  1. I have a small table top cabinet that has worked great with glass beads. You need to hook it up to a vacuum of some sort or you end up not being able to see anything. I would think soda may work ok, but I think you may lose a lot to the vacuum being it is so fine.
  2. Wish I was back in town. I would attend.
  3.   I agree.  My brother and I just bought my dad a crossbow.  He is 71 and while still in good health, he just can't hold a bow back that easy anymore.  In those cases, I am all for it.  I am not quite there.....yet.  ;)
  4. Picked her up this afternoon! Didn't have a chance to do some good photo's yet, but even the bad one's make it look pretty decent. I have to admit, it is even better than I expected. The stock is incredible in person. I think I need medium instead of high rings, but I'll see how it goes. Now to just get out and shoot it. The build specs are: Action: Stiller Precision 2500x RBLP Barrel: Shilen Ratchet .900 Stock: Lidgard in Paduak Trigger: Flavio Fare' Tuner: Harrell Scope: Sightron SIII 10-50x60mm Gunsmith: Richard Gorham Action Bedding: Tom Meredith Rest: Arnold Machine Killough Shooting Sports is where I bought all of the components and they did the ammo testing.
  5. Seems pretty simple to me. If you don't want someone to leave you feedback because you are afraid it will make you a target, simply ask them not to. I like the feedback personally. I have given things away for free and the people left me feedback. It doesn't mean I was selling guns necessarily.
  6. Sending you a PM.  I will help you check some things.
  7. I just saw an article on that yesterday as well.  Interesting concept for sure.  Probably not something I would buy, but kind of neat none the less.  I still can't bring myself to get a crossbow as I think of it as cheating in a way.   I hunt for the sport and challenge, not the meat, so I understand each persons needs varies.
  8. You would be correct :)
  9. This is a perfect example where Quickloads can help you. You can check different bullets and different powders without loading anything first. It will at least let you know if a load is most likely safe. Based on base data for 308, the 43.5gr of IMR 4895 with 168gr bullet at 2.80 OAL is about 52,000 psi. Well below the 62,000 psi max. If OAL is smaller, pressures will go up of course. Knowing the case capacity in H2O is also important as this can change things quite a bit.
  10. I will post all specs and who did the work as soon as I get the gun. One post with all info. I'm a bit lazy :)
  11. Millions would disagree with you. She has one of the most amazing voices ever. If anyone hasn't heard of her, go listen to some of her songs before making up your mind.
  12. And the wait is officially over. Picked her up today. Pics below. Some of you have seen me post some info about a custom rimfire benchrest gun I am having built. It has been done for a few weeks, but I have been waiting on ammo testing to be done. Well, today was the day for results. I haven't even seen the gun, but I at least know it will shoot. 40 shot group at 50 meters came in at 15.3mm edge to edge. As you can see, the 10 shots groups were a bit smaller. I am sure it is going to outshoot me, I just hope I can learn to read the wind well enough to complete. I had some groups down in the 11mm range in some other lots, but there was also an almost 19mm group in that same lot. This one was most consistent overall. I will add some pics of the gun when it gets here. Should have it in hand on Friday if all goes well. I pretty excited right now. When I get the bill for the case of ammo, my enthusiasm may be diminished  .
  13. For what purpose?  I have two of their target models and they are great.  Not the prettiest guns, but they shoot well and the triggers in the target versions are superb.     Some of the Savage stocks on the normal models leave a bit to be desired, but depending what you want to do with it, they may be fine.  If just plinking, any of them will do.  For Hunting, any of them will do.  Accuracy will be good with all, but long range shooting requires one with a better stock (outside of the target versions) or you have to replace the factory one with something better.
  14. Welcome.  I grew south of Chicago and have traveled various places as well.  I am also glad to call TN home.  Been here 16 years and don't plan on moving unless I have to.
  15.   Ok, maybe I did then.  It has been a while since I got my last suppressor.
  16.   You might for a Form 1 SBR, but I don't think you do on a Form 4 suppressor as I don't think it is technically a firearm.  G&L did have me fill out a 4473 when I picked up my suppressors, but I think that was more of a bookkeeping thing for them.  I didn't get charged a background fee if I recall, but my memory isn't always the best these days.
  17.   So they pick one case out of millions that almost certainly had massive extenuating circumstances AND that they actually prosecuted to now try and scare people into thinking they are now dealers.   I am not trying to put your posts down, but if you believe that selling 1 or 2 guns is going to make you a dealer or that they will come after you for it, then you are the perfect mark for what Obama is trying to do.   If you are really concerned about it and want to sell something and force someone to go through a background check, by all means go for it.  I don't think you are going to get much interest, at least in a local face to face scenario.
  18. We can agree to disagree.  He is wrong and just pandering to the Fox audience, but that is just one man's opinion.
  19.   Talk to Chip of course, but you shouldn't need anything extra.  The effect of this won't become pertinent until 180 days after it goes in the register.  Not sure when that is.  I suppose the ATF could delay approving Form 1's and Form 4's on Trusts, but I don't see that happening.  A Form 1 for a SBR shoudn't take 6 months, especially since you can e-file.
  20. Not to bust on this as I think it's fine, but change.org has never changed a thing in its existence.  Even at 100,000 votes, they will just say "ok, thanks".    The executive and legislative branches know the view of gun owners.  Our effort is better focused on elections and politicians than a website where nothing will happen.  Just my  :2cents: .
  21.   I didn't say it was.  I was simply explaining what Obama is trying to push off as online gun sales.     The implication is that it is easier for a felon to "buy" (more like find) a gun to buy online on a forum, facebook, etc than having to go to a dealer and have a background check.  As we know, those things have nothing to do with one another, but it doesn't matter when the general public knows no difference.  It's easy to make it sound like the world will end when your audience has no clue what is really going on.
  22.   Easy, he buys it from a member of TGO, or GOC, Facebook, or Armslist, etc.  People buy from websites all of the time and meet locally and do the sale.  Those are the types of "online" sales they are mostly referring to.  Not buying from Bud's and having it shipped to an FFL.
  23.   I ask them.  Can they lie, sure, but an individual seller only has to have reasonable suspicion as mentioned before.  Use common sense, if they want to pay you double what it is worth, something is wrong.  Say what you want, but if you show up and look like a thug, I am not selling to you.  If you are from out of state, I am not selling to you.  Can I guarantee you are legal, maybe not, but I don't have to unless I have reasonable suspicion you may be a felon.   I don't think gr8smiles is selling his to live, he is selling to invest on other items.  That is not livelyhood, so even though BHO would like think he is a dealer, they would have to prove it.  I don't think they can.
  24.   Agreed, but only if they can prove he is using for that.  I don't use my gun money to live and most I know don't. We use any gun money (profit or loss) to buy other guns, not use for living expenses.  If you are, then you should be a dealer.  That was the case before any of this.  Nothing in this EO changes that.
  25. He's wrong.  I don't care if he is a judge or not.  Being a judge doesn't make you any smarter.  Go read the laws and any EO's.  You have to be in the "business" of selling guns.  That is already defined and Obama isn't changing it.  The "livelyhood" provision still remains.  I am referring the the guy who sells a gun periodically, not someone who has a table at every gun show.   At the end of the day, do what you feel is best, but I will sell guns and I will not do a background check.  I will ask to see ID, ask if they are a felon, and tell them to have a nice day so long as something else doesn't concern me.  That is the law for an individual seller, no REASONABLE suspicion someone should not own a gun.
