Biden: Executive orders, action can be taken on guns
Mark@Sea replied to QuietDan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
All these different groups - but look up the executive officers. You're seeing the same people. Sounds impressive to have 6 or 8 different organizations, but in reality, there are but one or two different groups of people here. Also noticed that none of these people are pro-gun. Not one group. Not one 'survivor'. This is a railroading, plain and simple. -
The Chicago way - lean on WM and other retailers - nice little chain you got there. Shame if something were to happen to it. By the way, I really don't like to see you selling guns/ammo/magazines. So, how are your taxes? Are you EPA compliant? Are you in compliance with OSHA regs? Etc. etc. ad nauseum.

Yeah, this is right up there with Obama telling Boehner we don't have a spending problem. We're sunk, folks. Stand by for high seas and heavy rolls.

At least Dave is consistent. I find myself consistently disagreeing with him. Not sure why we are disagreeing over something that has been proven to work. Start googling, see how many school shooters have been stopped by ordinary people - principles, teachers, other (college) students. Compare results to incidents where no one was allowed to carry, except for possibly 'resource officers'. Do the math. The answer is staring everyone right in the face, and only the willfully blind will not see. "Gun-Free Zones" are killing fields. It doesn't take a specialist, it doesn't require law enforcement, you don't have to be a world-class IPSC competitor. It requires two things - the right tool and a will to live. Keep in mind that every requirement or restriction beyond those two basics is a sop to someones' fear, and an impediment to survival. -

From what I've read, most of them suicide at the first sign of armed resistance. The available data suggest you don't need a swat team. -

I don't see a need for any training beyond marksmanship. I'm guessing here, but I'd say a majority of HCP holders are more interested in marksmanship than the average police officer. If you want to make the marksmanship test harder than the current HCP or police quals, fine by me. This isn't a job, or an extra duty. This is simply allowing those who want to lawfully carry. They need to identify a threat (He has a gun/knife/hammer and is threatening me/a student/a teacher) and do what it takes to negate the threat. Anybody who can't figure out this decision matrix shouldn't be allowed to teach children. Heck, they shouldn't be allowed to drive. This decision matrix is no more complicated than the one any HCP holder has to use, so why bugger it up? Keep it simple. For situations that are not an immediate threat, call the police. Don't try to turn teachers into cops; they don't need to be a police officer to recognize and react to a clear and present danger. -

Yes, police get years of training - in the law, and how it is applied. Marksmanship, etc. - not so much. A shooting enthusiast is liable to outshoot a police officer. Let those who want, carry. A school resource officer (like the one in Colorado) is likely to be elsewhere, or eating lunch, or just a check collector who isn't gonna risk his life. The teacher is the one already there, and when put in a position of shoot or die, there isn't any question of what laws the nutcase is breaking, or what constitutes an illegal search, or if his miranda rights have been observed. Shoot until there is no threat, and settle questions afterwards. -

He's head of an association that has a very good chance of adding a significant number of dues paying members. Same for the head of the consulting firm. Follow the money. -
Won't help them in the long run.

A predecessor of VPC sent people to various cities to protest gun shows. They'd show up at city council meetings and whatnot. Tried to shut down the show in Hampton, VA in the '90's. The guy presented himself as a resident of Hampton, was terribly upset with gun shows in his city, associating Hampton with violence, increased crime after shows, blah blah blah... The gun show promoter had gotten wind of it previously, and was able to prove in the same meeting that the guy was a Handgun Control/Brady employee, newly arrived resident, who had moved (or been paid to move) to Hampton for the purpose of getting the show shut down. I think the promoter had been 'hit' by this tactic in a couple other cities previously. I've heard that VPC hired 'protestors' for a shot show and other large gunshows. Anyone paying attention has noticed the merging of this administration with left wing groups - seamless transitions from unions, abortion groups, various 'minority rights', 'green' and extremist orgs to administration posts. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if this report were true.

They are doing it in Illinois, next the country
Mark@Sea replied to N2thebox's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
They were 2 votes shy, and have until wednesday to get it passed. It would get shot down in the Supreme Court, but by the time it gets there, all the guns would be destroyed, or the owners felons. -

Nice score. You're really gonna like the 15-22. I've got a line on some nice mags for it, pm for details. -
The gun ban goes down, like a young Linda Lovelace, only with more choking. They were only 2 votes short of passage, though, and they have until next Wednesday to strongarm a couple more votes. The reason you won't find it in local news should be pretty obvious - they are hoping that gun owners will think they dodged the bullet and quit calling their legislators.

Mako Defense has some good looking steel AR mags

Yeah, that'll turn up at the next gun show. I make a special effort to avoid those guys.

Feinstein 1995, wanted complete ban on guns
Mark@Sea replied to Sam1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Feinstein still wants a complete ban. If she can't get that, she'll take whatever she can get. Bans on certain features, bans on certain firearms or types of firearms, magazine bans, ammo bans (remember what happened to Black Talon? Totally worthless). Go. Read this. -
The Tennessean is owned by the Gannet chain, is it not? Same as the paper in NY that is publishing an interactive map with names and addresses of permit holders?

I have a few. When can you make it up this way?

Neat trick. That must be a very sharp pocketknife. -
Shoot me your mailing address in a pm.

I placed an order with the Mako Group (quality steel AR mags at nearly normal prices). Two days later I placed another order, and my invoice number had jumped a couple thousand. The company posted a notice that they were not answering phones; all hands from CEO on down were in the warehouse boxing and shipping orders.

Ummm, more on the firefighter shooting
Mark@Sea replied to Sam1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
People that know what they are just shake their heads - that was intended for those who know nothing about guns, to make it scarier. Media agenda? Bet your hairy hindparts! -
I've tried the pocket chainsaw, don't care for it. I'd recommend a pruning saw (Bahco Laplander) or a military grade multistrand wire saw. Headlamp type flashlight, very helpful when you need to move at night. Don't skimp on this one, get the best you can afford and make sure it has a red only setting or filter A couple of candles, with a little candle lantern if you can afford the space/weight. Better than burning batteries for nighttime camp chores. Lightweight shovel - some things you're gonna want to bury, you know? Speaking of which, make sure your TP is in a freezer bag 2 sturdy needles and some thread - you don't want to wreck your paracord to stitch up a tear. I recommend the lighter grade stuff that Tandy leather sells. Incredible breaking strength. 2 needles so you can saddle stitch. Water is great to have, heavy to carry. If you're gonna be near a water source during the trip, figure on enough containers for 4 liters (in addition to your camelbak) if you are using a filter. Two filtered or treated, two untreated. Mark 'em so you know which is which. Staying on a water source long enough to filter might not be a good idea. Chemical purification takes 30-40 minutes, by the way, so don't put a few drops in, shake it up and drink it down. Using a rubberband to hold one of your bandannas over the mouth of your water bottle when doing a quick fill will keep the particulates down. Use another bandanna to wipe the threads and outside of bottle dry after filling, to prevent recontaminating, before putting the lid back on.
