  1. http://www.ableammo.com/catalog/star-viper-semi-auto-shotgun-24107-gauge-chmbr-black-synthetic-stock-black-finish-p-134540.html   These are available in 12 or 28 gauge.  Run you around $425.
  2. We already have 3 parties.  The Democratic party, the Lesser Democratic party, and the TEA party.   Some folks refer to the Lesser Democratic party as the Republican party.  Not really sure why.
  3.   I will go out of my way to avoid the Washington comPost.  Like the New York Times - I won't follow links that lead there.     It's true, though - you can get better US news from British papers than you can from US papers.

    Papoose?

http://www.marlinfirearms.com/Firearms/SelfLoading/70PSS.asp   Yes, they are still in production.  Run you maybe $300.  Get extra magazines for it.
  5. Sitting on the deck of the house in Kingsport before I bought it.  The house was empty and locked.  Clearly heard someone walk downstairs and across the living room, then heard the screen door on the deck open and shut.   Note - I was sitting on the deck and had a clear view of the living room through the picture windows - there was no one there.   Bought the house and later had some issues with furniture not wanting to stay where it was put.       Also have a Bermuda triangle story, usually have to drink a bit before I tell that one.
  6. Locusts were once considered a plague.  Now they're a political demographic.
  7. You suppose they'll have the website working by 2017?
  8. Well, between Reid and Obama they've turned down all Republican offers.  Hope the R's have the good sense not to make any more.  O'care still sucks, the website is still unusable, the only "shutdown" effects that are inconveniencing the masses are the snit fit measures ordered by Obama...     Hey Republicans in the Senate - haven't you ever heard "Never interrupt an enemy when he is making a mistake"?
  9. Right now?  Ted Cruz
  10. Maybe Cruz was more concerned about what we stand to lose.
  11. Mountain House is good stuff.  Shelf life likely equal to the lifespan of the shelf.  Actually tastes like food.  The go to website for purchase is Emergency Essentials.  They frequently have sales on certain items.   Volume purchasing gets you free shipping.    I have used probably 3 or 4 cases of varied #10 can products, haven't run into anything that wasn't first rate.  I keep meaning to get a vac sealer to repackage contents, as you can cut the price of the individual serving meals (check wally world and bass pro) used by campers/hikers by 80%.
  12. A few observations... Turkish manufactured Beretta semi-auto 12 gauge clone, 2 3/4 or 3 inch shells. 20 inch barrel with removable cylinder choke. Alloy receiver, plastic/rubber furniture. Picatinny rail screwed to receiver. Ghost ring rear (removable), rifle front with a tru-glo style plastic lightpipe. 5+1 capacity. $329 at Wally World. Thanks to the alloy and plastic furniture, it is relatively lightweight. Recoil is not unpleasant, which makes for a nice combination. Push-button safety forward end of the trigger guard. Ergonomics are good. First things first - disassemble, clean well, and lubricate properly. Really. Comes with a thin film of anti-corrosive applied, which isn't going to provide the lubrication the action needs. Particularly, lubricate the mag tube. While you've got it apart, loosen the 2 hex head screws holding the picatinny rail to the receiver, apply a little loc-tite, and re-tighten. After approx. 30 rounds with a large aperture reflex sight, I discovered the rail would rock from side to side. Tightening as described considerably simplified the zeroing process. I've so far put about 75 rounds of high brass buck through it. One malfunction; the mag tube didn't release another shell to the carrier. No idea why - it happened once and hasn't repeated. Break-in will continue as ammo availability allows. A Magpul L2 MOE rail section will fit nicely at the front of the forearm. Caveat - the rail section must be mounted so that the retainer bars are within the ribbed area (inside the forearm) at the very front end of the forearm. The rib must be removed to allow clearance for the retainer bars - not the entire rib, just enough for the bars to fit. Do NOT attempt to mount aft of the ribbed area. 2 drilled holes and 10 minutes with a (gasp) dremel and I have a very serviceable flashlight mount. Wile-E-Coyote school of gunsmithing strikes again! An 870 mag extension will fit and function, minor 'smithing required. Conclusion - 8+1 (with mag tube extension) pistol grip semi-auto suitable for HD, tacti-cool accessories easily mounted. All-up price well under $500. More expensive than a pump, true, and you lose the infamous 'racking a shell into the chamber' sound which reputedly strikes terror into the hearts of malefactors. OTOH, it isn't that much more, and my personal preference for a home intruders audio experience is a click and the voice of St. Peter. YMMV.
  13. Yeah.  Sure.  The original income tax was voluntary, limited to 5% of income at most, and affected only the rich.
  14. The spitehouse closings have crossed the line from ridiculous to obscene.  Gettysburg NMP closed, but extra rangers on duty to keep people out...  traffic cones closing pulloffs at national monuments... privately operated and funded attractions closed...  this isn't about money, or furloughed personnel.  It is a slap in the face.   What concerns me is the thought that Obama is deliberately trying to get citizens to slap back.
  15. Of course ninjas are quieter.  The SEALS were never there.
  16. Call it what it is - fascism/socialism.  And Pat is on the right track...
  17. I believe the fine will be 6.5% the third year.
  18. This memorial is normally open 24/7.  There are no gates, no gatekeepers.  So the capitol police went out of their way to set up and man barricades.   We're really due for a reminder of who works for whom in DC.
  19. By 2016 that $300 a month will be a distant, treasured memory.
  20. Anybody want to chip in to mail CNN a case of toilet paper and some clean undies?
  21. No way Reid will let a budget even get to the floor of the Senate. It would become painfully obvious that Obama's various frauds are simply not supportable. We haven't had a budget since Obama got into the white house.
  22. Here's a crazy idea - how about passing a budget, as the law requires, rather than just giving Obama a fresh checkbook?   Yeah, I know - what was I thinking?
  23. Sorry, no link, but I've read at least a couple internet accounts where the AO version had to be returned for either fail to function, or very poorly fitted wood.  The best commercial version today is from Fulton Armory.  The receiver is made by LMT to original specs (the only commercial receiver ever to do so - LMT made them for Springfield Armory about 10 or 15 years ago).
  24. The auto-ordnance is better than the universal, but doesn't meet GI specs.  Not all parts will interchange with GI.   For a couple hundred more than the AO you can get a GI carbine in decent shape at a gunshow.   This link may be helpful;  http://www.m1carbinesinc.com/carbines.html
  25. I guess she is a racist now.
