I run the ARA match in Middle TN. I don't believe Memphis is still doing their match. You are certainly correct in that most of us bring two guns to a match and would be glad to let a new shooter try them out. One thing to note is that you are looking at $15-$18 per box of ammo used and they will most likely want you to use their ammo. No CCI in these guns. A 5 card match will take at minimum 5 boxes. I just want to set some expectations about the cost. It isn't a cheap endeavor. On the note about junior shooters, Madison Reed whom is 14 just finished 7th overall at ARA Outdoor Nationals out of 100 competitors last weekend. There are some good young shooters out there.

His best bet is a CMP or NRA Smallbore Compeition. Most likely a 3P match. I would call the University and ask if they know of local matches. That is probably the best bet. MSSA used to shoot Rimfire Benchrest, but I don't see any matches this year. As mentioned above, not sure of the financial situation, but none of these are cheap to do and require some travel most of the time.

I need to get new gutters and some work will need to be done on my soffets. Anyone here do that kind of work and want to give me a bid? Or do you know someone who does good work at a fair price? Located in Williamson county.

Thanks everyone. I ended up ordering online this time, but may check some of these others. O'Neal steal basically deals in larger pieces. They would cut some things, but for what I was wanting to get, it didn't make sense. I also called Metal Supermarkets, but they don't carry any plate over 1/4" so they would have had to order it in anyway. Next time, I will check a couple of the others and see what they can do. Thanks again.

Thanks, I'll check them out.

Does anyone know of a place to buy metal around Nashville? I am looking for some steel (1144 preferred) 1" round bar (and other things as needed such as SS and Aluminum). I am talking more than HD or Lowes has. I can order online, but sometimes it is easier (even if it isn't cheaper) than waiting for something to be shipped. Thanks.

No, there are fees for all except the long range qualifier class.

Paul Ryan Lets National Reciprocity Stall

Apples and Oranges, but yes. This is how our Constitution works. Don't like your states laws, vote people in to change them or move to a State you agree with. -
Anybody else gotta weedeat the whole yard before ya mow??
Hozzie replied to Steelharp's topic in General Chat
I can guarantee you that pros are not using Pam on their decks in most cases. I have read some that use it, but most of the commercial decks are easy to clean. Plus most of those guys change blades daily and simply clean it when they change blades. Mow high and figure out a way to raise your mower to clean the deck. An easy way are to use the drive on car stands. It will get it high enough to get under. Just use a screwdriver and pry away the compacted grass and it will help. It is all about airflow and uplift. I hate to be hard, but really, mulching decks are the worst deck possible, especially if you can't mow often enough to only cut about 1/2 off of the top of the grass. Anything more just creates a clumpy mess. Not sure what mower you have, but maybe they make a open deck for it. It really all comes down to how picky you are. I know some people just want it cut and it doesn't matter what the result is, meaning mostly dead grass laying everywhere. I can't do that. Only thing worse is people that blow the grass into the street and leave it. They should be shot. (Yes, I am a bit of a mowing snob. I blame my dad. He isa do it right guy and it stuck with me). -

Get rid of that mulching mower. If you can't mow at least every 4 days, mulching is terrible. Get something that you can set at least 4 " (5" is better) high and remove the discharge blocker. Worst case, hire someone to come in and mow it down to where you can manage it again at a lower height. -
I have had it for a couple of weeks now a well it seems.

Just ordered this. Have a few weeks before it gets here. Time to really see how many things I can screw up

Topstraps Rimfire Match Won with a 2x4
Hozzie replied to TGO David's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
I will agree it is a neat course and looks like a lot of fun, but I think the 2x4 stock looks worse than it actually is. There is a guy we shoot competitions with who has been testing a completely free floated action with very good success. That is what this looks like to me. He uses a barrel clamp in the stock (his is actually a plywood contraption) and lets the rest of the rifle action free float. He actually has no stock on the back of his. The guy above is also using a 52C, maybe the most accurate factory rimfire ever made. Yes, he still needs to be able to read the wind and I am sure he is a good shot, but this probably isn't as crazy of setup as most might realize. I would love to take a shot at the course, looks like a lot of fun. -
Nashville Fireworks Show--No Guns Allowed???

I am sure it was no one at the event downtown. Some idiot within a 1.5 mile radius. -
Going to the UK is as close to going anywhere in the US as it comes (outside of driving on the other side of the road). London is a big city, so standard big city rules and precautions should apply. If she hasn't traveled a lot, then I would encourage her to study a bit of the layout and landmarks. It will make it easier to get around. As they know someone there, it may not be an issue at all. As to the flight, it's not really that long if she is flying from the east coast, maybe 6 hours. I agree to stay up if at all possible once you get there. Eat before you get on the plane and skip the dinner. Sleep as much a possible on the flight, it will make it easier the next day. Outside of that, just have fun. Lots to see around London.

I wonder if you could use a concrete sander to smooth it out a bit. I am not sure I would do a slurry simply because I think once we get some rain that freezes, I bet it will chip like crazy. I would probably sand it a bit and seal the heck out of it and call it good.

It's on the front page of Fox News right now. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/06/16/hero-homeowner-holds-escaped-georgia-inmates-at-gunpoint-until-arrests.html

It will be a few days. After playing with the pistol for a few before converting it, I decided the rifle would suit me better so I am swapping them. Rifle should be here in a few days and I will do a review.
-
No idea on any of that so far. I am sure it will slow down as it gets low. I am not looking for anything other than plinking cans at 10-15 yards. Once I get it back together and do some testing I will let you know.

I couldn't find a full auto version. Not sure that is really the case. Even the 6 shot burst is fun, but I will take it apart and "fix" it .
-
For anyone interested, here is a youtube on how to make it full auto. Can't wait to play.
-
Wasn't really sure where to put this so I put it here as there is also a version with a buttstock that is a rifle. I ran across a guy posting on this on RFC and between his post and the youtube, I decided I had to try one. It should be here tomorrow. It looks like you can change these full auto pretty easily. They are not firearms by law so it is perfectly legal. They come with 6 round burst and regular semi-auto by default. The gun was only $90 and i bought 40 bottles of C02 and 30000 pellets so all in I am at $160. Pretty decent price for what looks to be a lot of fun. I'll report back how it works. I am not a fan of Umarex stuff in general, but this looked fun enough to take a flyer on it.

Yes, but I don't see it happening. Too much money to be lost.
