I would also like a good 9mm host for my 9mm suppressor and this would be a good option. I have been considering a 9mm AR, but I like me some Sig, so if they ever get these out, I will probably be in line.

Gun or no gun in the car, no, you don't have to notify. I didn't notify when I was pulled over recently and I won't if I am again. The officer that pulled me over never said a word. I think you find the only ones that have an issue are the one's with the biggest ego's. I am certainly not saying don't tell them if you want to, but I don't see the need.

I can tell you for a fact that he is right in the strict sense of how it works. When you called dispatch and they gave you that info, you probably weren't aware that two different queries were taking place (or probably even more at that time). I will break it down a bit more if it would help. When a tag is run, a QT request is sent to an interface server of the Dispatch provider (the 911 software used by any given agency). That dispatch provider uses a standard interface which has different queries available such as Query Tag, Query Person, Criminal History, etc to MULTIPLE systems. This is typically a state database, federal database (NCIC), and sometimes local warrants databases and even records management systems. When the tag response comes back, the system is able to scrape the Registered Owner information from the response. It then uses this information to immediately send back a QP on the registered owner. It is not all one query. It used to be that the NCIC responses came back in plain text, but today they can come back in other formats, usually XML. Using XSL, we then display the response to the users. Sometimes this is formatted on one response and sometimes the QT and QP responses are separate. It just depends on the agency. Again, from a practical perspective, yes, most places get both responses automatically and it appears they are one query. From a purely technical perspective, they are not. If the system is not setup to run the registered owner automatically after the tag response comes back, it will not have the HCP information. I have been working on these system for the last 8 years around the world and have a better than average knowledge of how they work. I don't argue that you got the info 30 years ago from the dispatcher, but I am confident it wasn't all one report. NCIC didn't even start having the ability to piggyback queries until around 2007-2008.. If you are talking a criminal history report, that is something different. Nowdays, you can't just run a criminal history on someone without a good reason. Most officers cannot run a criminal history without approval and if they do, they are in some deep crap. In the end, it is semantics, but technically he is correct. -

Technically, he is correct. A plate check and a person check are technically two different queries at the the system level. As I mentioned before, most systems now run the plate, receive the registered owner in the response, and then the system will automatically run the person check on the registered owner as a secondary operation. So technically, just running a plate doesn't show if someone has a HCP. In reality, the two happen in tandem so the end result is running a plate does also lead to knowing if the registered owner has a HCP. The reports may or may not be combined into a single report depending on the system. -

True, but most systems now automatically run the registered owner when running the plate. If the registered owner has a permit, it will show as you mention. I have setup systems around the country including THP and almost all of them are setup to run both automatically. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I'm pretty sure you have to wait for them to receive it. Call Robert and G&L and ask. He will tell you for sure. -
Or you are like me and don't want strangers to have your personal info. If my hcp isn't good enough, you can keep your gun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Agreed. For now, we can get by with aftermarket head pipes to get rid of the catalytic converer which creates so much heat and tune them to run richer and cooler. Once we have to start passing emissions on a yearly basis, then it will really be an issue. Or we will just put the stock header and pipes back on for the trip to emissions and then swap them back. It would be a pain, but a lot would do it.

That's possible I suppose. Worst case, you could always cancel your paper copy and efile if it came back online at a time that made sense. Glad I got in while the gettin' was good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
That was the point I was trying to make (and obviously didn't). I believe the Harley culture is changing significantly. It isn't just a bunch of rough and tumble bikers anymore. It's professionals, doctors, lawyers, and just the normal guy next door. Yes, the hardcore guys still exist, but these aren't the guys Harley is targeting. Price will dictate a lot, but I see a lot of young adults under 30 which this may appeal to.

