iffy on using a shorty barrel with a round that needs all the MV it can get. Cheap optical and iron backups. If I were buggin out on wheels I would choose a 30 caliber platform. Come to think of it, an M1 carbine would do as well for the nature walks, and is lighter than the AR to boot. Hmmm....

Well, a lot of "appeals to emotion" here. He was somebodys' child. So are we all, last I checked. Being under the legal limit for alcohol does not an angel make. Disregard all the politically driven emotionally charged pravda, and we are down to the fact that the responding officers did not arrest. The local prosecutor did not believe there was enough evidence to indict. An on-the-scene witness stated that the shooter was attacked from behind, and was on the ground being beaten when he pulled the trigger. The only conflicting witness, apparently was the dead guys' girlfriend, who was on the phone. I personally have no doubt that the girlfriend would only tell the truth, don't you? So, given the facts, there are two possibilities here - either this was almost certainly a justified shoot, or the town of Sanford is a KKK hotbed, including at least 2 cops, the chief of police, and the county prosecutor, who are conspiring to protect a hispanic shooter. Occams razor, anyone? I doubt at this point it would be possible to find an unbiased Grand Jury, this man having been convicted and sentenced in the court of public opinion by everyone up to and including the POTUS. Tough times for this guy. Interesting (and not in a good way, I'm afraid) to see what Holder and co. say about the Black Panthers putting a bounty on his head. And as an aside, I seem to recall at least once before in this forum a rush to judgement against an HCP holder in a shoot which was later found to be completely justified. We more than anyone should realize that the reason so many people are getting permits is that sometimes, some people need to be shot. Unless I am in a minority, and the majority are getting the permits for the cool points or something... -

Obama Executive Order: Peacetime Martial Law!
Mark@Sea replied to QuietDan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
President and his specifically designated Secretaries now have the authority to commandeer all domestic U.S. resources including food and water. The EO also states that the President and his Secretaries have the authority to seize all transportation, energy, and infrastructure inside the United States as well as forcibly induct/draft American citizens into the military. The EO also contains a vague reference in regards to harnessing American citizens to fulfill “labor requirements†for the purposes of national defense. -
David, it isn't just race, if you haven't noticed. Free speech is fine (as long as the left agree with what is said). Cursing women is fine, (as long as the woman is Republican). Death threats? Anything said by a right winger that can be twisted or deliberately misinterpreted is primae facie evidence of our incivility and violent tendencies, whereas clearly spoken desires for a Republican to die a horrible death are excusable. Vote fraud or intimidation at the polls? Nah, just a fevered republican desire to deny Mickey Mouse his clear right to a ballot. Sure, I know lots of people named Mickey, what're you, some kind of racist? The left are in a war to the death. We're still practicing politics.

'Liberals'. I'd bet cash money that Melonea Marek could care less about women who decline to be victims. Her organization needs rape victims in order to generate cash. As for Brady, they lie. They've lied for years, been caught out many times. If they said the sky was blue I'd expect an eclipse. Any resemblance to actual facts on their part is purely accidental and entirely unintended.

Obama or Romney? Geez, tough call. Think I'd go with Obama. The crash (and thus the rebuilding) will be quicker.

Two more for Paul at this house... I look at it this way. BO is driving the country straight to hell. Every other Republican candidate is arguing which route to hell the country should take. RP is the only one that wants to go to Disneyland instead.

Very hard to fault the quality of the Argentine 1911's. Built on Colt machinery, by Colt trained techs. I have a number of 1911's. My two favorites for carry are an argentine Sistema, and a philipine gun built for Cimarron. Both are reliable, accurate, and darn good looking.

Still a problem for me. This is the only forum I use that refuses to let me post with my android phone native browser. Posting - or just reading the forum - from 6 home system has become so painfully slow that I don't bother. I'm one of the unfortunate few with no alternative to dialup. Result - I occasionally stop by for a quick browse, but almost never find it worthwhile to close my phone browser, reopen the aftermarket crap, and post a reply.
