I don't see the issue. They are going to a judge and getting a signed warrant. This is exactly what they should be doing unless you believe that under no circumstances whatsoever someone should be able to have their guns taken. My only real question is what is the process to get them back. That should be well defined.

I shoot more now than I ever have, but it is only one thing, Rimfire Bemchrest. I agree with the sentiment for many that it isn’t fun to shoot alone, but what has really kept me interested and invested in Rimfire BR is the people. I go as much to matches to see people as I do shoot. I travel all over the Southeast and Midwest competing and have met a lot of great people I consider dear friends I would suggest for some to maybe find a firearm sport where they can go shoot and meet new people. Some do idpa, some do BR, it doesn’t matter, just go find a match you think you might like. I won’t lie, depending what you are doing it isn’t cheap and I know that is a barrier for some, but here is a huge list of matches out there. There is surely one to fit most, but you have to look.

My recommendation, don't use one at all. I understand not being from the area and maybe wanting someone who knows to take you around, but with everything available on the internet now, I would create a list of houses I wanted to see and make an appointment with each individual selling agent. I will disclose that I dislike real estate agents and have no real use for them. I don't see the value, but know it is an intimidating process for some so I don't care if someone wants to use one, just realize you are paying for it. With that said, the basics are any listed home has a seller and buyers agent fee percentage. Typically this is 3% to each for a total of 6%, but can vary from 1% to 3% each depending. The way I look at it is that I can represent myself as a buyer. I can make an appointment to look at any house I want with the sellers agent. If I like a house, I immediately take 3% off the top of any price I may consider offering as they do not have to pay a buyer's agent. This can be a fair amount of money. They love people that don't understand these items so they can double dip. I actually make it a point to make sure the sellers know why I am asking 3% less as it shouldn't be on them to take the hit for my lower asking price all on their own. The agent should agree take some of the cost since they don't have to pay it out. This all of course depends on how desirable a house is and how fast it may sell, but don't pay an agent any more than you need to and use it to your advantage. If you feel 3% is fair to represent you by all means do it. Some argue they are not paying so they don't care. You are paying it, they just want to make it feel like someone else is paying it. You also feel it when you go to sell. YMMV

Help creating a website using another one as a template
Hozzie replied to jgradyc's topic in General Chat
If the other guy gives you permission, just copy the folder structure to a new folder in the root of the web server and then make updates. You will of course need a domain. Shouldn't be too hard. -
Are you looking for a challenge or are you looking more for within an inch is ok? Big difference in options and what it takes depending on what you really want to do. There are lots of options in calibers, but very few that can obtain extreme accuracy without some work put into it. Do you reload or are you willing to reload? Full disclosure, accuracy to me is much different than accuracy to most others. I shoot competition rimfire at 50 yards and it can challenge anyone as much as anything out there. It's not really about how far, but how accurate at how far that would sway my answer. What would you prefer, lower noise and lower recoil at a shorter distance, or more noise and more recoil at a longer distance? Basically I am trying to determine if Rimfire or Centerfire makes more sense.

I would be lying if I said I have not thought about running some people over at Walmart. I don't go a lot, but when I do, I inevitably get the jackwagons that think the middle of the aisles in the parking lot are for a leisurely Sunday stroll. They even look back at you like "why in the heck are you doing driving in the middle of the road behind me?" It never crosses their mind to move to one side of the aisle. I am sure the OP wasn't doing this so not directed at him. It's just my Walmart experience every time I go.

Heck, they may have models from last year or even a nice trade in. Can't hurt to call and see what they say. I also would prefer prices to show online, but on the flip side, they always end up either putting MSRP which no one pays or the lowest price with no real options included which also doesn't give a realistic price. On things like this I would call and talk to someone or preferably go and put my hands on them. I buy a lot of things based on my comfort level with the people as much as the product. Products for the most part are easy to compare. Service isn't.

There is a Lund dealer in Somerset KY. I think they make a pretty decent boat. May be worth a call to see what they have to look at. Not terribly far from you. https://www.lookoutmarine.com/s/search/inventory/availability/In Stock/brand/Lund/sort/best-match

App for finding folders with a given number of files?
Hozzie replied to DaveTN's topic in General Chat
I will have to check, but I think Notepad++ may do it. It’s great for searching files or whole folders for text strings. -
His point was related to small online businesses, not conglomerates. Yes, the big guys can buy cheaper, but with taxes things become a lot more fair.
-
On the flip side it will help every local small business trying to compete with the same people.

