I thought the same thing. I would hope that maybe Airbus would have helped him out. I can see that being a great air show demo on a regular basis.

Pretty impressive. http://m.core77.com/blog/transportation/from_the_holy_cow_department_watch_as_this_guy_flies--and_lands--a_115-scale_remote_controlled_airbus_a380__25928.asp

What will I need for reloading?
Hozzie replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I am not a Lee fan myself (and I have used them). I think any beginner should start with a single stage press and go from there. You will always need a single stage in my opinion. I think the best qulaity to value right now is the RCBS Rockchucker Supreme kit. It's on sale at midway. Add a set of RCBS dies and get the $50 back from RCBS. You will need more, but it will get you the basics and get you off to a good start. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/937051/rcbs-rock-chucker-supreme-master-single-stage-press-kit Or add this to it and get the $50 off with rebate. I like having a separate stand for my powder measure. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/125792/rcbs-advanced-powder-measure-stand -
I think 300 WSM is here to stay, but it will never be as readily available or cheap as 30-06 or 300WM. I have one and like it, so I am not saying don't get one, just know what you are getting. I reload and have plenty of brass since it isn't a gun you go out and shoot a lot for the fun of it. If you don't reload, I would probably go with a 308 for a short action 30cal rifle. If all you are doing is shooting deer or smaller, you may consider a .260, but again ammo isn't as readily available. Although this last go around, 308 wasn't easy to find either.

I got one ordered yesterday, so no problem for me, but I was hoping some others could take advantage if they were looking for one. -
LEM 3/4 HP Meat Grinder at Rural King for $299

Must have just been for Saturday. Looks to be back up to $399. -
They obviously haven't had a 120 pound tire with 100+ PSI and spinning at 70 MPH blow out next to their window. God forbid it be a steer tire.
You can say that again. I had one blow a tire in front of me as I was changing lanes to pass it and the tread flew up and over my car. I was lucky it didnt hit my windshield. Sent from my GT-N5110 using Tapatalk

I have been contemplating getting a good meat grinder and ran across this deal. It's $100 less than anywhere else I have seen it. It's backordered, but that's ok for me. I thought anyone else looking for a good grinder may be interested. http://www.ruralking.com/lem-12-lb-12-3-4-hp-electric-grinder-w780.html Sent from my GT-N5110 using Tapatalk

Opinion on defending your chickens
Hozzie replied to THneo's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Probably wouldn't have faced charges since they jumped your fence, but it may not have been worth the hassle. I would try to find out who's dogs they were and put them on notice. It should be said that I like dogs more than people so I wouldn't shoot one unless it was attacking my dog or me. I personally don't put chickens up there that high, but hey, I understand you might. They shouldn't do it and you shouldn't have to put up with it. I think any decent neighbor would try to resolve the situation before shooting the dog unless they absolutely had to. I would probably start with animal control. -
I'm not a lawyer, but here's my two cents.....it doesn't matter if you do it now or later. Without getting into too much detail, a revocable trust is a revocable trust. You probably have no need for a corporate trust, which means there would be no tax filing necessary. It has nothing to do with being NFA or anything else whether you can do it now or later. The issue you are worried about will affect anyone with a trust (of any kind) after the new rules are in place. This means that anyone that has NFA items now would also have to comply by the new rules when they are implemented when applying for a new stamp. I don't know about how your guy will do it, but my trustee's and benefactors had to sign notarized documents stating they were a part of the trust and it defined what they were in the trust. Their names will be in the trust and you will have to supply it to the government, so thier names will be associated with the trust and the NFA items on the trust that you add to Schedule A. Your reasons are valid for wanting a trust, although one of the items proposed in the new rules is a free transfer to a rightful member of the estate upon death so that is actually an improvement over now. My main reason for the trust was also so a couple of other people could be in possession legally. The big change will be requiring fingerprints for anyone in the trust. So this in an of itself will be for everyone no matter when thier trust was created, now or 10 years ago. So, when the trust is created is irrelevant. It will be an issue of when you apply for your NFA stamp that dictates the rules you must abide by.

That's a tough sell I would imagine this time of year. I moved up to Endowment the last go around for $250 so that hasn't changed.

After yesterday...Impeachment should absolutely be on the table
Hozzie replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I don't disagree necessarily, but Impeachment still isn't going to happen. We can debate what the ACA tanking means (in my case all it means is that it won't support itself and it WILL move to a single payer system). It's just a matter of time. THat doesn't mean I like or will vote for it, but I think it will happen. -

Hozzie replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Won't ever happen. Let healthcare tank on its own and move to the "next to be" crisis, immigration. There is too close of split in the public to ever support impeachment. All it will do is hurt Republicans more as they will look like even bigger whiners that didn't get their way. In the end, no major change would come of trying to impeach him IMO. I am past doing what feels good if it is going to cost millions of wasted dollars to do so with no chance of actually happening. The fact is, we will slowly but surely move to a more European type of society (more taxes, more socialized programs, and more welfare). It may take 100 more years, but it will happen. -

Any know where to buy thick styrofoam shipping containers for meat?
Hozzie replied to Hozzie's topic in General Chat
Thanks for the link. I will go with a regular styrofoam cooler if I can't find one if the good ones. You can ship them air as long as they don't contain more than 5lbs of dry ice. The meat is cured so a couple of days should be fine. -
I want to send my brother some deer summer sausage that I had made and I am looking to buy one of those thick styrofoam coolers that I can put dry ice in with it to ship. Any idea where to get one locally in the Franklin/Nashville area? UPS and USPS don't carry them and I am drawing a blank where else to look. Thanks.

I have bought a couple of guns from them. Their pricing is usually very good. The shipping took a little longer than I liked (about a week and a half before it actually shipped), but everything was received as expected. I would buy from them again with no worries.

Yeah, good point. I didn't even think about WMA's. I have never hunted one so it didn't even cross my mind. I am always on private property so it isn't a problem.
-
Take it back to where you hunt and throw it out. The coyotes will have it eaten and cleaned up by morning. The bones won't hurt anything. Or just throw it in a heavy garbage bag and take it to the dump. It isn't any worse than other rotting meat in the dump. Just double bag it.

I like mine a lot. I find that most people like whatever they have and they all do the job. I think it is more about what features you want. I had a TC Omega Z5 and while it was fine, I realized that I preferred a break action for ease of accessing the breech plug and cleaning, not to mention it makes it easier to put the primer in. Quite honestly, I think most of the main manufacturer's are decent, you just have to decide what you want. This is the one that I got. http://grabagun.com/thompson-center-triumph-bone-coll-50c-camo-blk.html I liked the way it looked and I liked the idea of of the shock absorbing stock. I would figure out what you want to spend and surely there will be a more than adequate ML in that range. My only real recommendation is to look for a break action, but other's may have a different opinion.

Yeah, I claim sales tax every year. I am very fortunate to make a good living so it doesn't help me that much. I am not complaining about that per se, it is just how much does one person really need to pay to make up their share? I realize a lot of people think some should pay more, but I am not really into the whole "for the better of society crowd". I am in the let them support themselves crowd. I don't mind paying my share, but my share is getting out of control.
