  1. Sportsman's Warehouse gets two each Monday. They check them in around two or they will hold for 24 hours. $519. Three weeks ago. If the XDS is any indication the 9 and 40 should be available a year from now.
  2. Looks like some stuff worth considering.
  3. I ordered all of the rest of the parts from joebobs. Decent selection competetive prices, ordered last night it all shipped today. Slick guns discount. Midway and Brownells neither had everything in stock.
  4. I guess this was an impulse item for me. I have sort of lost my zeal for one of these. I have a number of handguns that will get the job done that mostly fit the niche the XDs occupies. No way I'm going to pocket carry it...too heavy so if I am going to IWB or OWB I may as well carry my S&W M&P .40c with 4 more rounds and about the same weight. Or a .357 Magnum (M&P340) revolver in my pocket with only one less round and cut the weight in half. I am still interested in the Shield single stack 9mm though. Don't know why?
  5. That was fast. The upper arrived in three days from the time I ordered it!! BCM sent along a hat, posters, stickers and a couple of CDs on tactics and AR shooting. Lowers should be showing up at the FFL soon.
  6. joebob's service is very impressive to say the least. I think that the minute my FFL's fax hit their machine the lowers were out the door!! Anyone have an opinion on the Geissele SSA-E vs the SSA? Is the -E worth $30 more? I'm not in the military, a LEO or bench shooter. I think the SSA seems to be head and shoulders above most standard triggers and that it should be a good choice. One more question. I am assuming I want a military diameter stock tube and that apparently both commercial and mil-spec must work in a stripped lower? I haven't looked at the stocks yet, anything to be aware of other than diameter? Springs, weights etc.
  7. Someone suggested joeboboutfitters in KS. I checked on their inventory and although many of the recognizable items were out of stock and on back order, I got the following: Mega Arms stripped forged lower 124 LAR Grizzly stripped lower teflon coated 105 SlickGuns.com discount -11.44 Total 217.46 Free Shipping My FFL usually does me $10 each transfer on two or more items. Call it $118 per stripped lower. I ordered them this morning and they shipped (today) the same day. BCM has already shipped the upper.
  8. Palmetto is cleaned out, so are many others including BCM, Stag etc; unless you want to pay $200 plus for somthing that two months ago was $100 or less. Guess I'll grab a CTD and give it a try. You can never have too many lowers right? Thanks for the counsel. I'm not going to cut any corners. I'm to try a Geissle two stage trigger. That alone is $180 and that's not the high end, like the 3 gun version.
  9. Guess I should go to Walmart and buy one for parts.
  10. It's amazing the upper I bought went up over $110 in two months!! Inflation? Supply and demand? The Election?
  11. Trying to find a stripped lower these days is a bit of a challenge. Unless you want to pay way over the what it should be price of like no more than $100. Let me know if you run on any decent product by one of the majors for a reasonable price.
  12. I am going to do a first AR build for a winter project. It's a learning project and there are no big financial constraints but I do want to keep it in reason. I have yet to research all the components yet. I have already purchased a complete upper (BCM 16 inch Midlength) flat top, BCG and Charging Handle I went the 16 route. I already have an AR 1n a fixed 14.5 inch. This is the look I am working towards: Any suggestions, do's and don'ts? What is the best manual/book with clear guidance or instructions you have found ?
  13. Crisis takes a much longer time coming than you think, and happens much faster than you would have thought. All Truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as self-evident.
  14. What we need is the final Battle of Tours II and an army of Charles Martels. Those who don't think this is a Holy War are sadly mistaken and our POTUS is not on the side of the Christian soldier. Oh I forgot, you are right that feeling you have. It is the collapse of the world financial system. It's 70 million Baby Boomers slowly crushing SS, Medicare and Medicaid retiring at the rate of 10K per day. Read and Follow: www.zerohedge.com On a long enough timeline the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.
  15. I went to the website trying to figure out that rig there. If you don't mind my asking.....what did it run $?
  16. Looks something like this and will then work on a backpack strap too. ESEE Izula II From this To This Allows for comfortable Horizontal wear, strong side or cross draw.
  17. Yes you can shop out the individual items on Amazon in some cases. But not all.
  18. http://www.countycomm.com/whatsnew.html If you aren't familiar with Countycomm...I have purchased a number of items from this outfit. Good service sometimes limited quantities. Tough to not end up with less than a $100 order.
  19. Does anyone make a good horizontal knife/sheath combo that I could carry on my belt in the small of my back. See what you think about an ESEE Izula with a G Clip or Tek loc. http://www.knifecenter.com/item/SPGCLIP/Spyderco-G-CLIP-5-Position-Carry-Clip-for-Fixed-Blades This is where I purchased my G Clip.

  21. The Sitka is a great day pack for two, and especially in the summer where you just don't need any more bag. Here are a few I use regularly. I was recently in Wyoming and went to a walk in clinic. The Doc did outback rescue. He had a nice light bivy bag by SOL they have a couple different styles even make a survival jacket. I see Sportsman's Warehouse had a couple of the bags. Better than space blankets for colder weather but still quite small.
  22. I loaded the following into the Sitka: Blue jeans size 38 Long sleeved Tee Socks Boxers (stuffed in shoes) Running Shorts (REI) Very substantial Marmot Rain Jacket Merrell Lowcut Hiking Shoes Nylon Belt Small Roll Duck Tape Two flashlights Water Bottle Kahr PM9 Extra Mag Small Holster 4 Energy Bars Compass (outside) Cell Phone Holder outside (Droid X size) Large and Small Knife (one outside) Very small first aid kit Water Purification Straw I have added a couple of external Molle Style pouches for fast access items including the first aid kit, one of the flashlights and SAK. Total Weight about 10 lbs This is definitely a full load for this bag, but it can be done easily. If I would have left the shoes out or perhaps lighter more compact water shoes, sandles etc there would have been much more room. Large and Small Knife (one outside) Here is a comparison of a Wenger Computer Bag you see all over the airports with a Sitka I usually have this bag set up as an equipment bag. Even with all this I could add shorts, Tee.
  23. I'm sure McGee Engineering and MTE have good products but its difficult to know with the sub par pictorial representations. Mr. McGee may I make a marketing suggestion? Please get a good camera, tripod and better lighting or hire someone. I want to see details when I am looking at expensive items. Machining quality, color rendition, reflector detail etc. Thanks for your consideration.
