  1. Call it country or not, the proof is in the pudding, e.g. $$$. These artists sell what people want and old school country just isn't it anymore. You can argue outlaw country still has some footing, but true old school country is in the past. It isn't ever coming back, at least not in a mainstream way. Music changes generationally and the old country generation is getting well, old. With it goes the demand for that type of country music.
  2. They have an ARA match once a month at Oak Ridge. I think they are done for this year, but they should start back up next spring. There are also matches at Kettelfoot. They do indoor matches during the winter. I don't see a schedule up for this year yet, but check the ARA website in the coming weeks and I am sure the new matches will be there.
  3. I wanted to officially invite all interested to our first official “ARA” (American Rimfire Association) club match at Strategic Edge this Saturday, October 15th at 8:30 AM. This is the first relay ready time, so please plan to be there early (around 7:30) if you want to shoot. We have signed up as an official ARA club and we will have two official shoots this year. This weekend will be our first match and our first national shoot will be on November 19th. We expect to have some of the best ARA shooters from around the Southeast in attendance in November, including the ARA National Champ. We will shoot a 3 card match this Saturday as an introduction for locals and the more publicized match in November will be a 5 card match. We will have a monthly match starting next year in March, most likely the first Saturday of every month. We are an outdoor club, so typically our season runs from March - Nov. So, just what is ARA and how is the game played? ARA is based on a 25 bull target shot at 50 yards with 1 shot per bull scored for a total possible score of 2500 points. You have 20 minutes to shoot the entire card and you can shoot as many sighter’s as you would like. This is what the target looks like. ARA is scored on ‘worst’ edge meaning the outside of the bullet hole away from the center of the bull is what determines your score for that shot. Don’t worry about having to understand it completely; we explain everything in detail during the match and will score everything. Scoring example below. What equipment can you use? These will be unlimited class matches which basically means, bring whatever you want to shoot so long as it is a 22lr. I promise you if you like shooting 22’s for small groups, you will like this game and it will make you a better shooter. If you think you have a “tack driver”, bring it and as we say “show up and shoot”. This game is a ton of fun, but it isn’t easy. Hint #1: The wind is the devil . There will be some very nice BR guns there, but don’t let that stop you. We have had everything from 10/22’s on bipods up to full BR guns, it doesn’t matter. Just show up and have some fun and compete with yourself if nothing else. I can promise you that shooters that play this game are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Yes, this can be a serious competition, but it is also about making friends and having a good time. If you aren’t sure if this is up your alley, you are welcome to even just come watch if you would like. However, I know most who do this wish they would have just brought their gun and shot in it. Cost for the first match will be $20. It is an extra $5 for non-range members. Plan on needing a minimum of 150 rounds of ammo (total) for the 3 targets. You can easily go through 25 sighter’s on a target. We will also have a short sighter 5 min warm up before the first card to let everyone get a feel for shooting the target. My recommendation to anyone wanting to give it a try. Just come do it. I don’t think you will be disappointed in the slightest. For anyone who thinks they may want to attend regularly, I highly recommend you sign up as an ARA member. The cost is free and this will help track your scores throughout the year. You can find the signup sheet here: http://americanrimfire.com/index.php/auth/create . After each match, I will send in all scores for official records. It’s no problem at all to not sign up, you can always do it later when you get addicted . For more information on ARA, please check out the website. http://www.americanrimfire.com If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. There are very few, if any, real Rimfire BR matches in Middle TN, so we hope this may appeal to many of you. We want to make our matches some of the best attended in the Southeast. It starts with getting the local shooters introduced to the sport so if you have any questions at all, please let me know. Range is located at 2613 TN-270, Chapel Hill, TN 37034. Thanks!
  4. I also have this gun. It's a nice little suppressor host and I as well have had no issues out of it. I am not a "plastic" gun guy, but I do like the M&P line. I have the full size 9mm, Shield 9mm, and this. Happy with all of them. If someone is looking for a more full size equivalent 22, the Sig/GSG 1911-22 is an excellent option. I have one along with 4 or 5 other friends and not a single issue out of them for any of us. The Mosquito sucked unless you were only shooting MiniMags, but the 1911-22 shoots anything I feed it.