I have bought and sold a lot of guns on forums. Basically don't deal with people who have very few posts and no feedback. If you don't see any feedback, ask them if they have any other forums with positive feedback. I have used Paypal, USPS MO, Personal Check's, etc without a single issue. Do a search on any email address from them to check for issues and also a name. If they have screwed someone, there is info out there and a few simple searches can find it. IF it seems too good to be true, it is. Simple rule.

For me it's a simple question and answer. One should have the courtesy to inform the charter of your intentions and see what they say. If you were on my boat and I found out you were carrying without me knowing you may be swimming home. I MAY let you carry, but it would be based on some questions I ask to get a feel for what type of person I think you are. Remember you are a stranger to these people. Sometimes we need to do the right thing even if we think we won't get the answer we like. At that point you make your own choice, but I can't believe in general that people don't have more respect for other business and property. Not directed at you, more at the mentality I hear a lot.

Hit CTRL + on your computer to increase the page size. It will increase for all pages though if that is an issue. Use CTRL - to go smaller in size.

Try some hot water with the hard food. I buy Acana which is high end food, but my dog likes some flavors and not others. I get a different flavor each time I need it to change things up but I keep track of the ones she doesn't like. Mine isn't so much a picky eater, but not just a big eater. I leave food out and she will only eat right before bed or maybe take a bit here and there. If I put hot water in it, a lot of time she will drink the hot flavored water and wait until later to eat. Dog food is much better overall than it used to be. I don't think you need the best, just find what she likes. To be honest, every dog I have had likes Beniful even though it isn't the greatest food. In general, I agree that when she is hungry enough she will eat. The only thing I would watch for is if she doesn't want to eat at all which could mean a bad tooth or something.

The Triple Crown is the largest Rimfire Benchrest shoot in the country each year. It is 6 days of different shoots with Sat/Sun being what we call the Triple Crown. The reason it is called that is there are 3 main sanctioning bodies in Rimfire BR and we shoot 3 of each target over those two days to crown an overall winner. We will have around 120 shooters this year. The other shoots that week are the official state shoots and the Professional Shooting League qualifier on Friday. It is held at the Rimfire Range at Kettlefoot in Bristol. If anyone is in that vicinity and would like to come out and check it out, please do. We will have the top shooters in the country as well as some shooters from the UK, Ireland, and maybe Australia. If anyone is really into BR, there are few spots left. I suspect if you are into BR you already know about it, but it is a cool experience to see even if you aren't into BR and just want to visit. If someone decides to go, ask for Jamie. Most should know me. Would be glad to meet some other TGO'rs.

For a nice value gun, I like the CZ 527 American. Not super expensive, but very good quality and accuracy in most cases. I am not even sure they made it, but a Ruger #1 in 22 Hornet could be fun too. The CZ's are out there pretty readily. IF you don't mind expensive, I find the Cooper Western Classics about the prettiest gun out there. I love the case hardening. https://hendershots.net/product/cooper-38-western-classic-22-hornet/

UPS. Anyone Having Issues Shipping Firearms with UPS?
Hozzie replied to Old Mitch's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I have shipped a lot of guns from the Seaboard Dr. location in Franklin. Just show them the FFL. They have never asked a question. -

I haven’t, and it isn’t meant to be personal, but it doesn’t change the facts. Everyone is ok with things when it is good for them. When it is no longer beneficial, then it becomes an issue and worse it leads to ways to get payback. None of us should accept that even though it makes us feel good. I have it good, I am not saying I don’t, but having it hard also doesn’t excuse what is being discussed IMO.

One should ask themselves if it is so bad, why only make a deal of it now or after you are out. Seems a bit hypocritical. So long as it has been good for you it’s ok, but now it is a safety issue? I get it, you’re upset as you have to move, but you should also realize that as a renter you take that chance at any time. Life isn’t fair. We have all got the short end of some stick. You have time to plan, consider yourself lucky, but realize what you are talking about doing comes across just as bad. Serious question, if it is so bad, why take the risk of living there. We know why and that is ok, but you also can’t fault a landlord for wanting to improve their situation either.

For me it happens in the unread thread area. Haven’t watched it that close recently but I have got the same message as Hershmeister before.

I couldn't before the upgrade either. It asked me the password once and then seemed to stop working. I just chalked it up to something Tapatalk wasn't good for. I took it as a sign to spend less time arguing about politics
