I use the Saddle Shop in Triune a lot and have never had any issues.

I 100% agree. I guess my point is more of why do we continue to offer. The Republicans would have you think we must continue to give them these items or somehow we are the bad guys. I am definitely not saying we should be against them either, but let them deal with it, we have enough to deal with here.

I guess I just don't get it. As far as I am concerned, it's time for Isreal to take care of themselves and not expect us to "cheer" for them. I am tired of taking care of everyone. That doesn't mean that I am anti-semetic nor does it mean that I am a supporter of their adversaries. It just means I am sick of all of it. I am sick of all religions thinking they are better than the others or this or that. They have fought for 3000 years and will continue for another 3000. Let them figure it out. This isn't the stone ages anymore. We have enough to worry about here in our own Country, State's, Towns, and neighborhoods. Let's focus on that.

In general, I always try to give the local guy a chance. I understand it is hard for them to compete sometimes, but in the end, the money in my pocket is worth more than the possible convenience of needing them to do something for me. I have bought a lot of guns online and can't say I have ever had one issue. I am also at the point where I am collecting higher end guns, so the extra tax is usually in the $80 $150 range, which is a big addition to a usually higher price to start. I am always thinking about resale in a worst case scenario, and that extra tax makes it hard not to lose a lot of money. I actually try to buy used, like new first, but that is a different discussion. I think for someone that really needs someone to assist them down the road, then buying from a local vendor is great for the extra services they can provide. For those of us that really know what we want and aren't really needing/wanting that extra service, it makes sense to buy online if it is that much cheaper. I think there is a market for both, but local stores shouldn't get offended at the idea that someone wants the absolute best value for them. Defining what makes up that value is different for everyone.

Unless it is stolen, then yes, you would kick yourself.

I doubt he likes Romney/Ryan anymore than his dad does, but he is "towing the line" to give a perception of unity.

GOP Commits Suicide By Nominating Romney and Ignoring Ron Paul
Hozzie replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I don't think the GOP committed suicide, but it was pretty crappy they didn't give a fair representation of the votes. The Repub's are no better than the Dem's when it comes to how they play politics, it just makes them feel better about themselves to put themselves on their imaginary pedestal. I give ArmyVeteran credit for standing up for what he believes. You don't like what he has to say, move on. We need more people who are willing to lead and not be popular. I hope the Republicans take Christie's advice from last night. They need to earn respect and not worry about being loved. Right now, neither the Repub's or Dem's have my respect. However, Ron Paul does. You may not agree with him a little or a lot, but I don't think anyone thinks he is pandering. I don't think the same can be said of the other two. -
Actually, the squares are made of cabinet trim that I forty-fived on each side to make the square. Inside of each one of those is 3' section of 1" black pipe with the screw on connectors that I could screw into the top and floor to keep it secure. I put my presses right over one of the pipes so there is plenty of support directly under the press.

Ignore my messy desk in the last photo, I have to still build the matching bottom desk, but I have plenty of storage. I really like the Pat Marlins ROCKDock aluminum press mount made for swapping out presses and it allows me to keep them out of the way when I am not using them. It is rock solid when tightened down.

How did you feel the first time you carried?
Hozzie replied to dieewigeteufel's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I open carried my Kimber to Cracker Barrel where a bunch of us were meeting before one of the gun shows in Murfreesboro. I wouldn't say I was nervous, but I also made it a point not to "look" like I was even thinking about it. I didn't have any issues even open carrying. My friends say I look like a cop so no one even gave me a second look. This was a couple of years ago before all the gun buster signs went up. -
3 Gun Nation Pro/Am at Rockcastle starts friday
Hozzie replied to RWF's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
I just had Benny Hill build me a 9mm open gun. I may have to go up and meet him in person. Now if he could just get my magazine parts in. A new gun with no mags = no fun. -
Unfortunately, it points out how asinine our politics have really become. It's now us the good people vs them the bad people on everything, not we the people.

I hope it wasn't someone on here. Is it really that hard to understand you can't take a gun on a plane? Seems we are constantly fighting our own stupidity. http://www.wsmv.com/...ational-airport

I am also one that doesn't like to give my personal information. I will show my HCP and that should be sufficient to let the person know that I am legal as a buyer. I have never asked a seller for a bill of sale. If you are worried about someone doing something illegal after the fact, just keep a record of the date of sale and persons name. I suspect you know their name most of the time, but giving someone I don't know my DL or address isn't going to happen most of the time. If you sell online, keep a record of their email address. If anything serious would happen, law enforcement could use that to try and track someone down.

I didn't find any steals on guns, but bought a fair amount of powder and primers from David. As usual, best deal on reloading items around.

Been there, done that as well. I found this to be the best solution. Tomato juice doesn't work (at least in my opinion). Do this twice and it will take 95% of the smell out. You will have to deal with a little smell for a couple of days. 1 quart 3% Hydrogen Peroxide 1/4 cup Baking Soda 1 teaspoon liquid soap (Dawn Dishwashing Detergent is often recommended, but any dish soap will work) Rubber or latex gloves Mix in an open container (bucket or bowl); it will be fizzy, a clue that you shouldn't try to mix it or store it in a bottle or other closed container. Thoroughly wet your dog with warm water and then the solution while it is still bubbline. Knead it well into his coat, to chemically alter every bit of the thiols on his hair. Be careful to keep the formula out if the dog's eyes, nose and mouth; you can use a sponge to carefully wipe it onto his face. Let the solution stand for 10 minutes before rinsing. Follow the bath with a thorough rinse. Be sure to protect the eyes when rinsing the head.

