So I have been intrigued by qaudcopter's for a little while now and decided last week that I was going to get one just to play with and have some fun. I have no experience with flying RC anything so my sensibility kicked in and after some research, I decided to order a fairly cheap quad to learn and play with. My usual route is to go big or go home, but as it turns out, I am pretty impressed with this thing even though the whole setup was pretty cheap. I will go into total cost in a bit. After some research I decided that I wanted something that was a decent size that I knew could eventually carry a small camera. There are a lot of beginner quad's out there for dirt cheap, $25-$35, but they were all smaller than what I was wanting. I wanted something that I could fly outside, even in a light wind. I spent a little more ($66) and bought a WL Toys V262. It is about 2' in diameter and comes with a removable foam casing that can be removed once you learn how to fly it better. As you will see in my video, mine still has it on (and will for a while longer). While youtubing reviews, etc, I noticed a lot of people do some modifications to help it perform better and help the motors last longer. I spend about another $30 on some bearings, two extra batteries, and 4 extra motors for later use. These motors will last about 30 flights so having some spares was highly recommended. For less than $100, I had everything I needed to start having some fun and knew I had the things I needed for some basic maintenance. While waiting for the quad to arrive and in watching more videos, I came across many people using this small camera called the Mobius. It is a 1080P camera that will record in 30FPS and 60fps at 720P. The great part about it, it only cost $70. I had expected to eventually get a GoPro to use with this (I had one and sent it back, but for this I think it is perfect), but decided that since I don't know how to fly, it was probably best to go with a cheaper option (for when I crash and burn) and this Mobius camera seemed to get great reviews. So 3 days later, I have everything and decide to start playing. I was amazed at just how well this little quad performed. Even more impressive is the camera. Keep in mind it is simply velcroed to the top of the quad in this video. There is some vibration, but not as bad as I would have expected. The video below is at my friends new house he is building. As you will see, we both stink at flying, but I think for $180 total (I already had the sd card), this is pretty impressive. I had it up to about 200-250ft at one point in my inaugural flight only to get it stuck in a tree (250 yards from where I was) from too much wind and not being able to fly it back to me, but in this video, we keep it a lot lower and it goes pretty good. I know there have been a few discussion on here about qauds/drones and thought this may be of interest to some others. It is really fun. Now to just get more flight time before I spend the money on a much better quad. This is what I bought. http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/9269803716/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GT2B4R6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0072AEHIC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NFEY7Y8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNRdTH-wu8U

I did a quick search and didn't see this anywhere, but thought it was pretty cool. I may even have to think about getting a 45LC to try this. For those that have one, it seems like a great way to practice without having to use up a bunch of powder. For those that are tired of the "easy" Carpenter Bee hunting with Walnut Media, this is for you. Let's see who is really a shooter :pleased: . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h27qVNUvaNk

Any of you sold a house to a person with a VA loan?
Hozzie replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
I haven't sold to anyone getting a VA loan, but in general, when the government is involved, it has a much higher probability of going sideways. I suppose it depends on how much more the offer is and if you think it is worth it. In my experience (family has a lot of real estate investments), dealing with investment bankers is much easier. That doesn't guarantee anything either, but I think since it isn't a specific person buying it, unless there is a major issue, you probably won't have any lengthy delays. The VA loan could go perfect. I would guess it could take 8 weeks longer to close though. -
Certainly could be. I wasn't sure of his price range. Didn't read every post. Was just going on areas with good access to Lewisburg.

I have a Kidd Supergrade and have never had an issue with mini mags. I don't shoot them a lot as it shoots SK Pistol Match the best, but I don't recall any comments about not shooting them. It does have a tighter chamber though.

College grove is also somwhere to consider , but it is also 25 minutes from anywhere. There are some nice houses northeast of Columbia that are also pretty nice and convenient to spring hill. Will also be a bit cheaper, but it is Maury county if you decide to have kids before moving. Also consider looking on 431 south of Franklin in the Thompson Station area.

There aren't enough beers in Nashville :D Glad you like it though.
-
Why not send it back to S&W?
-
It will be very light between spring hill and Lewisburg. No issues with traffic at all. Lots of back ways to get there as well.

Wow, that is great news, but surprising as hell.

2015 Spring Turkey Hunting thread - Post your season updates here!
Hozzie replied to whiskey's topic in Hunting and Fishing
I have Avian-x Jake and hen decoys as well. They are very nice. Had 4 Tom's go after the Jake hard last year. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to make it out this year. -
Exmark or Kubota Diesel, but both will be expensive. I think the Bad Boy mowers a like anything else. If you buy the cheaper versions (i.e. TSC), you don't get as good of quality as you do if you buy one of their higher end models. My dad has one that has been a pretty good machine overall. For me, it is no different than John Deere. Buy from Home Depot or Lowes and you get crap. One of the biggest things to look for is to make sure that each wheel has it's own hydro. Some don't.

As much as I think Bloomberg is a douche and don't agree with his viewpoint, I can't back the idea that a husband would give his wife an ultimatum based on not agreeing on guns. I suspect anyone that into guns probably knew when they got married a general idea on their partners viewpoint on the matter, whether it be full on anti, indifferent, or pro. People can also change their mind. I would speculate any deadline is just an excuse to cover up a bigger issue in the relationship. It's a partnership, not a dictatorship. If you think what he is doing is ok, we will have to agree to disagree. There are bigger things in life than guns. If he believes in the constitution so much, he should also believe in his wife's right to express her opinion on the matter, even if they disagree.

Works for me. I will watch for it.

Just wanted to say it was nice to meet everyone who attended. Hopefully we can do it again in a few months.

Headed out now

Hope to see everyone in the morning. I have sent a PM with my phone number to those who have said they plan to go in case you need to reach me for some reason. Otherwise, see everyone at 10:00.

I think this is my dog's take. And this is my favorite.

Easiest thing to do there is just use the link in Google Maps. I made a slight change to the route, and re-imported the GPX into Google Maps. Use this link for the updated Route. I ran out of waypoints on google so it stops in Woodbury, but I will just come back through Murfreesboro and then on to Franklin on my way home. https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zN9JfX1UMxpY.kmefI4T52zIw

Defense to Prosecution bill
Hozzie replied to Capbyrd's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
The Feds don't recognize the pot laws either. I bet they would make you an example with an nfa item. I hope it's someone with stupid money who can test it. -
Google shows the route to take about 90 minutes for us to get to Carthage. I suspect it may take a little less than that. I would guess we will be there somewhere between 11:15 and 11:30. We could meet you anywhere in Carthage convenient along the route. If anyone wants the GPX file for the route, just PM me with your email and I will send it to you.

No, a long gun can be purchased and processed out of state. A handgun has to be processed in the home state of the buyer. I buy guns at Whittaker's in KY all of the time. Long guns are ok, handguns are not. I suppose the only caveat could be that the dealer isn't "selling" it, but rather just doing a transfer. I think either way it is ok, but maybe call an FFL close to you and ask if they would do it.

Yes, basically just off the exit of I/40 and Stewarts Ferry. My map shows a start at the parking lot by the damn. I realized that after posting, but figure it is just as easy to start at Mapco so if anyone needs to fill up before hand or use the restroom, they can.

I am going to the conference on Friday to check it out. I have a feeling that I would find it a waste of a very nice day on Saturday with the weather looking as nice as it is.
