  1. I have the Savage. No issues at all. Rimfire for the most part is about ammo. Either one would be good.
  2. I did a search this morning and found this Infinity 7x14 which should be fine for me. From what I can gather, all of these are made in the same plant in China with some minor differences between them. This one has a 550 watt motor which is the biggest one I think anyone puts on this size and it has the digital readout which is nice. For $475 including some cutters, I think it was a good deal. I need to get a live center and drill chuck, but that isn't a big deal. I will take it apart and make sure everything is good and clean and then start playing.
  3. He didn't say South Side, he said south shore train unless you were just pointing out the worst area. I would bet that staying in downtown Chicago (loop/River North) is no more dangerous than staying in Downtown Nashville. How many here would stay in Bordeaux. Just sayin.
  4. Thanks for the input guys. I guess I should have been a bit more informative myself. I am not interested in a large, non movable lathe (although I will probably build and mount this to some type of table is a small area in my shop). This is just for fun and maybe creating something like bore guides or other small work. I have a workshop full of good woodworking equipment and this is just to play with. Same with a mill. I am not expecting to build parts to accuracy of 10,000th's of an inch. I guess I was more looking for comments on Mini Lathe's. The Jet one posted looks good for the price, I just don't want to deal with something that big.
  5. I think I am going to get a metal lathe to start playing with. Looking at the Grizzly G0768. Any of you who know more about this than me have an opinion on it? This is just for hobby use. Looked at the Harbor Freight 7x10 Mini Mill, but think I want something a bit bigger. I would rather spend a little more to start rather than wish I had gone bigger later. I will probably get a mill after this as I have heard it is better to have two machines. I see you can buy combo's as well. Any opinion on those? Thanks.
  6. I just hope I was far enough ahead at the beginning of May to keep my wait reasonable. It wouldn't surprise me if the ones sent today take 14-16 months to get back.
  7. Nice video. I don't have an issue with the c4 if they thought that was their best option. I am more annoyed they wasted a $150k robot to do it.
  8. I would say you can always defend yourself from one, sure. But you can't just shoot one because you see it while hunting something else. If you did shoot one in self defense, you would need to contact TWRA and let them know just to cover yourself.
  9. Well, kinda. I came from a small town south of the city, but I still have a fondness for it that I think most don't want to consider because of what they hear. The city is more than gang bangers and liberals. I am not saying move there, but everyone should see it at least once. Well to be fair Mike, only when I am around you . You bring out the best in people...
  10. That's unfortunate really. It's one thing to not like it having at least been there. I am guessing you wouldn't go to any major city and that's ok, but you miss out on a lot. It has some of the greatest architecture in the US. To each his own, but I hope others don't judge it by only what they hear.
  11. Have you ever been there?
  12. Only $100 more than it is worth
  13. Sorry to disappoint, but no hog hunting either unless you own property on which you hunt or have express written permission from a land owner.
  14. You can't hunt here at night at all for most game including coyotes. A red dot is ok for a scope, but nothing that would project on the animal. Here is the hunting regs in relation to hours. Legal Hunting Hours 1. All big game and small game species (except bullfrogs, raccoons, opossums, migratory birds and the chasing of foxes and rabbits) daylight hours only (30 minutes before official sunrise and until 30 minutes after official sunset) except turkey open only until official sunset. 2. Hunting of bullfrogs, raccoons, opossums, the chasing of foxes and rabbits, and the trapping of furbearers is permitted day or night unless restricted by Proclamation. No foxes or rabbits may be shot while chasing/ training at night. 3. Hunting of migratory birds is to comply with federal regulations for migratory birds, unless restricted by Proclamation.
  15. I would leave my gun as well. Yes, Chicago is a liberal cesspool, but unless you are going in areas that most of us would never go, you are not going to have an issue. Where exactly are you going to be? If you are downtown, you will be fine. Just use common sense like in any big city and be aware of your surroundings. Chicago is a great city to with a lot to offer. Some of the best museums in the world and a great aquarium. Hell, there are shootings every day in Nashville now, but I suspect not where most of us are going.
  16. Hillary must have received Casters letter back
  17. Yeah, now worse than it was before the brief improvement.
  18. Seems to have gotten a little better just now. Maybe there was some indexing going on or something.
  19. Yeah, it is taking a long time to respond for me as well from my laptop. Don't know if it is the service provider or the software, but something is definitely very slow.
  20. Yes, it shows the date submitted. I would e-file.
  21. Yeah, it goes in an out quite often. You just have to keep trying.
  22. Seems to me if this is the case, then the labels shouldn't allow them to use their music. They have a choice I am guessing. I am sure it is complex, but I don't feel like I am stealing anything. This is now the way of the world. The labels will need to adapt like everyone else.
  23. Stihl for me as well.
  24. What's great about Spotify is that you can create your own playlists and you can download them so you don't have to have Internet access to listen and use data while in the car. I pay something like $10/month for premium access, but I think it is worth it.
