Good, this is what we need. Even if Lamar doesn't want to, he may think he has to in order to save his own hide in TN. Even if he does join Cruz and the others, I still won't vote for him, but hopefully this forces his hand.

I did a lot of research before I bought mine and ended up with the Nikon RifleHunter 550. I forget where I found the comparisons but it was a very well known publication. They tested Zeiss, Leupold, Nikon, and a few other higher end rangefinders. They did say the Zeiss had the best optics, but it wasn't the highest recommended. Believe it or not, for various reasons, the Nikon was selected and the best value rangefinder out of all of them. I don't have a single thing bad to say about mine. It's a bit more than the $200 for the ProStaff, but it may be worth looking into.

Guidelines Regarding Law Enforcement Threads on TGO
Hozzie replied to MacGyver's topic in General Chat
I spent 10 minutes typing out a response and accidentally hit the back button. I hate that :pleased: . So this time I'll keep it short. I agree with you, 99% of all responses should not be personal, but sometimes I think it warrants itself as long as it is backed up by why someone feels that way. I would hope anyone with a lick of sense would not get personal about a situation like the DUI example you give. Unfortunately, common sense isn't so common anymore. -
Guidelines Regarding Law Enforcement Threads on TGO
Hozzie replied to MacGyver's topic in General Chat
This is the exact issue I have with all of this. I think the LEO topic was used as the example and I am sure the intention was actually to point out something much bigger which is basically, think about what you say. Again, if the rule for LEO threads is that it must relate to TN, then all threads should relate to TN if that is the standard by which we are going by now. I don't actually think that was the intention, but used as an example which probably in the end wasn't the best. I could also be wrong on this, maybe they really do want to limit all of this to just things in TN. We have people from more than just TN on this board and I think the goal is to discuss all kinds of topics, even if some aren't directly related to TN, or even guns for that matter. If someone's only goal is to bash a specific person or group of people, please do so with some level of thought and tact. Robert, you are very good at this meaning you always give a good reason for your opinion, even if others disagree. I have to admit, sometimes it is hard to not respond to some things in a personal way. When someone makes a statement, especially a very opinionated statement, they should expect some level of personal response to that opinion. Your opinion does represent you, you cannot simply hide behind your computer and say it's just my opinion so don't respond to me personally. At the end of all of this, I don't think anything has changed or will change other than hopefully everyone will think a little more about what they say. As the old adage goes, it's not what you say, it's how you say it. -
It was as I expected, it went out of stock before my order was completed even though I did pay. To their credit, they did immediately refund my money.

No, they don't have an online store. You just have to call them. Be prepared to try them on the phone many times, they only have one line. The other option is to send them a message on facebook with your number and they will call you back. If they have it, it will most likely beats Buds, but they do charge around $25 or $30 for shipping so factor that in. Like most other places they will charge 2 or 2.5% for credit cards. No charge for a debit card. I was there a few weeks ago and picked up an STI Trojan 9mm.

I think it is hit and miss there. I bought a GP100 5" there for a great price.

I think that you will find those that are buying custom receivers are not using anything else from a regular 10/22 to complete the build outside of the magazine. People may get rid of everything but the receiver, but I don't think you're just going to find a receiver sitting around and if you do, most people probably have plans for it. You may be better off to sell all of your extra parts and then put that money with whatever you think it would take to buy a receiver and just buy a new or used complete gun. I am confident you will not find a receiver for less than $150. It just doesn't make sense to sell them for less than that. You can buy a new complete rifle for just over $200. This is my KIDD SuperGrade. Only stock part is the magazine.

Guidelines Regarding Law Enforcement Threads on TGO
Hozzie replied to MacGyver's topic in General Chat
At the end of the day, I don't really care one way or the other about this rule because I don't typically bash cops and I don't start bashing threads so it won't affect me, but the same sentence could be used for many threads on TGO. But, it's too easy and not at all fair to the dialog to paint all gays with a flaming homo, liberal brush But, it's too easy and not at all fair to the dialog to paint all muslims with a crazy jihadist brush But, it's too easy and not at all fair to the dialog to paint all democrats with a "they are driving this county into the ground brush"......ok, I got ahead of myself a little on this one, but I think you get the idea. :pleased: It seems a bit arbitrary to me that this is the only topic being addressed. At the end of the day, I think this is a place where people want to spend time because they can discuss these items. I would argue that one of the reasons many like to discuss these types of items here is because we do have such a large membership and we enjoy the verbal debate with people whom for the most part we know where they stand and in most cases respect enough to agree to disagree. It's the Staff's call to how they want to handle it, but it should be applied across the board, not just to "bad cops". -
There are a lot of video's of it on youtube. I think tandemkross also has a video on their site.

