Man blows off leg shooting Tannerite rifle targets
Hozzie replied to Pete123's topic in General Chat
I was a young dumbass but had enough sense to know that when blowing things up you don't want to be anywhere close. I guess maybe I wasn't as big of dumbass as I thought. I just can't seem to muster up much sympathy. I am more pissed that on top of his dumbassedness (I like to make up words :nervous: ), we will probably also pay for his "disability" for the rest of his life :wall: . -
Sorry to hear all of this. I wish you well. I just went through something similar and had to make the difficult choice to put my best buddy down last week. It's heart wrenching. We believe Kennedy had the canine version of ALS. I also found out he had two large tumors in his abdomen that were causing issues. He was 12 which is just above average for Weimi's. I take solace in knowing he was loved and had a pretty incredible life for a dog. It's never easy, but I know I did what was in his best interest. I have no doubt you will do the same.

Absolutely. Just send in a form 1 and when you get it back, have it engraved and put a buttstock on it.

I think this thread has pushed me into getting one of the PSA Hybrids in 9mm and SBR'ing it. Seems like the perfect SHTF close range Truck AR. I like the idea of not worrying as much about pass through as there could be with a normal AR.

Guess I am on side of don't miss him one bit. He was an arrogant asshat most of the time in my view. To each his own.

Perfect, thanks everyone.

I am planning to go to the Rimfire Benchrest match (ARA) at CRC this weekend and plan to go down Friday and spend the night instead of getting up at the buttcrack of dawn to drive down. Where is the best area to stay near there. It looks like Exit 11 in Ooltewah is the exit to get to the range, but is that a decent area?

I will shoot every carpenter bee alive. I hate those things. I would love to use the walnut media loads, but still too loud to not draw interest from the neighbors.

Nope, if it has been sealed, I think you will be fine.

What do the cost savings have to be for you to reload a round?
Hozzie replied to NeveSSL's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
They do. It's exit 11 in Clarksville. Ok, not so much a store, but you can order what you want and pick it up. -

Hozzie replied to NeveSSL's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I don't reload to save money. I reload to get more accurate ammo. Unless you are shooting thousands of rounds a year, there is not really a payback. -
You can check with A&H reloading on 4th Ave S. If they don't and you don't mind a 45 min drive, Midsouth Shooters has it in stock as of right now. They are exit 11 in Clarksville. You can purchase ahead of time and they will have it ready for pickup. At least that way you know you will get it.

Pretty cute.

Middle Tennessee Rimfire Match Set at Strategic Edge
Hozzie replied to RegisG's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
Had a great turnout today at Strategic Edge. Had approximately 25 people show up to participate in the Tactical and Benchrest Rimfire matches. Below is a link to some pictures for anyone who attended or is just interested. Had all different types and ranges of guns. Thanks again Regis for setting up a great day. https://picasaweb.google.com/100759354478342992709/SERimfireBR?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCN_Qx8TKnJa-5wE&feat=directlink -
I think he meant did his neighbor really burn a flag. I would guess not. I think this may have been a poor attempt at satire. If it did happen, then that's another matter.

how much would you pay for surgery for your dog?
Hozzie replied to Bassoneer's topic in General Chat
For me, it comes down to what will be the dogs quality of life if it is successful. Even if it is successful, can he lead a fairly normal, active life. He is very young, so age isn't really a factor for me in a decision like this. Only you can say if you can afford it. I have spent thousands on my dogs in the past, but I was fortunate it wouldn't keep me from making the house payment and I am single and they have been my kids. Almost all vets will work out a payment plan as well. If I was fairly certain they knew what the problem was and were confident it could be fixed (more accurately, managed) by surgery, I would do it. If I wasn't 80% sure, as much as I would hate to, I would probably euthanize the dog. Not so much because of the money, but the fact that I wasn't convinced the dog wouldn't suffer. It's heart wrenching I know. -
I don't know if anyone is looking or needs another safe, but if you do, today is a great day to buy one at OpticsPlanet. I needed a second safe and went to the SafeHouse on Saturday looking at safes. After some more internet looking, I ran across this Browning Hells Canyon 48 at Optics Planet on sale. It's rated at 90 min at 1680 degrees, so not too bad and it has the apex system in it. So why is this a great deal? Today, they have an additional ten percent off, which brings it down to just under $2300. Keep in mind this is a BIG safe. It said shipping was TBD so I emailed to ask them before I potentially ordered how much shipping would be. They just responded and said it was included in the price. So to compare, Cabelas has it as well for $2549.99, but they want an additional $350 to ship it. I would have liked to bought at the Safe House, but they were higher in price, plus tax, and a $275 delivery fee. It's going in my walkout basement so delivery to my driveway was ok for me. This was a no brainer for me. They have other Browning Safes and you can customize if you go into the Silver and up series. I opted for more floor space inside. Anyway, if you have been looking or need a safe, today may be a good day to pull the trigger.

What does everyone use for case lube?
Hozzie replied to bigcdaddy's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Yes, but it only takes a few seconds. You don't need to put it on heavy. I spray at about a 45 degree angle down to get it on the outside and inside of the neck at the same time. -

I use Hornady and like it. The aerosol sprays are he easiest for me. Load up a tray and a couple of quick sprays is all that is needed. -
Yeah, I would go with a hidden phone app. Kids will die before leaving their phone behind.

I just can't seem to muster up one ounce of sympathy for this guy or his family. He was a grown man. He knew right from wrong, it has nothing to do with Ghetto, etc.

I am so glad I didn't grow up in today's ridiculous no fun environment. I would have missed out on about 90% of the best things I ever had as a kid. I might make my kid where a helmet (which we didn't do), but taking away everything that "could be" dangerous makes for a boring childhood. No wonder we have so many weenies out there today. I learned a lot about physics from having too much fun.

Giving this a bump. Regis has put in a lot of work getting this ready so we hope to see some of you on Saturday. Any additional questions, please ask.