Whittakers is the best gun store in KY/TN region. You won't find better prices or a better selection. Don't hesitate to order from them and have it shipped to your FFL. You may also want to consider the 452 American for $369. I personally prefer a 452 over the 455, but that's just me. Just know that their phone line is always busy. You will have to keep trying.

I would go with a standard. I have seen more of the target models shoot worse than the standard $200 base model. Put the extra money in an aftermarket trigger kit like the volqaurtsen and get an aftermarket barrel for the same amount of money. Again, just my opinion.

I have all of them and will give my opinion, take it as that. I base my information on my following guns; Complete KIDD Supergrade 10/22 - $$$$ Stock 10/22 Deluxe - $ CZ 453 Varmint 17HMR - $$ CZ 452 Military Trainer - $ CZ 452 FS 22 WMR- $$ CZ 452 Ultra Lux - $$ Savage 93FVSS 17HMR - $ As you mentioned that you want something to mimic a centerfire for cheap training and you want something that the kids can start to learn with, I absolutely recommend the CZ (either 452 or 453). There are merits to the many different models and I will be glad to give my opinion on that as well, but I won't go into that detail here. So why the CZ? Quality. This will have the best fit and finish and overall level of quality out of the box. This is important to me because I think if you use this gun to train your kids, it can truly be an hierloom quality gun that your kids can keep and pass down. This for me is probably the most important reason to go with the CZ. Accuracy. I think the Savage and CZ are capable of being equal in this category out of the box. The 10/22 will be ok, but will need some work to get up to speed with the others. My KIDD SuperGrade costs 4x as much as my CZ Trainer for comparable accuracy - sometimes. Open Sites and Peep Sites. For me, I think kids should start to learn with open sites and even learn how to use peep sites. I think they are fun for games and improve marksmenship. For me, the CZ gives me the best options for open sites, peep sites, and eventually a scope, all on the same gun. The other two don't really handle peep sites as well in my opinion. Single Shot Adaptors - Again for Kids, I am a proponent of learning one shot at a time to understand mechanics and safety. You can get these for the CZ and Savage. Trigger - the Savage Accutrigger is probably the best out of the box, but with a simple modification, I think the CZ trigger can be made better overall. The 10/22 trigger is terrible out of the box. It can also be improved, but not to the level of the CZ unless you get into high end replacements like the Kidd trigger. (Which I would also highly recommend) If nothing else, go back to #1. If overall fit and finish isn't as important, you can't go wrong with the Savage. It will shoot straight and have a good trigger (Accutrigger models) out of the box. It will also be a little cheaper than the CZ most of the time. The 10/22 is fun, but I think I would recommend it for a little later after the kids learn how to shoot with a bolt gun. My 4 1/2 cents. Good luck with your purchase.

Chief Justice Roberts Is A Genius? Your thoughts?

I also think we (you and I) aren't that far apart, but swap liberal for conservative and vice versa in your statement and I guarantee that 99% of liberals feel the same way. It goes back to my statement early on about we believe what we want to believe, not always what is the truth. -

Hozzie replied to Steelharp's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
You make my point exactly. Unfortunately, there are as many, if not more on the other side who think the same thing about you, that your beliefs and ideals are wrong. Bad news for you is that there are more of them than you I am afraid. I actually think there are more middle of the road people now, but as with anything the extremists on both sides get the sound bite. It sells better. I guess getting nothing you want is better than trying to improve some things, even if that means its a detriment to your own life? I just don't get how anyone thinks no compromise is better for the country. We will just have to agree to disagree. That's the great part about this country, we can do that. -

This goes back to my Ideology statement. I actually 100% agree with you. Work or starve. BUT, that's not reality. We can think that is the way it should be all we want, but for every one of us, there are two who think the government should provide everything. The only way we make progress is to meet somewhere in the middle, but no one wants to do that. Instead, we would all like to bitch about the other and let things spiral down so far we can't fix it. -

Hozzie replied to Steelharp's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I won't disagree with you on that either. However, find me one other government who has done it right and where you would want to live? The fact is, a government will never be run like a household no matter how much we think it should be (meaning that if you don't have the money to pay for something, you just don't get it or it gets taken away). It unfortunate, but money AND power makes everyone stupid. -

Hozzie replied to Steelharp's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I will agree with that. The government is not good at managing any program, but it doesn't necessarily mean that the program is bad. As with anything, I do believe there are parts that will need to be changed, but I get tired of the constant black and white bickering (no pun intended). No one wants to work together anymore. Everything is too ideological and that will be our demise. -

Too late. It's not IF, we do have an electorate comprised of irresponsible takers. This is just one of many programs that people will also abuse. It's hard to tax those that don't pay tax to begin with. I am not republican or democrat, but I find it somewhat amusing that we all act like experts in this area. All you hear is either the Republican talking points or the Democrat talking points. As with everything, the truth is somewhere in the middle and I for one am willing to admit I don't know or think any of us know what this will ultimately do to the healthcare system. For every expert on one side, there is an expert on the other. As with everything politics, we only listen to what we would like to believe. I realize I am against what most may believe here, but a simple question. If you already have healthcare via a job or medicare, you won't be "taxed". If you decide to be responsible if you don't have healthcare and purchase it yourself, you won't be "taxed". If you can't afford it or just decide not to pay it, you will be taxed to help cover a portion of your expenses. I am not sure I see the big problem with the "tax". Sure, there are other issues like access, options, etc, but I don't get the hangup with the "tax" other than it's an excuse to play politics. If you think this is the reason they will then be able to tax anything else and force you to have something, I am of the opinion that has already happened. The politicians do whatever they want anyway. The issue isn't the tax, it's simply that we spend more than we have and people don't take responsibility for anything. It's a give me world and unfortunately, those of us that give are outnumbered by those that take.