Guidelines Regarding Law Enforcement Threads on TGO
Hozzie replied to MacGyver's topic in General Chat
I think that is the case with almost any thread. People believe what they want to believe no matter of the facts most of the time. Half of all threads are nothing more than speculation and gossip. Granted, facts change over time, but I don't think the rule or reason to not allow a topic can be "are all the facts available?". For me, this whole thing resolves itself if we address the people with the issue, not the topic in general. Get rid of the one's who want nothing more than to disparage a group of people and these types of posts will become less and less. There are times I think some of these topics are necessary, but it shouldn't be anyone's sole purpose for being on this board. -
Guidelines Regarding Law Enforcement Threads on TGO
Hozzie replied to MacGyver's topic in General Chat
While I understand the general idea, I don't know if I completely agree that these stories should just be limited to those that take place in TN. There are many threads that I think are relevant to firearms and are important to discuss in specific relation to how more and more law enforcement seem to be going beyond their rights. I understand it completely, they have a tough job. In fact, I work with them on a daily basis and probably understand their job as well as most, but let's fix this problem, these posters who seem to have a hard on for cops, not the topic itself. To be honest, I am as tired of the same people complaining about the Gays, or ObamaCare, or many of the other topics that have nothing to do with firearms. Just because we are linked by our love of guns, doesn't mean that we agree on all things and if we start to limit what we can and can't discuss just because in this case, some use this forum to point out things they don't like, then lets stop all of the other non-relevant things as well. Actually, if we want to stop one thing, lets stop posts that only start with a link. If you take the time to link to something, at least give your opinion. -
I didn't get one at all but I was charged. I think it was simply a case where by the time I paid and it went back to the confirmation page, they were sold out. I sent an email Friday asking for clarification, but with a question about them being real, I figured I would just ask for a refund anyway.

I will just have PayPal get me my money back. I emailed them about my order and no response at all. Sounds like it will be best to just scrap the whole thing.

/\ I think this is correct from everything I have read. I am also planning to build a 300 BLK Pistol. Got most everything ordered today to complete the build. If I end up getting a second receiver set I will make a 204 Ruger Varmint Rifle. From what I understand, as long as the lower was not bought with a buttstock, has not had a buttstock on it before it was made into a pistol, and was not transferred as a rifle (to TDR's point), then it is legal. As long as you first make a pistol and don't put a buttstock on it with the pistol upper, you are legal. It's really quite silly as the same gun can be considered a Pistol or SBR simply by if it had a buttstock on the lower when you bought it and depending how it was transferred. Someone else may correct me, but from everything I have read, that is correct.

I think most people (including me) would tell you that quality would go: Colt > Smith/Bushmaster >DPMS. Without going into a lot of detail and specs and geek talk, if all you want is a serviceable rifle, any of them will work. For under $1000, you will get as many opinions as you find people. I would go look at a few and pick the one you like in your price range.
-
I think an optics ready is around $800 or so. I don't have anything bad to say about Bushmaster, but in that range, I would personally go with a S&W (and i have one also). I also have had very high end AR's, but for just a basic AR, S&W is a great value and reliability is excellent. My main question would be, what do you want to do with it. If you want to Varmint hunt or something, then my recommendation would change, but for just a normal AR, Smith's are good.
-
Best value in my view is the Smith and Wesson's.
-
While I agree with you, it also is as bad the other way. Buyers who want a $315 dollar gun for $200 because it is used, even if it is as new in box. There will always be sellers asking too much and buyers offering too little. It just depends how bad you want something I guess. At least you can get a new one, so if the market is that bad and you really want it, it may be worth just buying it new.

It's a stretch (and by stretch, I mean conspiracy theory stretch), but this guy is from Texas and it is the first attack on a military installation since Ft. Hood. Wonder if by any chance these guys new Hassan??? It's a way long shot, but just popped into my mind. Even if they don't know him, I'll be curious to see if they are Muslim.
-
Thanks for the links. I am starting to buy the things I need to build my two new rifles once we get our uppers and lowers. I ordered a McGowen Barrel for 300 blk pistol as well. Looking forward to getting everything and getting them put together.
-
Reports say there were multiple gunman, 2 or 3. If they did have AR's, they obviously weren't military or I would expect many more casualties if they were working together.
-
No, saw some Deer and the crows went crazy, but no Coyotes.
-
Agreed, went out this morning to try and call some Coyote's with my new caller. It was nice to sit in the blind and just enjoy being outside.
-
Thanks, glad you will get yours. I'm not so sure about mine.
