  1. In China sure. It would have probably made it here, but being travel was much different, it may not have been here at all.
  2. I guess I am a bad person as I just don't care about this at all. Seems to me all of the impact is caused by proliferation of the apparent societal desire that only the worst possible outcomes will happen regardless of reality. Is it contagious, sure. Is it deadly to a few, yes. Is it going to stop the world as we know it, of course not. It's simply a self fulfilling prophecy which is being exacerbated by the media looking for the most sensational story possible. If this was 30 years ago we probably wouldn't have heard about it and probably would have been better off.
  3. Who knows, in a chopper he can be in Putnam county in 25 minutes. Wouldn't surprise me if they at least do a flyover. Maybe not.
  4. Not sure if many of you know of this site, but it brings me a chuckle a day on the political front. I expect most here will agree. https://babylonbee.com/ Thought everyone could use a laugh in these crazy times. One of my favorites from the last couple of days as an example. https://babylonbee.com/news/bernie-sanders-confused-by-new-hampshire-state-motto-live-free-or-die--both-of-those-options-sound-horrible
  5. This may the first time I have ever heard of someone who doesn't like a suppressor. I won't hardly shoot without one on any gun outside of a shotgun, revolver, and some of my collector guns I don't want to thread. Please give it away before you give it to the BATFE. Someone will still have to pay $200 for the stamp so it's not like they aren't investing anything.
  6. What kind of burden are you thinking it will create? You get a free transfer. From the ATF website: Once you die, the NFA items will need to be transferred to the heirs of the Will. They will need to complete a Form 5 tax free application for each NFA item, and submit them to the ATF for approval. The Form 5 application is a tax free transfer. Unless they hate guns, I would just make it part of the will. Nothing really burdensome about it and better yet, they have a suppressor when done.
  7. I won't disagree with you in theory, but value is subjective and convenience will win out over privacy in the marketplace 95% of the time. Marketers don't worry about the 5%, they worry about the 95%. It's probably even higher than that.
  8. The fact is, those companies make it the most efficient to do what people want to do. Yes, I could do a lot of things, but they can do in zero time, what it would take the normal person hours or potentially days to do. They offer it because that's what people want. This has been going on for years in the credit card/banking game. They know what you buy, when you buy it, how much you spend, how much you make, etc. Then sold it to marketers to increase their rate of return on advertising. It's just then it wasn't as known. There is no such thing as privacy now, period.
  9. Isn't that kind of like saying "I have this rotary phone to make phone calls, no one needs one of silly cell phone things. All they want to do it track your location." I understand your intent and while technology brings its own set of issues, the good outweighs the bad in most cases.
  10. While I can appreciate the intent of not wanting to give everything to the internet, the fact is, that ship has sailed. While I do believe in many cases, and certainly even in this case, they will use the data to profile you, I also don't immediately dismiss the result of the process as all bad. Yes, one could take out a camera and take pictures, send them to be printed, etc, and then write notes of them, etc, however.... In this day and age, even our older parents and grandparents are using technology they never dreamed of. They are taking pictures on their phone and it is automatically uploaded to the internet, etc. The fact is the simplest, and I would argue even best, way for memories to be archived is "in their own voice and words". What easier way to do that than simply talking, something anyone can do at any age. Imagine if you had the forethought to have a voice recorder when you were a kid and were talking to your grandparents and them telling you stories. Now think of that recording being able to automatically link together with pictures and memories that you would then have access to 20, 30, 40, 50 years later. I think most would take that without a second thought. I can be, and am becoming more so, cantankerous to many things including many technical things (especially social media), but this is one I can see value in, especially as I get older.
  11. I'm a crazy dog guy so the ad from the owner of WeatherTech as a thank you for saving his dogs life is pretty awesome to me. He paid 6 million dollars to bring attention to the Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine which treated him and is doing great things for cancer treatment in animals. I bought WeatherTech products before but will do so again to support them.
  12. I always check https://gun.deals. You can search the gun by name, but what I like is once you know the exact model you are looking for, using model or UPC, you get a nice list of the best price. It may not say if tax is collected, but it shows shipping cost and it's easy enough to find out if they want to collect tax.
  13. I put together a PSA Glock mag 9mm SBR. Haven't shot it a lot, but does really well with 147gr bullets and my suppressor. I would think a pistol version would be fine. I just don't like braces for shoulder mounting.
  14. No, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Probably just a speed sign or if it was a cop, you weren't going fast enough for him to care.
  15. Being the same grandson that wanted the 6.5 Creedmore (I assume), I am guessing if you asked him, he would go with the 7mm-08. Why? It is different. Everyone has heard of 308, but if gets to talking with his buddies he will be proud that he has something different. I would let him choose as well. He may do some research and decide. I think that alone is worth it. If he's interested enough to research it, and you don't care, let him decide. 7mm-08 will be around forever too. It's too well established.
  16. Bought and sold many things on GOC without issue. Use your common sense and you should be fine. If I feel anything at all is off kilter, I just don't do it.
  17. I think 46% is pretty good. What gunowners go to the MSNBC website regularly and look for a poll? I never go there.
  18. They didn’t want my business before so I don’t feel the need to give it to them now. Plenty of places to buy things they have.
  19. That's the problem. You think its because they took the right person out to dinner. The real reason is because they most likely have spent years working with many people involved, listened and understood the real needs, and put together a plan to show the customer (doesn't matter if it is private or public) that they will provide the product and service level desired. This isn't some magic process. It can happen that someone wins a deal after an RFP comes out, but it is much harder. The issue is not with the process as far as I am concerned. The bigger issue in my view is with the actual regulations that give preference to some companies over another just because they are minority owned. In many cases, they use extortion to win business, not ability or track record. There will never be a perfect process, but losers always have excuses and winners always have reasons.
  20. No, by doing your job, building relationships. Contracts are about relationships. We all know that probably does happen in some cases, but not as much as many would like to think. Relationships are built over dinners, etc. but that is part of business. Even dinner is hard to do anymore. Losers like to think is was purely a money issue, but it never is. It's more about who decision makers have a better relationship with. More business is lost by not knowing who the real decisions makers are. It's not always the person on top.
  21. Someone at SIG did their job. If an RFP comes out from the government and it isn't tilted towards you and you are in the business, you didn't do your job. Contracts are won and lost way before an RFP ever comes out.
  22. You would be wrong in your definition. Per ATF: The term “Firearm” means: Any weapon (including a starter gun) which will or is designed to or may readily be converted to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive; The frame or receiver of any such weapon; Any firearm muffler or firearm silencer; or. Any destructive device. So those rounds are the same as any other ammo in the ATF's eyes. I don't think you were trying to imply getting around any laws, but everyone should know the legal definition. I have used them in a revolver, but that's about it. Since I bought suppressors I haven't used them at all.
  23. Just buy a Smith M&P 15-22 and be done with it. Not worth the price difference to buy an upper, new bolt, and magazines. Just have two guns. Here you go...with free shipping. https://www.sportsmansoutdoorsuperstore.com/products2.cfm/ID/168616
  24. I couldn't agree more. I moved to my new place in May and couldn't be happier. More work to do, but I enjoy it. The fact that I can hunt on my own land if I want to is a big plus. I even like mowing so my only downside is the 25 min drive to Lowes/Home Depot when I need things. I can live with that.
  25. It will fall under unlimited. MSRP is higher than $1000. There won’t be any Anschutz that would be accepted in Factory class.
