  1. This has been going on since the beginning of time. They just acquire a new target depending on the day. I do like the term as it succinctly states the reality.
  2. Or just SBR them from the get go and don't worry about it. The amount of money and time most spend bitching about it, they could just get a stamp and be done with it. This isn't a statement on if we should need stamps to start with simply that it isn't that hard or expensive to just get one.
  3. Good deal, not for me. Ok deal, maybe. If it is near new condition I would say the gun is worth $800. Some wear, closer to 650-700. Basic weaver scope can mean many different things. Things are high now so maybe they have went up, but I wouldn't pay more than $750 for it with scope if I was looking for a good deal. If it is perfect and has one of the really nice old gloss weaver scopes, then maybe $850.
  4. A little while back I posted about obtaining this pair of rifles. I know we have some 22 guys that will appreciate these. These are consecutive serial numbered Remington 40xb's from the CMP. What's somewhat rare about these is 1) They are part of a small Air Force run towards the end of the government contract for 40x's and 2) they are as close to new as you will find out of the CMP. In one case there is zero wear on the lugs or the lug raceways. The other has so little I bet it hasn't been cycled 100 times. The only real downside is the bolt's don't match the guns, but that's basically the way it is with CMP guns. Anyway, I found a pair of excellent condition 20x Unertl's to go on them. I have had mounts on order for 8 weeks and they finally came in yesterday. Headed to a buddies this afternoon to shoot these. I love shooting my custom 22's, but something about shooting these old guns is so satisfying.
  5. Yes, both the Browning and Winchester versions were made by Miroku. There where more Winchesters made than Brownings.
  6. They are nice rifles. I have had both the browning version (52C) and the Winchester version (52B). They are about like any other rifle out there today, some shoot great, some not so much. I have shot some originals and the same holds true. Some are better than others although they probably have less variation than new ones, but they were also no slam dunk. Unless you want to spend thousands on a real 52C Sporter it's about your only option. If possible, try to find them with the rings. The browning rings can be a bit hard to find at times. Only reason I sold mine is I didn't shoot them and I have kind of got out of keeping guns I never shoot.
  7. Easy, get rid of all of the "crap" and focus on what's needed. You know, kind of like a normal person has to do with their own budget. Novel idea I know.
  8. Can't we just reroute the Mississippi around the other side of Memphis and call it good.
  9. They said some of the BLM protestors had guns so I think he has a pretty good case of pulling it. Then again, we know how logic fits into the equation most of the time. I bet the others were justified even if he wasn't of course.
  10. Thanks. That’s kind of what I had in mind. I will probably do alfalfa and clover to start.
  11. I am going to till up some areas around my property to put in food plots. Anyone have any recommendations on what to plant. I figured I will do some clover, but I have heard alfalfa is good as well. I will probably do 2 or 3 so I can mix it up as well. Anyone had really good luck with anything they would recommend?
  12. I will say it. Quit being cheap asses and support a site that you come to in order to get the information you NEED, but yet you aren't willing to spend $35 to be a benefactor? Do you smoke, drink, drink coffee, or just have a hobby? Maybe I am way off base, but I waste $35 on week on stupid ####. You get a whole year. Quit being cheap! If you value the service, invest a small bit in it so it is here in the future when you need it again. Or maybe go somewhere else and find it. It pisses me off to no end to see people bitch about spending $35 but they don't flinch to spend $1000 on a new phone.
  13. Fake news. He needs to get off of Facebook.
  14. I would like to say ignorance, but it's much worse than that. We can't say it on this forum. Probably for the best.
  15. I always remove at least the price if I don't also remove the entire add. For me, the problem is A) I prefer not to have everyone know what I bought (and have) as well as what I paid for everything so I do the same for others and B) I think it just adds to the thought that everything is overpriced because someone can see that it sold 2 years ago for X amount. I figure most have an idea of what the going price is for what they are looking at. I would use Gunbroker and look at recent sales (which actually sold) as my barometer. To each his own. Why A is important is because as I mentioned earlier, I do buy many items by saying I'll take it in the thread. I see both sides, but prefer that anything I buy be wiped from the post (and future searches of people on the interweb).
