  1. I have a couple Prince Albert cans, actually - but I'm using them for my old telegraph setup.
  2. Yeah, speaking of which, I found out you can get new/empty/unpainted shoe polish tins for a dime. Only hitch is you have to order 5000, which slightly exceeds my char-cloth/penny stove/tinder box needs.
  3. I've found and ordered a striker and flint. I know, I coulda found a rock, but I needed a flint for my queen anne anyway... I haven't looked real hard for jute, the sisal works. Not as well, but it works. In my limited experimentation, I found that char cloth made from old military cleaning patches works better than cut up blue jeans.
  4. Made up my first batch tonight in an Altoids tin. Must have lucked out, it turned out great! Couldn't find Jute fiber right off hand, so I birdcaged some short lengths of sisal twine. Caught one tiny spark, and within 30 seconds I had fire. I cheated a little - I don't have flint and steel, I used a firesteel. A spark is a spark, right? Still - I made FIRE!
  5. Might be able to lay my hands on some GI mags for it, if you need 'em.
  6. That wasn't a great photo, got a better one this morning. It is 7 inches by 7 inches, roughly...
  7. I'm more inclined to think the chicago boys got to him. It is now clear he changed his vote.
  8. How about something like this for the next rendezvous? Too fancy? Too plain? What say you, Timestepper and WD?
  9. Really regret missing the rest of the day - I got a call, and had to beat feet.
  10. No worries. Sent you my address in a PM.
  11. It's for a baby eagle. The paddle is soft leather, rough side out. Not dishrag soft, but pliable. The 'rib' across the paddle isn't to give it rigidity, it catches the underside of the belt through the pants, and helps to keep the holster from coming out of your pants when you draw. It's needed - the holster is boned tightly enough that it will retain the loaded pistol when held upside down and (lightly) shaken. That are a heavy gat! A modified steel spring clip is sewn to both the paddle and the holster to keep the holster from being floppy. No exposed metal or seams inside the paddle. There are some stitches, but they are recessed to avoid irritation. Dennis, it would be a simple matter to add something to the plastic paddle with contact cement. If you'll mail me a tracing, I have some thick suede that might be suitable. I could cut and send you a piece. But the plastic is still going to be rigid regardless.
  12. It didn't but I did!
  13. Seems like something different every other week... I finished this one Friday. It may be uglier than homemade sin, but it's rock solid.
  14. Great fun, guys - really sorry I missed the tanning class! You're all welcome up this way anytime.
  15. Depends who built it - all NM's are not equal. Does the receiver have a rear lug? Has the gas system been unitized? If those two = yes, then it is definitely worth a look. ] Barrel life for match shooters is in the neighborhood of 5000 rounds. If it has had that many through it, doesn't mean it is worn out, just worn out for match purposes. Replacing the barrel isn't that big a deal if you know a smith that knows what he is doing with these. Worth? Depends. A rear lugged receiver built up with GI parts by a smith I respect is easily worth 2500. I'd happily (well, when I was employed) pay above that for a nice new Krieger barrel. Can they shoot? Man, like a house afire. You can take it waaay past 600 yards with good ammo. I've pulled targets for a guy that kept putting them through the spotter peg from 300 yards.
  16. Well, looks like I'll be headed that way myself. I plan on leaving about two, hope to get there about 5:30 tomorrow afternoon.

    Ruger SR 9

I need to borrow one for a day to make a holster.
  18. You suppose 2 pounds of meth has something to do with it?

    Ruger SR 9

    Anyone have one?
  21. Pelosi also said that the contempt finding against Holder was an attempt to suppress voters, it has nothing to do with gunrunning. Her brain obviously clocked out years ago, what remains is the best evidence I know of that zombies are real.
  22. More fitting to say the Greek people enslaved themselves. Remember the parable of the pigs and the corn? The Greeks have been living the life of Reilly - unemployment, early retirement, healthcare, the whole nine yards. Thing is, they've been doing it on (mostly) Germanys' dime. Ths "crippling" bailout agreement amounts to the bank telling you no more debt limit raises on your credit card until you get a job - or at least start looking.
  23. The hippies are coming, the hippies are coming...
  24. Okay, here is an oddball for you... I need 4 empty plastic CCI ammo boxes for this caliber. I'd pay shipping...
