Updated: Didn't get much sleep....brought a new lady home!
Hozzie replied to Hozzie's topic in General Chat
Yeah, I am a dog nut so have most of the main training practices down. I work at home so it makes it easier to make sure she is able to go out every few hours for a potty break. So far, she hasn't went inside, but I am sure that streak won't last. -
If flying to Ft Lauderdale, would you take your carry piece with you?
Hozzie replied to musicman's topic in General Chat
Take it. I don't think you will have any issues. -

Thanks Everyone! It's fun to see their personalities start to come out more and more. She is pretty laid back and doing very well at night so far. I am hopeful it keeps up. -
Good Update at last post: Original Post: Well, today was a tough one. I took Ellie to my Vet and found out she has a very severe heart murmur and probably only had a life expectancy of 2 years. The breeder told me before I picked her out that she had a slight murmur, but her vet said he thought it could close as she got older. My vet disagreed and thought it was very severe so I had to make the very tough decision to return her to the breeder. The breeder handled the entire situation with empathy and class. I couldn't have asked them to handle it any better. They are going to get a second opinion, but I just couldn't start down that road with a new pup. I am obviously upset by this, but it would have only been worse had I waited longer. I guess it's time to reflect on this and wait for the next right time. It's a sad night for me.

Agreed, it's nice to figure out your dope up and down, but reading crosswind is the hard part. It takes a lot of time to really get good at it.

Welcome Mike. I don't know of any 3p matches around, but I run an ARA Rimfire BR match at Strategic Edge in Chapel Hill. We will start back up in April for the outdoor season. If you think you may be interested at some point, just let me know and I can provide you more info. Jamie

Sorry for your loss. Always remember the great times.

It's not even a contest. Cabela's everything is better than BP. I hate that BP bought it.

Got mine today as well. Can't go wrong with a Cubs flag and nice Leatherman. I will definitely use it as it is a nice carry size. Edit: Received another package today with a nice pocket LED Flashlight. It's a bright little guy! Thanks to my Secret Santa.

Mine should be similar. Been gone for the last couple of weeks.

I don't find it odd. I find it encouraging. At least they show they recognize there is a threat now. I hate to say it, but I am against the general public being able to take guns on a plane. Too many morons already carrying guns. At least when they shoot themselves or someone next to them now they can't take down an entire plane. You can check a gun, that is good enough for me. The guy carrying the AR wasn't TSA for sure.

The Vizio sound bars with wireless subwoofer and remote speakers works very well for me. They are reasonably priced.

DIY Plywood 4 wheeler rack. Has anyone done this?
Hozzie replied to Randall53's topic in Hunting and Fishing
I would build a small frame out of steel angle iron (like 1x1) and then use 3/8 plywood. It should be lighter than 3/4 plywood and plenty strong to hold a deer out past the wheel wells. You could even put some hinges on it and fold it over itself when you are not using it on the way out to keep the width of your 4 wheeler down. Something like this. Not to scale obviously. Put hinges where blue lines are. -
I will be throwing a Turkey breast on the Kamado Joe around noon. Just a simple roast as my mom has to have gravy so the temp will be up a bit with a drip pan. It's been brining for just over 24 hours so I should be good to go. I 'll take a pic when I get it on the grill.

100% companion for me although I may get it certified as a therapy dog.

While I agree it doesn't guarantee anything, multiple generations of OFA clearance is about as close as you can get to a guarantee. I worry most about Hip Displasia, but eyes are a close second. You can spend a lot on any of it. I do think many times, mutts have less problems that pure breads because of unscrupulous breeders. If I am paying that kind of money, I require OFA clearances. It's pretty amazing actually on some of the records available. This litter has some lineage OFA clearances back to the 60's. Don't get me wrong, I also believe in rescues 95% of the time.

If you can't find one soon, you can get in line for one from Passion for Golden's in Clarksville. http://passionforgold.homestead.com/index.html . I am getting one from her in January, but she told me it will be a small litter and she may not have enough puppies for those interested. She only breeds a couple of times a year, but the dogs have health certifications for multiple generations. That was one reason I have waited this long. They aren't cheap either as the companion dogs are $1500. I will get a second from the pound as I think there are plenty of great dogs out there who need homes. I had a Golden as my very first dog when I was on my own and I have a very special place for them is the only reason I am getting one from the breeder. There are also a couple of Golden Rescue's in southern and middle TN. http://tvgrr.com/Adoptable-Goldens.html http://www.adoptagoldennashville.org/orphans.html

I know Wade Hull who owns Shilen. Super nice guy and they do great work. Most of the records in Rimfire BR have been made with Shilen Ratchet barrels. If you would have any issues, I know they will take care of you.

New ARA Club and Match (Rimfire Match) - Sat, Nov 19th
Hozzie replied to Hozzie's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
Our next match is on Nov 19th. It will most likely settle the ARA national A-Line championship. It should be a great match. Even if you aren't sure you would want to do this, come out and take a look. These are some of the best shooters in the country. The match will start at 10:00 AM. If anyone has questions, just let me know. -
I guess I am missing something, but it must be a miserable way of going about ones day to always be looking over your shoulder and on high alert. Yes, there are some bad people out there, but man relax a bit.

Don't know if anyone else is watching the Cubs parade on ESPN. 5 Million + in attendance. Absolutely awesome. Wish I was there.
