Looking like rain on the 10 day forecast. Something to watch as the 18th gets closer.
Good, that means it will probably be sunny by the time it actually gets here..........hopefully!

I also use The Saddle Shop. Good people to deal with.

A CZ and Savage will be comparable in accuracy, but the CZ will have a better fit and finish overall. A Savage will shoot, but it certainly isn't the prettiest gun available. A CZ with wood stock can be an heirloom gun that you pass down. It will also have a better blue job if you go with blue. I would be very comfortable with either one. The only thing I don't like about the CZ's is the way the magazine sticks down. I have both and would buy both again. I am personally more partial to fit and finish so therefore I have more CZ's than Savages.

Hard to beat a Savage or CZ for value. CZ 527 Varmint. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/34003 Savage 12 Varmint http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/52942 There are various model of both, but both will be stupid accurate out of the box.

Mine would say "what thunderstorm?"

Good story. It's amazing what our dogs will do for us. Can't imagine not ever having a dog.

For those coming from the north and that want to meet and ride together from Franklin, lets plan to meet at I-65 at Exit 61 (Peytonsville Rd). This is a good starting point to take some back roads down to the cafe. There is a truck stop on the east side of the interstate that has plenty of room for us to easily find each other. We will leave at 10:00 sharp just so we aren't in a hurry.

She's a good looking pup. Once you have your mind set on it I know it is hard to change. I wouldn't tell you not to get her, just be very aware of what she will need in order to not drive you nuts with puppy antics. Best advice I can give is "a tired puppy is a well behaved puppy!" I will echo Peejman. A friend of mine has a GSH who is an unbelievable hunting dog, but he is almost impossible to wear out. I don't think I have ever seen a dog that will go 100% , 100% of the time like him.

Wait for 14 months until you have a yard would be my first suggestion. They will be very energetic and even though you may take it hunting, it needs lots of daily exercise/stimulation. I suppose if you are going to take it to a park or something every day that may be ok, but if you don't, plan on her making her own entertainment with whatever she can find. The costs long term are moderate, but well worth it. Short term shoudln't be too bad outside of a good crate, shots, and some things like collars, beds, etc. Good food is expensive and good vet care isn't cheap, even at a "value" vet. It will be an active dog and hunting dogs will get hurt and require care. I would highly recommend insurance for anyone with a new puppy. In the long run I believe it will save you money. If you were going to have a dog that never did anything, it may not be a big issue, but I can tell you from experience that fixing torn ACL's and extended stays at the vet because they ate something they shouldn't have aren't cheap. I don't want to sound degrading, but if you ask the question about costs because you are on a limited budget right now, it probably isn't the time to get a dog. The initial cost may not be bad, but as soon as one injury or sickness comes up, it will be expensive and I hate to see you not be able to do what is needed if money is potentially an issue. Edit: I guess I didn't put a number. I would say expect $400-$500 for initial costs (including spaying at 6 mo), and then $50/month for good food. I would plan on a yearly vet bill of $500-$700. It may not always be that much, but one issue can cost you $200-$300 a pop.

Is this a fair price for 22LR and 9mm?
Hozzie replied to wileecoyote's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I would say that is about exactly fair. No steal, but certainly not high. -
I definitely prefer the scenic route. We won't be in a hurry. My new bike has GPS so even if we get lost we should be able to get there. :-)

Going to Bell Buckle Cafe is ok for me. How about we meet at the cafe at noon sharp just so we have time to eat without rushing and then we'll end up in Lynchburg around 2:00. That gives us time to meet up there for a while and then time to be back home at a decent time. I will plan on leaving Franklin at 10:00 or so. For those coming from the north, we can meetup somewhere easy and ride down together if you want.

Well, let's plan on the 18th since it seems that the day preference is even and MaroonandWhite was the only one who responded with a specific day. It looks like we have some interested between Clarksville and Chattanooga, so what about we try to meet in Lynchburg? That is just an option, but it will probably be a nice ride for all to that point. Everyone can leave at whatever time they need to meet at say 1:00? Earlier is ok for me too, so whatever the group wants to do. If that works for everyone, we can figure out where to meet locally for our respective starting points. If the weather doesn't look like it's going to cooperate then we can maybe try for Saturday or a later time. I am a fair weather rider so if there is a big chance of rain, I will probably wait for a better day.

I have a buddy that has one. It is good, but I wasn't so impressed that I had to run out and buy one. Money wasn't the issue, I just didn't find that I liked the food off of it any better than the food off of my weber grill. I know that is blasphemy for the green egg owners.

How about we plan something for the 17th or 18th of May? Or we could look out into June to give anyone who needs more time to plan plenty of time. I don't need much notice, but I know it is easier for some if we do plan it out further. I will probably do some riding this Sunday if anyone else wants to do some local riding.

I added a poll so we can figure out the best day for the majority. Saturday or Sunday is ok for me.

I put Heli's, a Sargent seat, and lower pegs on the one I bought and it did help, but not to where I didn't have to get off and walk around after an hour or so. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The VFR is a nice bike. That was what I had previously, but I am a big guy and it just didn't fit me well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I bit the bullet and went with a Street Glide Special in Charcoal Pearl.

Hi Everyone, I posted this in the Motorcycle Group but thought there may be some who aren't a part of it who may be interested and it didn't show up in any of the normal forum sections (that I could see). In the last couple of months, I have got back into riding and just recently bought a new bike. Actually I bought one on here which was a great bike, but just a bit too sporty for me, so I sold it and bought something a little more relaxed. Anyway, I am thinking that it would be good to try and plan a TGO ride at some point. Nothing extravagant, just a day to meet up somewhere and ride some of the local roads, grab some lunch, and just get to know a few more people. I am in Franklin, so I am thinking about something in Middle TN, but of course those in some of the other areas could plan something as well. Heck, even if there are some from different areas who are say a couple of hours apart, we could plan to meet in the middle somewhere as a group. If anyone is interested, post here and we'll see what we can setup. Now that I have my new bike I am ready to go out and enjoy it. Ride safe.

I use the AMNPS with great results. Just make sure to get it started good and let it burn for 10 minutes before blowing out the flame and putting it in the smoker and it will do just fine. I use a propane torch to get it good and hot to start and have never had a problem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sorry for you loss. Many of us know how hard it is to lose one of our best friends. Remember the good times.

We can say what we want, but he's right. If this guy used a gun, there probably would have been fatalities. That's why I don't like the pro-gun side using the argument that they will just go to knives. It doesn't equate. yes, there is the possibility to kill with a knife, we all know that, but the potential for fatalities in such a situation like this is much higher with a gun, like it or not. I don't believe in gun control, but I also accept the fact that it means there is the potential some lives will be lost to crazy people. There will never be a utopia, so everyone can't have it all ways.

Yep, mine looks excellent for the price. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