  5. No worries if you are set on Dillon, but I have an as new LNL for sale with a lot of extras. I am in Franklin and you can come by to look at it if you like.
  6. Finally. Kind of odd I received notification on a Sunday, but I'll take it. E-file Form 1: 9mm SBR. Sent 4/14. approved 10/02.
  7. If you need bait or dogs to hunt, you aren't a hunter. I believe in fair chase. I don't hunt much anymore simply because I don't like most of the meat and I don't believe in killing most things that I don't have a purpose for. There are a few exceptions I suppose, but for the most part, as I get older, I think more about why I am doing it. Hunting is necessary and I have no problem with it so long as it is done ethically. It seems too many now days are simply about the kill and not the purpose.
  8. There is more to this story. I am not sure what it is, but there is definitely more to the story.
  9. I just so happen to have a Model 66 no dash I would sell with a 4" barrel. I also really like the 357 round. Lots of way to load it for whatever you want to do.
  10. I will give it a chance. Did you like 24 or Blacklist? They aren't realistic either, but they are both great shows (at least for me). I don't read too much into a TV show. That's what it is, a "show".
  11. I tried to get tickets when they went on sale. I was able to get to the request form immediately as I hit the refresh just right. After waiting for approx 15 seconds to get my seats, it said sorry, sold out. It's a bunch of BS. I think Sen. Blackburn put forth legislation to make the automated purchases illegal, but I doubt it will ever be fixed. About the only way to get tickets to these things now is to be a part of their fan club and have access to them a few days or week earlier.
  12. Not sure what you paid, but I would recoup what I could by selling it and find something better. I don't think there is much you are going to do if you can't replace RAM or the SSD yourself.
  13. I had the pleasure to meet him a few times in an informal setting. He was as genuine of man as you could meet. He was also a great competitor. The golf world has lost a legend. RIP.
  14. Not super local, but I bought a case from Midsouth a while back. If you really need it, it wouldn't be too bad of a drive from Gallatin.
  15. I am very sorry for his pain and your loss. This is unacceptable at every level. You and your family are in my thoughts.
  16. I am usually on the conservative side in favor of the dogs, but I see nothing wrong with what you did. Size of the dog also comes into play. I have done the same thing, meaning having my dog run up to someone wanting to say hello. You don't know what their intent is. I think you did all you could do under the circumstances. In the moment, if it was my dog, I can see myself being less than hospitable, but after the adrenaline rush, I would calm down.
  17. Do we really have to answer that? I think we all know the answer.
  18. I will give you a call tomorrow.
  19. I had my controls moved up and a carry handle added. I would highly recommend both. I can meet you at SE and let you try it if you would like before finalizing your order. Here is mine
  20. What rest. Call cliff Arnold. I can give you his number. Or call me and I can give you some info. I'll pm you.
  21. Have you shot any ARA targets with it yet?
  22. Got this from another hunting site. Pretty funny, but sad actually, that this is what we are dealing with.
  23. I basically heat them for about 4 seconds in the flames and turn the holder and add the next piece of brass. I don't quench them in water. They just go into a pan below the stand. That's about it. Basically it needs to get hot enough to soften the brass molecularly. I am probably not the best to give specifics, but if you google it, I think you will find more info than you ever wanted.
  24. I built this pretty cheap. There is a YouTube video somewhere from a guy who did it originally Works good for what I do
  25. Found this. T.C.A. 55-8-110 ....... . .(b) Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, the driver of a motorcycle approaching an intersection that is controlled by a traffic-control signal utilizing a vehicle detection device that is inoperative due to the size of the motorcycle shall come to a full and complete stop at the intersection and, after exercising due care as provided by law, may proceed with due caution when it is safe to do so. It is not a defense to a violation of ?º 55-8-109 that the driver of a motorcycle proceeded under the belief that a traffic-control signal utilized a vehicle detection device or was inoperative due to the size of the motorcycle when such signal did not utilize a vehicle detection device or that any such device was not in fact inoperative due to the size of the motorcycle Looks like there may not be a time limit. I don't even know if this is still valid, but would be worth looking up if you ride. I don't ride anymore so I will let someone else dig further.