I have done 3 through G&L. Robert is great to work with. If you decide to get one, I would wait until the e-file is back up, even if it takes a few more months. You will still be 6 months ahead vs. if you paper file for it. -
Having just bought a new Harley (my first) a couple of months ago I looked at a lot of different bikes. I personally think this has the potential to do just fine and in fact I like the looks of it. Like me, there are plenty of people out there who aren't what I could consider "hardcore" Harley people or even hard core bikers for that matter, but there is something still, even to this day about owning a Harley. Some could care less, and that's ok, but having had other bikes before this, I have to say I have a bigger sense of pride riding this bike than I did the others. Maybe it is vanity, I won't say it isn't, but it has been different. There are some who love a motorcycle for just that, any two wheels that they can get on and ride. I am somewhere in between. I like to ride, but I wouldn't call it a passion. It is a hobby. Does that make me less of a "Biker" or Harley guy, maybe, but what it shows is that there are those of us with disposable income willing to buy something we like, not that we have to have. I suspect there will be some who maybe don't feel comfortable with the larger Harley bikes and want something a bit more modern and I think this fits that bill. I don't think any hardcore biker, no matter the brand, is clamoring for an electric bike. But, the guy who wants something different to ride around on or to and from work, I think it looks pretty cool. Only time will tell, but if Honda had come out with this, I think there would be many calling them the leader in the market.

Supreme Court Decision Yesterday!

I don't have the grill, but I use an AMNPS (Pellet tray) for use in my electric smoker. It works great. If I was going to spend the money on a Traeger or something like that, I would probably just get a Big Green Egg. I am too lazy for either, so I just use my Weber propane grill and smoke in the MEC30 when I want to really smoke something.

I don't think it had anything to do with that. The thread in question was related to their pricing of 22 ammo. At the end of the day, I have been there and they have always been pretty decent. I didn't buy any 22 because it was too high, but they seem to have a small, but decent selection of guns at the store on Moore's lane. As with most things TGO, if a company does one thing someone here doesn't like, the whole company must be crap. I have no affiliation with them and to be honest could care less how they run their business. They will either make it or they won't, but from the few times I have been there, it seemed like most other gun stores. Some things were high and some were decent. It just depends what you need that day.

I saw him speak on this. The reason he voted No wasn't because he didn't want to help the Veterans, the reason he voted no was because there was no budgetary estimate and long term cost associated with it. He wanted them to figure out how they were going to pay for it. I agree with him. I am by no means against helping veterans, but as with any new law, we should be looking very carefully at how this is all going to get paid for. Simply because this is a veterans issues shouldn't give it a free pass.

Also be prepared for them to tell you it must go overnight which means it will be expensive.

I couldn't have passed up the Sig 716 for that. Glad I wasn't there either. Edit: I called my local WM and they didn't have the Sig on sale. Had they had it for that price I would have had to take a quick trip.

I suspected it may be one of the D series. As with most things, there are different levels of quality in the various series of mowers. I see this somewhat frequently from some (not directed at you, but a general statement) that buy a John Deere at Lowe's or Home Depot (or even at the JD dealer) and don't realize that it is not what I would consider to be a "real" John Deere. The D series you find at Home Depot and Lowes are simply the cheap versions built to meet a price point. This is ok as long as people understand what they are buying. The frames, engines, decks, hydraulics, tires, and just about everything else on them are selected solely for the purpose to meet a price point. With that decision comes many side affects which are mainly a less reliable and shorter life mower. I understand that everyone can't or just doesn't want to spend the money on a true John Deere. This isn't even limited to John Deere. Look at most high quality mowers, Exmark, Scag, etc, and you can pretty quickly see that what you get for $1000 is not even close to what you get for $8000. That's ok, I understand that everyone doesn't want/need an $8000 mower. However you can buy a used "real" John Deere for much less than this and it will last you forever with proper maintenance. The issue is when people buy a "John Deere" whether it is one at HD or Lowes, they think they are buying the same quality as a higher end John Deere. That just isn't the case. It's comparing apples to oranges. So to say you wouldn't buy another John Deere based on this isn't really a good comparison. It stinks that you are having issues and even worse that this dealer appears to take advantage of the situation.
