  1. No Uniform, how about an official Neighborhood Watch SUV?
  2. Yeah, that would be feasible. I started cutting around noon. Got interrupted by weed eating chores, but it is coming along nicely.
  3. Mike .357 speaks highly of the highpoint carbines.
  4. audio enhancement and human analysis = put it through a mixer, play with it until it sounds like what you want it to. Valid voiceprint analysis is possible, but it would require the original tapes, rather than the compressed, digitized files available through the internet.
  5. Right off hand, I can't think of any other auto with a better trigger than a 1911*. A properly tuned 1911 trigger is a thing of beauty, and even the run of the mill GI triggers I have aren't bad. *excepting a browning pistol I have, built for olympic competition that you have to try to believe. Don't think that should count.
  6. God made all men. Sam Colt made all men equal. And that is as it should be. What's next, Dave? Penis jokes?
  7. Better copper jacket those rounds, Lester. Lead might just melt due to "re-entry friction".
  8. If I am picturing what you want correctly, why not (using 2 pieces of leather) have the rough outside toward your body, and a smooth finished piece over that, with the pocket for the gun in between? You get the gripping effect toward your body, but it still allows your pants to conform as you move. Thumb snaps are popular. If molded well enough, though, you don't need it. If you can turn the holster upside down and it retains the pistol, do you need a retaining strap? A stiffining layer for reholstering sounds good, if you carry IWB. I'd suggest making both 'sides' of pretty stout leather - 3/8's or thereabouts. Leave about an inch 'margin' on the inside piece so that the pistol doesn't dig into you anywhere. JAB's idea will work. Sounds like it'll make a neat little holster.
  9. NBC News Charged With Misleading Editing in Zimmerman 911 Call. In the NBC segment, Zimmerman says: “This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black.†The full version, though, unfolds like this: Zimmerman: “This guy looks like he’s up to no good, or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about.†911 operator: “Okay. And this guy, is he white black or Hispanic?†Zimmerman: “He looks black.â€
  10. One glaring assumption, and one crucial step omitted. The assumption is that asking someone what they are doing is tantamount to assault The omission is what happened between 3 and 4. All physical evidence, witness statements and police reports are consistent with step 3.5 being Martin physically assaulting Zimmerman. With this as an example, I could go down to the credit union and make a withdrawal, and get shot dead for it. We'll just assume I have an account there, and omit the part where I'm using a gun instead of a withdrawal slip. Hey, this is a fun game. Anybody else want to play?
  11. Whoops, sorry, wrong thread. Thought you were referring to POTUS
  12. Tinfoil time - what if the riots are staged the day of the election?
  13. You couldn't pay me enough to live in a city right now.
  14. I'm not a big 10/22 fan, but I gotta get one of these. Looks like it'd make a good hiking toy, without the bulk of the Henry survival rifle (or whatever they are calling the AR7 these days), and without the "Oh crap I dinged it" factor of the browning.
  15. Stand Your Ground removes the imbecilic "duty to retreat" used by so many prosecutors to convict honest people for defending themselves. For example, the elderly guy who shot an intruder rather than jump out of a second story window in his own home (that being an "escape route") who was convicted of murder. Castle doctrine removed the duty to retreat from your own home. Stand your ground extended that to pretty much anyplace you are legally allowed (public streets, for example). This case has NOTHING to do with Stand Your Ground, as Martin was on the offensive, and Zimmerman didn't have the ability to retreat.
  16. I thought I remembered reading it, and I just dug it up. Lester, forget the wimpy 44 mag. Go with a .454, that'll get those varmints. How about a 325 grain hard cast bullet at 2200+ fps? Model 92 in 454 Magnum
  17. You might be able to give me a Rossi revolver, I wouldn't buy one. The rifle is a whole different beast. When new they are stiff - if you know what you are doing, or get some decent instructions (see Steve Youngs site) the bearing surfaces are easily polished. I would suggest replacing the plastic follower with a steel part - that is inexpensive and reasonably easy to do. Mine is slick, feeds well, ejects positively unless I don't work the action with any authority at all. Longer 38s function well too. For home defense, I'd much rather have the easily maneuvered carbine. Even with the steel buttplate, in this caliber kick is negligible - easily handled by those of smaller stature. Lightweight to boot, and if you do have to bug out, an old cowboy gun doesn't get the same negative reaction as an EBR. The 92 action (JMB, of course) is super strong. No problems there at all. And yep, even the 38 gets a pretty respectable boost from a 16 inch tube. It wouldn't be my first choice past 100, 150 yards, but my house isn't that big. Put a soft point or hollowpoint in it, you won't get any complaints from customers. I bought this rifle for my wife. It supplanted the M4 that she decided she didn't trust. This one was her baby until she discovered the M1 carbine, so now it sits on my rack again. I don't need it - but it is a lot of fun. You ever get up this way, you're welcome to take it for a spin.
  18. Nice shootin.
  19. 6.8, those facts are not in dispute. They aren't even facts. Treyvon Martin was walking down the street between townhouses in a gated community in which he was a visitor, not a permanent resident Zimmerman started the fight with a swift nose to Martins' knuckles. Treyvon Martin had no duty to retreat either. He had a right to “stand his ground†and fight his attacker continue beating the guy he attacked Unfortunately for Treyvon he brought a set of fists to a gun fight attacked a legally armed private citizen And because he didn’t have the physical ability to take care of business he (and many others) feel that when he figured out he bit off more than he could chew; it’s okay to take out a gun and kill the kid. He’s wrong, and he’s going to find out just how wrong he is. Blah blah blah, a real man doesn't need to carry a gun, he settles everything with his fists. These are pretty much the same 'facts', arguments and attitudes you can get at, say, huffpost or the various Brady orgs. Only cops need to carry guns.
  20. The crappy triggerpull is a safety feature?
  21. We have a winna.
  22. If you change your mind on the optics... with a little shopping, you can get a good used Colt. Series II woodsman or the Challenger. If you can accept some cosmetic issues you can get one very reasonably, and they are fine shooters. A few years back I shelled out big bucks (for an E-5 at the time, it was big bucks, anyway) and I've never regretted it. They are a little hard to find, maybe, but I'll put my Browning Medalist toe to toe with any pistol - and most .22 rifles - you can think of.
  23. Thanks for the vote of confidence! Glad to hear the lantern is getting a workout. I've gotten rid of about half my collection, though - I moved. Managed to find a place with more woods around it. You ever want to go mountain camping, give me a shout - a couple thousand acres here to get lost in.
  24. You just gotta know people. Next time you get over Rogersville way, bring your heater. I can mold up a leather holster for it in an hour. It'll take about 3 days to finish, but I don't need the pistola for that.
