Ask the ltl for lift gate service. Most offer it. Also I have picked up from Conway terminals as well. They usually have a fork truck to load you with.
Thanks, but they charge a lot more freight for lift gate delivery without a loading dock, so we need to keep the costs down.

I can't tell you TGO folks what it really is, or many of you would want in on the deal and it's already spoken for by about 40 people... Maybe I'll post the details next time we order it in bulk...

Is this a fair price for 22LR and 9mm?

If you think $43 shipped was bad for a brick of 22LR shipped, wait til you see this... http://www.surplusammo.com/22lr/ WTF? -
I'm just going to look the other way. PSA has crazy good prices on a lot of stuff but they've been riding the .22 gravy train for well over a year now. When they get it in it's minimum $50/brick and now they're bundling the CCI standard in with a bunch of other things as "specials". They're still charging $50/brick.
Well I haven't watched their prices on 22lr, in fact I didn't even realize they sold it until recently, but I can say for sure that my order outlined above was much less than $50 per brick, it was just $43 per brick and that included shipping, so if you allow $8 for shipping it was really sold for only $35 per brick which I would guess is pretty rare on the current market, especially online vendors. -
The .22 is a bit overpriced. That is standard velocity stuff and may have issues in semi-autos. Not bad given the environment we are in, but on the high side for what it is. If it were hi-velocity mini-mags then it would be ok, but not for that.
whenever I would see standard velocity stuff or subsonic rounds they were usually more expensive, such as the Remington Target green box stuff that Walmart used to sell before the craze, which I think was typically around $6-$8 per 100. I never used CCI standard velocity stuff though, so not sure how it compares. -
SD 9mm is fine, its typical buck-a-round 20/box stuff which has been about that price for a long time.
Yeah, I figured most of the good defense rounds sell for $1/round, and these are 25 round boxes so actually a better deal for less than $22 shipped. -
Palmetto State Armory is running a 10% off sale on everything, and they have some 22LR ammo in stock which they have been bundling with other products to promote cross sales. I just purchased a package they had on sale for $89.99 which included one brick (500 rounds) of 22LR CCI standard velocity and two boxes (25 rounds each) of 9mm Hornady Critical Defense FTX 115 gr hollow points. I purchased 3 of these packages altogether (the most their site would allow at the time), with shipping direct to my house. After applying the 10% off coupon code and paying the shipping, the individual ammo costs worked out as follows: CCI 22 LR: $43.66 per brick, shipped Hornady 9mm defense: $21.83 per box. shipped I did a few quick searches but didn't find this ammo in stock anywhere else, so it is hard to compare prices, and of course most local stores have none of this stuff. So I am trying to gauge if this was a good deal, average, or if I overpaid. My personal policy has been to never spend more then $40 per brick of 22LR so that was at the high end of my price range but it seemed ok since this included shipping and I am unlikely to find any in stock cheaper locally, since I don't have time to camp all the LGS or setup a tent in Walmart. And from what I can remember about the Hornady stuff it was top notch and was typically $1 per round plus tax back in the day when LGS actually had any. So if any of you have actually found and purchased this stuff in the past few months... was this a fair price?

Sure. :-) FYI - I did volunteer as a chef and organizer / host of a big cookout / party for local gun folks a few years ago. We had over 300 sign up, then 157 actually committed to show when the details were finalized, and about 75 actually showed up on the day. I took my big green egg and cooked tons of food, along with all the food others came with. We even got some local dealers to sponsor the event and donate door prizes. It was a lot of fun.
Sure, if you want to get raped. :(
Agree their retail prices are crazy, but I got all my eggs for less than $500, and I've purchased two dozen to-date for friends and family. If you ate food from one then you would even be willing to pay retail, it's just something you have to try to understand, it's as addictive as crack... :-)

The real "must have" for food smokers is a big green egg (biggreenegg.com) which will literally change your life after you eat food cooked on it. I've been egging for many years and never use my kitchen to cook, ever.

Cool, but would need one hell of a backup chute option to get me up there. As a skydiver I know first hand the many, many things that could go wrong with the main chute or weather such that you would transition from James Bond to Wile E Coyote in just seconds, and then they would need a metal detector to find your dental fillings amongst the debris.

I can put you in touch with the local boyscout troop that meets twice a month in Lebanon, they currently have a dozen boys all same age as your son. PM me for info.

