Best low cost pistol AR stripped lower currently?
wileecoyote replied to Tobashadow's topic in Handguns
Yep, I see the bolded YEP, and yep I saw it the first time too. But you quoted his whole sentence after the YEP, thus your reply appeared to be directed at the full sentence. A misquote? Yep. Or at least a misleading indirect reference. Confusing? Yep. Is it worthy of further comment? Nope. :D -

Right, but you had quoted his statement about buying a new Andersen at the gun show, thus your statement implied that this would have been illegal. I guess you quoted the wrong portion, but don't quote me on that. :p -

What? I thought the law was that any stripped lower sold as new, never built, was able to be built into either a pistol or a rifle. FFL dealers usually mark my lowers as OTHER (receiver) on the form 4473. -

I don't see why anyone would go to a plastic lower just to save $5-$15 off the cost of buying a T6 aluminum alloy mil-spec lower. The military and industry has tested the snot out of T6 lowers and they are battle proven, so why take a chance for such a small savings? Even if they were only $10 I wouldn't want one, it's just silly when you look at the cost of the rest of the parts, and the importance of reliability / safety. -

I am in middle TN and have easily found 4 different dealers which only charge $15 for a transfer, and 2 of these gave me a pretty nice discount when receiving more than one on a single transfer. All it takes is a few calls or visits to make friends, an occasional favor or referral to them, and then they treat you right. Sometimes I have even had my transfers done for free, but the average for me over the past 15 years has been around $8-$10 per gun for transfer. And this was without any real effort, so I'm sure others can obtain similar pricing if they shop around. I have purchased many, many lowers from PSA, Surplus Arms & Ammo, Aim Surplus, and numerous others. I have often purchased new unblemished lowers for $49.95, and blemished lowers at least twice for $39.95 (once from PSA and once elsewhere). Some of my most recent PSA orders (few months ago) were for 5 packs with free shipping, and even when paying shipping it is not much per unit when you buy several. I've averaged about $4-$5 shipping per lower. So the high end for me is $50 lower, $5 shipping, $10 transfer, and no more than $3 TICS since I never order just one gun on a transfer. Never any TN sales tax. That's only $68, and it can be less for blem pricing, multi-packs, free shipping, etc. Of course I'm not ordering just one lower, and I do my homework to get a friendly dealer, and I don't wait until I need one to make my purchase, I just buy a few when I see a great deal, but it hasn't been hard. Not saying the EW deal is horrible. If you want to buy just one at a local dealer and you wait until you need it, then of course you will pay more. Just saying the reality for me is $55-$65 out the door, and I have many receipts to prove it, so the EW deal is nothing special to me. And once again, I'd never buy from them due to their 22lr price gouging, but to each his own. -

If they are blem lowers then EW is probably paying $30 each and selling them at 100% markup. PSA frequently sells blem Andersens for $39 to consumers, so the dealer cost in bulk must be around $30. Even if they were not blems, you can still get them direct from PSA for $49.95 and free shipping or very low shipping, thus the actual out the door cost on a transfer is typically $65 or so, even after shipping and TICS. Thus I don't see $76 out the door as any kind of a deal. And even if it was a great deal, I wouldn't ever shop at EW after their 22lr price gouging fiascos. -
No. Gender in the traditional, literal sense refers to a person's physical anatomy, how they were born, either male or female. Psychological variants in their mental or emotional state might result in them acting homosexual, bisexual, trans-gender, or even zoophilic instead of the most common heterosexual behavior, but this doesn't change their gender. Even gender surgery doesn't fully change their gender, it just leaves them in a mutant form of their original gender. Of course the liberal and politically correct folks will argue that gender is based on your emotions, preferences, etc. and can be changed or declared at will. I prefer to stick with the physical and biblical definitions.

Maybe they want to provoke a few fights to see which of the ten results in the most missing teeth from a violent response.

I have a friend that is hooking me up. He couldn't promise a delivery date but I expect to have them within 7-10 days. Not sure if I will need 2 of them, especially since I just purchased this completed pistol with the original brace, but I'll decide that after everything arrives. Figured it was better to order 2 while I was using up a chip.

Well crap. Once again I check this forum briefly before bed, and it costs me money. I have been planning to build a pistol for a while, have 2 sig sbx braces on order, but wanted a slightly different configuration. This price is good enough to buy it anyway, tear it down, and rebuild the way I want, then sell the excess parts. But who am I kidding, I'll probably use the extra parts to build another pistol. Well, guess I need to sell something soon to keep feeding my TGO habit.

Yep, everything is working again now. Awesome! David - from what I read, all of the recent problems are caused by a missing or corrupted xml hook file, so it's possible that the hook file was damaged or corrupted during the last update, or by a server issue. Re-copying the correct file or entire set of folders to the hosted location would have fixed it. Thank you!

Yeah, I've used the mobile browser version too and it's not too bad, but it also had / has some of the same bugs. If we had to prioritize based on limited resources, I'd say tapatalk would be more important than the mobile browser version, but that's just me. I'm sure TGO David can see the stats regarding how many visitors via each interface each month, but even if tapatalk was currently lower in the stats I'd expect it to be the fastest growing segment soon to surpass mobile browser. Test edit.

I think the newer Sig SBX brace is much better looking than the butt stock above, which I think appears flimsy and cheap. It is especially absurd to show it with the sling wrapped around the arm. -
Did you see post#2? He's aware of the thread. He's made it clear before that he will keep Tapatalk available but I don't think it's a priority to the forum management. I'd say just be patient and see when he replies here.
Sorry for missing his post above. I just assumed he wasn't aware because these errors have been going on for a few weeks, and from what I read the fix is a very quick and simple update to the xml hook file on the server. I sure hope tapatalk support becomes a much higher priority moving forward. This is a virtual world and nearly everyone uses a mobile device these days, so it would seem inappropriate to de-prioritize mobile support. Thanks for any help TGO David!

I have 2 of the newer SBX braces on order. Can hardly wait for them to arrive. I don't understand why anyone that uses these would find it important to remain over 26.5" OAL. Isn't the whole point to allow legal use of a shortened AR via the pistol definition?

Attempting to send a PM to TGO David about this problem, got another error message. Will someone that is able to PM please alert TGO David to see if he can get the server fixed?
-
Three circles only, same as before.
-
I'm in for one set. I'd even consider 2 or 3 sets if the price gets any better.

More error messages, this one telling the forum admin how to fix the problem...
PM MacGyver
Been trying to do this but the forum is broken and won't allow PMs via tapatalk.

Yep, same here. Can't view profiles, can't send pms, can reply to threads but not edit posts. I posted this in detail in another thread in the support forum, no response or fixes yet.

If he gets convicted on one or a few of the initial charges and sentenced to life or worse, trying him for each of the other charges would likely do more harm than good because the trial process is terribly hard on the victims, especially with the world watching for every sordid detail. I wish this whole thing was just kept out of the media until after he is convicted, and even then no real details should be released that could harm the victims.

I'm interested, but tapatalk won't let me send pm.

Gallatin Gun Club classifer match
wileecoyote replied to rstandley's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
Well crap. I just realized that boys and I are signed up to volunteer at a church event on Saturday from 10-3. Please keep me posted on the next event which would be suitable for their intro to IDPA. I am an instructor with 7 certification ratings including pistol, rifle, shotgun, personal protection, and RSO, so I'd be happy to help run any events as needed once I know the ropes.
