Primitive Season Instead of Muzzleloader Season
Hozzie replied to 300winmag's topic in Hunting and Fishing
I wouldn't be for or against it, but I think there are too many "you can use this, but not that" regulations already. There are plenty of options to use different weapons at different times as it is. If anything, just make a longer overall rifle/muzzleloader/handgun season and keep the bow season and make it simple for anyone to understand. -
I am still waiting on all of my leaves to drop. Most of my yard is Bermuda so it is already brown, but I need to trim up the few areas of fescue.

I woke up and looked over to see it was 6:00. Crap! Got to stand and hour and a half late. Sat here 10 min and here comes a young 7pointer chasing a doe. It makes no sense but I'll take it. I let him go. Now hopefully his older uncle comes by.

We are 100% in agreement.

I will certainly not blame the officer, but I also had to ask myself, why was he not in more control of his vehicle. I have no problem with them chasing someone and in this case, I would hate to see anyone get killed because a person driving drunk, but it seems to me it may not have been necessary to push things to such a limit. It was 3:00AM and I suspect very few people on the road. I think they had time to deal with the situation without putting themselves in quite as much danger. It's easy to second guess and I feel for his family, but I do believe he belies some responsibility. That doesn't mean I don't think they should charge her. She certainly needs to face the punishment.

Well, I went and shot the new Mathews NoCam today. Man is it nice. Now just to decide if I really want to spend that much. I am a sucker for shiny new things.

I actually don't think that is a good analogy to be honest, it only refers to one side. For me, it is more like there is a dog in between two people. The first person pulls out some chicken and the dog starts to run towards that person. The other person then pulls out steak and the dog turns around and runs towards the steak before he gets the chicken. This goes on and on back and forth as each person keeps pulling out more food. In the end neither one gets the dog to come to them and both are pissed because they think the dog should like chicken or steak more than the other. What they should have done was both go towards each other and give the dog some steak and some chicken and everyone can be happy. Instead, no one is happy, including the dog. I am not sure this is much better than yours, but I simply made it to point out that there are two sides. You can believe there are plenty of people who have more reason to not be happy about the results than you today if they really believe in the liberal way. In the end, I wish more people would focus less on what they perceive as negatives and focus more on the positives. Many don't want to do that because then they can't hear themselves bitch.

Man, you all kill me. Even when we win we lose is it? I love to listen to the ideological "they are rino's" or "it doesn't matter" talk. If the only way for you to be happy is if the entire Senate and House go far right conservative, you are not only delusional, you are in for a long life of whining and crying, and to be frank, I am tired of the whining and crying. Everyone sounds like a Debby Downer. We all know it isn't perfect and isn't going to be perfect. Why not just be glad that progress what made towards the ideology you want even if it isn't perfect. There is just too much negativity around everything around here these days and it's a shame as it use to be a pretty enjoyable place most of the time.

They interviewed they guy on Channel 4 news at 5 or 6. It as actually just dumb luck that there was a gun in the home according to him. For some reason his son brought the gun home with him. It didn't go into much about why, but he basically said that he remembered his son brought the gun home so he went and got it. He said he was simply worried about the bad guys gun, so he shot at his hand. He said he hit the gun and his hand and obviously a shot to the body that did the job. He specifically made the statement that this is not something to celebrate. He seemed like a nice guy, but it sounds like many other days of the week, this may have not turned out the same way.

The Archers Den in Franklin has been good to me. I tried out the Hoyt Nitrum 30 last week and am eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new Mathew's and Mission bow's tomorrow so I can make my choice. They don't have a lot of used one's though. I have found them to be very good and patient answering my questions. As always, I will end up spending more than I planned, but I figure if this bow lasts me 15 years like my last one, then it is money well spent. For shear value, the Mission bows are excellent. They are made by Mathews. I would have liked to try some Elite's, High Country, and Bowtech's, but there just isn't much dealer support around here for them which is a shame. There is one guy in Hermitage that carry's Elite's, but he just works out of his house. I am always afraid that when I need support in a year or so that they will no longer be there. As the Archer's Den is a mile from my house and has a solid background in the business, I decided to just buy what I like the best from them so I know I have easy access to local support.

Why Are 22 Suppressors So Expensive?
Hozzie replied to lshel's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I have the Huntertown 22 with SS baffles. Got it from Guns and Leather. It does a great job. I also have their 9mm suppressor that works well. I like that I can buy the threaded adaptors in different thread patterns so I can use it on both 1/2x28 and 5/8x24 threads. I then have a SWR Specwar 7.62 for the big stuff. I will agree that the Stainless Sparrow is the best looking 22 suppressor, but I don't think there is $250 difference between it and my Huntertown SS. -
For the money, you can't beat Rada a knives. They are my everyday cut and chop knives. For steak knives, I love my Cutco's. I have had them 16 years hey are still sharp as ever.. Expensive, but worth the money in my opinion.

I would guess that the intention is for places where you will be staying while in that state. For me, I have one set for my parents house in KY, but I don't think if I was to be shooting on a friends property 20 miles away from there that they would bother you. I suppose they could, but I can't imagine they can be that literal with it. I expect it will have to do with where it is "stored" overnight. I have no idea really, but this is my general feeling on the issue. I am not going to call the NFA and ask so that it could possibly be noted on a file somewhere. Sometimes, just play stupid. I am pretty good at that.

With a small change, this /\ /\ could also be said. I bet you aren't in agreement with that. Common sense is not the same as common belief. Common sense to me says let the person it affects make the decision, not some bureaucrat. If you sincerely believe that the goal of this is not to try and attempt to make laws so stringent that it becomes a de facto abortion ban then I think we certainly have different views of what is common sense in this matter. I suspect those on both sides will just have to agree to disagree.

If they don't do things like this all of the time, I say let it go. Maybe they are renting it and are trying to get done whatever they can before they have to turn it back in. That may not be the reason, but if there isn't a pattern, I wouldn't get too worked up about it. I suppose how close you are to each other can make a difference. I won't typically mow my grass before it is dry, but if I need to because I am leaving or something, I have been known to do it early in the morning. It's rare, but it happens.

Thanks guys. It was a lot of fun.

After some input in another thread, I did a few things to my old bow and decided to get out and try a little turkey hunting this morning. My buddies farm has turkey's everywhere most of the time so with a little patience, you can almost always expect to get a shot. Just sat in a small popup blind and put out a decoy. Saw 4 come down from roost and another 15 walk from a lower field about 70 yards away. It was kind of neat to watch some of the 15 fly up in the trees and walk around. The shot below is from my Iphone through my binoculars. A bit hard to see, but pretty cool. A group of 4 came back around and I was able to get a shot at 11-12yds out, so another successful day. Not a huge one, but should be good eating. Now to brine overnight and get the smoker ready. Now on to looking for the big boy deer!

Just go to a store and buy one. By the time you pay $20-$30 to transfer it and $17 to ship it, you are probably not going to save any money on a $200 gun. I am a big proponent of online buying, but for little to no difference, I would just buy it near you somewhere.

I go to Flowers as well. I thought C&F was way high and i can't imagine any better deer sticks that I got from Flowers. This year I will give mine to Hunters for the hungry. I just don't eat enough deer to make it worthwhile and there are others who could use the meat.

You need to become a vendor. Can't just join and start advertising although we are always up for a good new range.