Parking spot for prom night in Murfreesboro?
wileecoyote replied to wileecoyote's topic in General Chat
I appreciate all the helpful comments and concerns. I realize this a sensitive subject, especially for any parents, and most of all for any fathers with young daughters which always fear the worst and tend to be overly protective (sometimes to the point of doing more harm than good). To fairly gauge the nature of this specific situation you would need to know all of the factors including the young couple, their families, their history, and the detailed plans for the night in question. It is not appropriate to share those details in a public forum, and thus I will not do so or attempt to further the debate. I did not start this thread to get opinions on the morality of teenagers dating, "making out", or being alone after prom. This thread was only started to get a few ideas of scenic, romantic, and safe locations in the Murfreesboro area. That objective has been achieved, thus I will close this thread before it continues to spiral off into an unnecessary debate. Rest assured that both sets of parents have been consulted and have full control over the situation, and they are fully supportive of the plan that has emerged for the evening. -
Parking spot for prom night in Murfreesboro?

And you can bet that the Walmart lot is completely out, LOL... Call me old fashioned but if these kids want to be alone it will be somewhere scenic, quiet, and safe. I'll probably stand guard (well armed) about 500 yards away, doing my best to make my chauffeur outfit blend into the local terrain... I wonder if they make camo suits with mossy oak bow ties? :D -

Brief update: turns out that the girl is already 18. Spoke with both sets of parents to let them agree on ground rules. So far they prefer letting the kids have alone time in the vehicle to seeing them run off to a wild after-prom party or hotel room like many other kids do. And this young man is a true gentleman so we are sure he'll behave honorably. -
I see where you are coming from, but consider this: if you give teenagers alcohol but aren't making them drink it, are you still charged with "contributing to the delinquency of a minor" if discovered by the popo? What if she decides to claim rape? It's not a liability I'd be willing to assume. Just my :2cents:
There's a huge difference in your example. Giving minors alcohol is illegal. Driving them to and from a prom or scenic locations is not. Allowing them to sit in a parked vehicle alone is not illegal either. If allowing kids to be alone was a crime then every public place or building in the world would be a crime zone. I do appreciate the comments and concerns about liability, and the need to be cautious. It just seems like overkill to be worried about 17 year old kids parking in a scenic location for a short time after a prom. Any parent that is worried about that shouldn't be sending their kids to prom to begin with. Surely most of you dated and had some alone time when you were under 18... -
Google "Stones River Artillery monument" or McFadden farm, Van Cleave Lane (the monument is located here-- completely separate from the Battlefield park)-- that's pretty off the beaten path, but still in town, it has a gate, but is not always closed like it should be.
Thanks for the idea, I'll check it out. -
I think the point was, does he know that YOU are facilitating the alone time?
I'm not facilitating anything. I'm simply driving the vehicle. As any good limo driver, I just want to know the area pretty well so that if they ask me to take them somewhere I will know how to get there. I'm not going to approve or disprove anything, I'm not serving as a parent or guardian or chaperone, and I'm not going to be involved in their activities. If they ask me to take them somewhere scenic or private then I will do so, just as any hired taxi or limo driver would do. -
There are some places on the outskirts of town, but unless you live here directions would be rather difficult.
These are the kind of spots I'm looking for, as long as they are fairly quiet and private, preferably with some type of scenic view or mildly romantic setting. I have been to and through the area often but don't live there so never bothered to hunt down the special parking locations. Limo also has GPS so directions aren't an issue, just send me a map link or coordinates. -
Forgive my morbid curiosity, but once they park what exactly will you be doing?
Curiosity, or perversion? ;-) There will be a privacy screen in the limo, but it's a very special vehicle which I won't elaborate on. I might allow the young man to drop me off near his destination and drive it the rest of the way, which he would absolutely kill to do, but it depends on where they are going to park, what time it is, and what state they are in at the time. -
The airport! Great place to park. Or the cemetery on Greenland Dr. Nobody will bother them in the cemetery!
Airport seems like a good idea, I'll check into that. Cemetery gets high marks for quiet and dark, but low score on the romantic scale. :-) -
So I'm volunteering to serve as a limo driver for a high school senior couple before he graduates and joins the seal program in just a few months. These are good smart kids, not wild party types, but like most teens they will appreciate a chance to park somewhere and have some "alone" time. I will be driving them in the Murfreesboro area but I don't know that area too well, so I'm wondering if anyone knows of a nice quiet scenic or romantic spot where I can park them for an hour or two. I'm willing to drive them a little distance and had thought of Monteagle but their time may be limited if they get out of prom late, so that might be too far Maybe something with a stream or lake view, state park area, boat dock, etc. Any ideas?
