http://www.amazon.com/Mountain-Man-ebook/dp/B006MV7I6U I just finished the Mountain Man series. Good stuff. I now talk to The Captain too. Augustus Berry lives a day-to-day existence comprised of waking up, getting drunk, and preparing for the inevitable day when "they" will come up the side of his mountain and penetrate his fortress. Living on the outskirts of a city and scavenging for whatever supplies remain after civilization died two years ago, Gus knows that every time he goes down into undead suburbia could be his last. Contains graphic language and scenes of violence. The Complete Series Order: Book 1: Mountain Man Book 2: Safari Book 3: Hellifax Also : The Hospital (a single short story, also part of the collection "Cauldron Gristle." This story happens six months before the events of "Mountain Man." ) "Mountain Man" has been optioned for film.

The Remaining http://www.amazon.com/The-Remaining-ebook/dp/B0070B0JW6 Darn good zombie read. In a steel-and-lead-encased bunker 20 feet below the basement level of his house, a soldier waits for his final orders. On the surface, a plague ravages the planet, infecting over 90% of the populace. The bacterium burrows through the brain, destroying all signs of humanity and leaving behind little more than base, prehistoric instincts. The infected turn into hyper-aggressive predators, with an insatiable desire to kill and feed. Some day soon, the soldier will have to open the hatch to his bunker, and step out into this new wasteland, to complete his mission: SUBVENIRE REFECTUS.

.38 spl in a L Frame. Nice and easy 48 rounds. I was one of few revolver shooters. Mine was the only handgun that interested the Instructor.

I like the look. My PM9 is black...DLC.

Arrived today the fifth as promised. Five days.
-
I placed the order yesterday afternoon. Order processed today and is scheduled to arrive on the fifth. I would say they have them in stock!! Coming from SWFA in TX. They get high marks. A little higher price than Optics Planet, but I am a bit burned out on them right now. If they don't have it in stock fuggitaboutit.

I placed an order this afternoon with SWFA. M-308 BDC Reticle. I received an acknowledgement of receipt. Probably will get a delivery date or not tomorrow .

Through March Nikon has reduced the M-308 price by $100. Comes with caps, mount, adjustable parallax and generous eye relief. Both BDC and Nikoplex versions apply. http://www.opticsplanet.com/nikon-m-308-4-16x42-rifle-scope.html?adlens_source=google&ef_id=UIMAsAAATygbgUwh:20130228043333:s I have been considering this or a Vortex for an AR10A. http://www.opticsplanet.com/vortex-optics-viper-hs-2-5-10x44-30mm-tube-water-proof-rifle-scopes.html I most likely wouldn't use OP on this purchase. Probably SWFA.

Do not use the finger tip as noted earlier. Mid index finger pad to first inside joint is where the pressure is to be exerted and Upon release the trigger finger will be in the ready position, not on the trigger. Holster design is model specific to ensure proper operation.

I have one for my S&W 642. I have also carried my 340 in it, but supposedly it's not to be used with a .357. I posted an extensive review....with photos. http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=554071&page=49&highlight=Serpa I want one for my XDm 3.8 .45 but they aren't making one yet.

Started out with a mini and eventually went the AR route. More versatile platform. But I wouldn't get rid of the mini. I would really like an M1A Scout another $1500 from now. And a Savage bolt Scout would be great also.

You may want to check with Bravo Company Manufacturing for parts and or uppers. They are a premier supplier though and are typically wiped out as of late. Also someone here introduced me to joeboboutfitters and they have been great to work with and prices are good.

All these items are up for grabs on many levels. EBR, Ammo, Mags. These are going to be taxed, regulated, moderated, and ultimately confiscated (aka voluntary relinquishment). I would get myself a 12 gauge semi-auto shotgun with no pistol grip and an extended tube that would be able to be put back to standard easily. Mossburg 930SX, FN SLP, Benelli M2 comes to mind. There is a version that has an 18 inch barrel w/o the extended magazine. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/37_336/products_id/52355/Mossberg+930SX+12g+18"+8SH+CB+GRS+MAT last price 606. You may be able to find these at your LGS...maybe. In a rifle I would be looking at something like a Savage scout style bolt action in .308. You should be able to find some high end ammo enough to put together 100 rounds. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/43531 Damn, they had these the other day. Open sights or glass it. I would wait for the hoopla to play out. No sense in purchasing something you are going to have to turn in soon. You would then have 0-25 yards plus covered with your handgun and shotgun and out to 200 easily with the .308

This old ban garbage will eventually blow over. This old ban garbage will eventually blow over. This old ban garbage will eventually blow over. Just keep telling yourselves that.