  16. I am ok with either, but in many cases I prefer a public I'll take it gets it. Only reason is it's there for everyone to see and the buyer can be held accountable. The chance you take as a buyer is that you better be sure you are taking it one way or the other. I have done it and once I got there thought, man not really as nice as it looked, but them's the beans as they say. My word means something so I won't back out unless it was egregious like posting photo's of a different gun, etc, but that doesn't happen here (I hope).
  17. This is nothing more than doing an interview at the trailer park after a Tornado. You know exactly what you are going get.
  18. That I am not sure about, but I believe that is what the sentencing guidelines would be based upon. I am not a lawyer, just have a fair idea of why they charge them with multiple counts.
  19. They charge them with all counts they think they can prove. The jury can find them guilty or not guilty on all of the charges, so it is possible he would have only been found guilty of the least charge. It's so they don't have to have three cases, etc (which they can't do as explained below). The prosecution has to prove things to different levels for each of them. For example, first degree murder requires premeditation. 2nd degree doesn't, so if the jury didn't think someone premeditated the murder, they could still convict them on 2nd degree and not first. Each has different sentencing options and guidelines in most cases. You also don't do them each separately because you can't try someone for the same crime twice. So if they only charged someone with first degree murder and that person wasn't convicted, they can't come back and charge you with second.
  20. Hozzie

    Squeal!!

Why in the world let him go. I would have put my knee is his back until he was begging for his mother and the police arrived.
  21. I am sure this will be seen as Racist by some, but why don't we see the same level of shootings in other "poor" areas. There are plenty of poor areas in the US. The "socio" is more of a problem than the "poor".
  22. I didn't say there wasn't. I simply said there is already enough money. They just need to stop spending 2 million dollars researching the reproductive notions of the three eyed, one legged, red breasted chicken moth and place priorities on the items that do something for the people. If you want to see just how "important" all of this is to the people, let people decide what "causes" they are willing to spend their tax money on when they pay their taxes. Add as much as you want to any cause you want. I'll wait and see how many are willing to pay more for any of them.
  23. There are people that belong in asylums and those that don't. I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other. My mom and grandmother both worked at a Mental Hospital when I was growing up. There were some things that weren't great, but if you ask most anyone that worked there, the people in it needed to be there. It is less about the people there and more about the policies and procedures applied to those people. I think that can absolutely be improved without much argument from anyone. Like anything, we know much more today that we did 30 years ago when many of these institutions were phasing out. Erik, to your point, you are correct, I am not interested in higher taxes to fix this issue. We don't need to raise taxes to do it. We need to stop spending money on stupid #### that provides zero value to the US or it's people and put that money into things that do help us. Our government has enough money to do a lot of things, they simply choose not to. I think the bigger issue which will never be solved is the exploitation of tragic events. It's all about money as is everything else in life. These news organizations in many ways glorify these terrible events and give people who are already on the edge the view that everyone is being wronged in some form or fashion and people need to stand up. Ultimately, I am willing to accept that bad things are going to happen. You hope they don't happen to you or someone you care about, but at the end of the day, life goes on. If you think there is a fix for any of this I have some ocean front property in AZ to sell you.
  24. Go into a situation with someone shooting at you in a confined space where bullet can Ricochet and try to stop the threat. It’s a risk these cops take everyday. These decisions are made in a split second. not directed at you Chuck, but I think too many lose sight of the reality that things happen so fast you just react. Sometimes bad things happen. Doesn’t mean anyone did anything wrong.
  25. No one is forcing anyone to buy anything. Do what makes you feel good...or don't.. That's ok. To each his own. If a brand spanking new guy comes to market with a gun I want at a fair price, I will at least inquire. You can tell most times if they are trouble or not just by the way they respond to questions.
