  1. Shoot as fast as lightning but she loaded mighty slow Loaded mighty slow and I soon found out Get you into trouble but it wouldn't get you out... from "The Devils' Right Hand"
  2. 5 dead including Occupy gunman
  3. Shipped right to your door. Not a firearm, according to ATF. Neither is the conversion cylinder. I WOULD NOT use a conversion cylinder with the brass frame. My .36 '51 can hold a pretty good group. In fact, I sold off my .44's. I need another cap and ball pistol like a fish needs a bicycle, but it wouldn't break my heart.
  4. My mid-70s commander is a polished blue. Frame and slide match.
  5. No hurry. Have gun at the funshow!
  6. Mike, I need to borrow your cattleman... park ranger up at the gap wants a crossdraw holster for one... I can make you a cowboy, flap or shoulder holster for your BP pistols if you want - also a cap box and a belt carrier for the powder flask.
  7. Cabelas is running a nice sale. If I had the needful to spare, I'd pick up one or two... Steel frame remington $229 Brass frame 51 Colt $179 Steel 1860 .44 Colt $239 Steel '51 .36 Colt $239 And several others....
  8. Occupy Cleveland spokesman, 4 others, arrested for plotting to blow up a bridge
  9. Told an ex-wife once "Well, I didn't need you, either" That didn't work out well.
  10. Thanks, guys. I had previously made a flap holster, so I had the beginnings of a pattern. Sewing took a while, as all my stuff is hand stitched.
  11. I happened to be up at Cumberland Gap this weekend, and caught the tail end of a civil war re-enactment. Got to talking with some of the re-enactors, and as a result, I got very little sleep Saturday night. This is what I did instead - a shoulder holster (adjustable, with a belt loop) for an 1851 Colt 7.5 inch barrel black powder pistol. It hangs a bit low on me, even at the tightest adjustment point - but the fellow I made it for is a bit bigger than me in a couple dimensions... I was able to get it to him in time for the last 'battle' on Sunday. I'm gonna make a couple of minor changes and make a couple more of these.
  12. Well, if you can open a tiny hole in the containment in a specific direction, you've got a helluva carry weapon.
  13. Depending on the intensity, I can think of several uses for a contained plasma field... And obviously, some folks don't use that grey matter between their ears for anything more important than fertilizing hair.
  14. If you ever make it over toward Morristown, give me a shout. I've got a P238 she could try, and a couple of other candidates - M1903 and 1907 Colts.
  15. Thanks, Glen
  16. I've got a couple - good pistols. I need to make some more carry holsters for them - I've made at least a dozen, but keep selling them for some reason. I have always shot the commercial stuff in them - the bores are decent and I don't want to take a chance on the corrosive stuff when there is a readily available alternative. If you are gonna shoot surplus, PM me. I have some GI WWII bore cleaner (the milky white stuff) which is supposed to be good for cleaning after shooting corrosive ammo. Someone just gave me a Nagant revolver. Nice piece. Not one of the re-arsenaled guns, but still pretty decent. Doesn't have the importers billboard on the side (no import marks at all, actually), and someone at sometime worked over the trigger. It used to have a couple setscrews to limit overtravel and set pull. They're gone, but single action pull is sweet. Double is pretty hefty, though... Unfortunately the only ammo I can find is surplus.
  17. This is at least the third time this particular issue has come up in the last five years. They tried this last year with another gun parts company. You know the old saying - First time, an accident. Second time, coincidence. Third time is enemy action. We left BoA 5 years ago - the first time they pulled this crap. Our local credit union has better rates, MUCH better service, and better access.
  18. For the stamps - I bought a half-ton arbor press (harbor freight, 30 bucks) and got a local machine shop to drill the bottom of the arbor. It holds the stamp 'foot' adaptor, or can take it out and put a craftool in it. Works a heck of a lot better, and cost me about $75 total. Tandy sells something similiar but they want about 275 for it, if I recall correctly. I'm gonna try to get down there Saturday for the big sale. I'm short on some stuff. If you get a chance to swing by, I have a pretty good process for holsters. I've tried to change my sidebar info - I am in Mooresburg, now. About 15 minutes north of Morristown
  19. Judge in Texas asks the old lady why she shot the carjacker six times in the head.... "Your Honor, I was just too nervous to reload"
  20. What happened to Bernie Goetz was what happened to many people before SYG and Castle Doctrine. A prosecutor decided that self defense was no reason to kill someone, and continued persecuting Goetz even after he was cleared. Guy in Massachusetts (sorry, no link) was just found guilty for killing a home intruder, because he did not 'retreat' from his home. The fact that his young daughter was in the home, asleep, and wouldn't have been able to retreat cut no ice. No CD in that state, obviously.
  21. Yeah, looks like it is done. I still see references in comments elsewhere - all the BS debunked on this thread. Once again illustrating that what gets in the media first usually shapes the conversation, regardless of actual facts or later corrections. IF this gets to trial, no way Zimmerman gets convicted. Hopefully no final verdict until after the election and Holder is out on the curb with a cup full of pencils, else the 'just-us' department will railroad him on some BS civil rights show-trial.
  22. I used craftools #B701, Z-B701, and F899. Use light strikes and continue going over it until it is what you want. The Tandy factory outlet in Knoxville gives classes, but I've never been able to attend. I'm entirely self taught - I'm sure there is a better way to do it, this is just what works for me.
  23. The someone who replaces the safety is Steve Young. He also does a helluvan action job (I can highly recommend). He will, if you like, get a factory new carbine or rifle, get it running beautifully, replace the safety (and the plastic mag plug) and ship it to your ffl. I'm in Mooresburg now - about 12 miles west of Rogersville. If you want to head over this way you can try one of Steves' '92's - a stainless carbine (.357/38). I've had this one for 6 or 8 years. Never had any issues at all. PM me if you want to try it out, see if Steve's work suits you.
  24. Thanks. Did this one for a buddy last week... I'd like to get more practice with carving, but not too many seem to want it....
