Franchis' are made by Beretta. They are pretty decent. If I wanted to save a few bucks, I would not be afraid to buy a Franchi. That being said, I prefer Beneli's personally.

Ya'll ain't gonna believe this!!!!! Ammo sale........
Hozzie replied to gregintenn's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
For the money, it's hard ammo to beat. I just wish they had something I could use. -
As long as it is a two way street, I agree. What's funny about this board is it seems everyone thinks they are the victim. Those who are religious think those who are not aren't respecting their religious beliefs and those who aren't religious feel like they also aren't respected for their choice to not believe. It isn't just about religion. The same can be said about the political threads. In the end, people just need to learn when to stop and simply say, let's agree to disagree and move on. It's actually pretty simple.

Integrally Suppressed Pistol
Hozzie replied to Lumber_Jack's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I saw that earlier as well. Looks hideous to me, but to each is own as they say. -
I would like to see one specific example of anyone on this board telling YOU to keep your mouth/computer fingers shut. I bet good money you can't find one. Removed. I will try to not perpetuate the discussion. :hat:

I was on my way to office when the first plane hit. When I got to the office, the 2nd plane had just hit. The interesting part is that the company I worked for provided Emergency Notification systems to many of the places hit. We actually had two customers from the Pentagon in our office that morning and without saying much, I can tell you they knew within two hours who was behind it all. It was a crazy day/weeks for us in the aftermath. I was just in NYC the week before and had eaten lunch in WTC 1. For anyone that hadn't been there I think it is really hard to truly understand how incredible it was that both of those towers came down and there was as little damage to neighboring buildings as there was. It's a site we will certainly never forget.

I am looking forward to getting home Saturday and playing with mine. Glad to hear you like it.

I agree with you on most points other than this. They don't make or even use better hardware, they simply integrate their OS with it more efficiently. This is also by locking down much more what people can do and you usually have less flexibility overall. I am ok with that if it works for you, I recently built a Video editing PC for half the cost of a comparable MacPro and have much more processing power and overall encoding capabilities. If you don't want to build a PC, Mac's are certainly more plug and play, but you pay dearly for it on the high end machines.

I don't use Itunes, Netflix, or Hulu hardly at all right now. I like my current DVR as I can get all of my HBO and Starz Movies on demand. I will probably always still have a cable plan so it may not be for me.

I was one of those guys who used an Iphone up until the last time I upgraded (a year ago) and thought "unh, I will give Android a try for something different". Worst mistake I ever made. I hate it. I will also be ordering a 6S as soon as I hit US soil on Saturday. I don't care what it costs I hate Android so bad. It has been a hard 6 months not just getting a 6, but I stuck it out (which is very unlike me). I will have to check out the Apple TV's. Can't say i know much about them or have looked at them before, but I hear a lot of people who really like them.

Anyone have an SWR SpecWar 7.62
Hozzie replied to Hozzie's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Awesome, thank you very much. -
I am out of the country for a couple of weeks and was looking at HMMS covers online for my suppressor and they want actual dimensions when I order. Does anyone have a Specwar that they could verify against what the factory specs say? They say 9" long, 1.5 Wide. I just don't want to be too far off. Thanks, Jamie

Can you define decent? Spotting scopes have a huge difference in price for quality. Also, at what ranges and caliber will you want to use it? Budget is basically the deciding factor, so if we have an idea of that, I can give some better suggestions.

Man's best friend, asset or liability?
Hozzie replied to Rhodewarrior's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Doesn't matter for me. My dog will be with me regardless of the situation. -
I would just rewire it to a 7 pin connector and forget the adaptor. Use can use a battery to test which connections are lights and work out which one is the brake and it should be pretty easy to rewire a new connector as long as you know how your truck is wired. For me, it is worth the time to just do it right and not worry about it each time I hook it up to wonder if it is going to work.

If anyone has a need for a higher end range finder, Cabelas has some "Used Certified" Leica 1600b's on sale with another 10% and free shipping available right now. Normal price is $799. I just ordered one to my door for $585. These were units that were sent to Cabelas with damaged boxes and apparently Leica repackaged them and sent them back, but they can't be sold as 'new". They have never been used and come with full warranty. These are very nice rangefinders for the money. They support ballistic calculations, etc. Just wanted to pass it along if you need a longer range capable finder like I did. Use code 5TENOFF for 10% off and free shipping. http://www.cabelas.com/product/shooting/optics/rangefinders%7C/pc/104792580/c/104752080/sc/104525280/leica-1600-b-certified-used-rangefinder/1999279.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Frangefinders%2F_%2FN-1100253%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104525280

I think it is purely people who have not or did not grow up on the water. My parents had a fairly large houseboat and it was amazing the people that would try to park on the gas dock while we would be coming in for gas. Luckily, the dock hands always had pretty good control of the situation and made people move, but even the seasoned boaters didn't seem to get it most of the time. They always got mad when we hollered at them to get the heck out of the way in a not so polite way. We didn't typically have time to be nice about it. Parking an 80' boat in the wind doesn't leave you much room for error. The other pet peeve was Fishermen who thought they could fish 5ft off the back of your boat in the docks. It was always fun to start the engines and hammer it forward and blow them backwards. I have seen some friends damn near swamp some small runabouts because they wouldn't stop making a wake around a bunch of boats tied up. You get three or 4 big cruisers pissed, i hope you have a decent size boat because they can make some very large waves.

I have a few WFT's, but the Giraud does look pretty nice.

That's funny.

If the crack isn't all buggered up, it can probably be glued. Find a good woodworker if you aren't comfortable doing it. You may not be able to save it, but it would be worth a try. If it is past all hope, check Numerich.

I don't know if anyone else is like me, but I have a few guns that have very long barrels (26"-30") and I didn't really have a good case that they would fit in well. I saw these on sale at Midway for $75 and I just received mine today. I am very impressed with it. If you need a case for a long barreled rifle, I would highly recommend it. It has plenty of room and there is a divider inside where you could take two guns if you wanted. Not really what I will do, but I like that I can put my spotting scope, bipod, and some other items in it if I want/need to. Just wanted to pass along what I thought was a good product at a good price. I got the 56" version. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/939171584/midwayusa-sniper-drag-bag-tactical-rifle-case?cm_vc=ProductFinding

I'm in. I will be out of the country and the time zone is 7 hours ahead so I will just have to let mine autodraft. That's no problem for me. It will probably do better than I would anyway.

I may be able to get someone as well if we need it.

Very Nice. I have to say, I have always been intrigued by some of the Weatherby's, but never bought one. And yep, put a light coat of RIG on it and put it in the sock. A trick taught to me by a friend is to use a shaving brush to get it into all of the little cracks, trigger guard, etc. Take it out once a year and give it another light coat and you will be good. I have actually let mine go probably closer to 2 years at times with no issues. My safe is also in a climate controlled area with a hydroabsorbant dehumidifier in it, so it really doesn't get a lot of chance to get moisture anyway.

This. My dog has a scar from following my friends dog through a fence.