Better to have both, but given the choice of one or the other these days I would take the lower. Things are about to become very strange in the world of guns.
-
This is easy. Buy low, sell high. If you are concerned about civil unrest and didn't ever get around getting an EBR or two, or are concerned paying high $$ just to have your EBR taxed, regulated, confiscated and not be able to sell them or pass on to your heirs..... I would look at a nice scout bolt, lever or long range bolt action rifle. Go the to local store and see what obscure ammo is left on the shelf and match the hatch to the rifle. At least you will have somthing (maybe) legal and a couple hundred rounds. A nice Marlin in 45-70 might be in order.

Well three months later I finally finished my latest AR and first lower assembly. I used some directions from the InterWeb but didn't dig too deep until later as specific issues came up. Many of the resources that are available (on the Web)I didn't use and just sort of stumbled through much of the assembly. Doing it over again now I could cut 75% off the assembly time. It's nice to know now the fundamentals so if I ever stumbled on an AR I could pretty much take it apart, troubleshoot it and put it back together. I purchased a full set of spare parts to supplement what I had for my first. I also bought some punches and a vice block for holding lowers in place while working on them. I went with a middle of the road trigger group, RRA National match 2 stage which is very nice. Clean crisp break. I now know what "glass rod breaking" means. Glad I purchased the two lowers when I did. I used the Mega Arms on this and everthing fit well and tight. Now it is time for some BUIS and eventually some optics this year. But not right away since the Feds has decided it will be reducing my income this year and pissing it up a rope somewhere. I did order some anti-creep/roll pins for the trigger group and an ambi safety. Well this one is finished just in time to have it made illegal and eventually confiscated.

I have held both and fired neither. I liked the ergonomics of the Shield better. Neither are pocket guns IMO. Good for IWB. I'll probably pick up a shield nine in a year or so after the prices come back down to earth....that is at 400 or less. I would look at and prefer a Kahr CM9 over the PPS. I have had a PM9 for years and it's hard to beat after all these years. http://www.kahr.com/Pistols/Kahr-CW9.asp Only comes with one magazine.

Boberg XR9-S. A little on the pricey side but nice size plus P rated package none the less. I believe the triggers have been improved the Kahr PM9 IIRC. I like my PM9.

This Company is in Michigan, so no State Sales Tax. My interest is renewed. I thought they might be in TN. I like Maxpedition Gear. I have a Sitka and a Jumbo Versipack. Good stuff.

This is my first Springfield Armory handgun and first .45 ACP a XDm 3.8. I was thinking about the XDs and finally found a LGS that had both, XDs and XDm 3.8. Benton's. I was able to handle both and dry fire each. I thought the trigger much smoother on the 3.8. Since I had no illusions what so ever of ever pocket carrying either of these I will likely be carrying IWB, OWB or in a carry bag. Weight and thickness isn't a big factor. I liked the light pipe on the S, but that wasn't enough reason to select it. I can always change the sights on the 3.8 which aren't anything special. I did like the capacity of the 3.8. 9+1 or with the extended magazine, 13+1 versus 5 or 6 plus 1. The Springfield case and accessory kit is nice, but if I could deduct $60 for it I would. One of these days I will get to the range. Here a few comparison shots with a M&P 40c. Fit and finish is very good and commesurate with a mid range price polymer such as a M&P or Walther P series.

I don't own a .45 but would like one or two. I'm not sure if the XDs is one of them or not. I'd like to find one first at about $499. Since I don't consider the XDS a pocket gun I'm liking the XDM 3.8 with a greater capacity.

David how do you manage pocket carrying 25 ounces? Plus holster. I find a PM9 annoyingly heavy in the pocket as it is. About all I can tolerate is 5 rounds of .357 magnum at 15 ounces in the pocket. They look good and the ergonomics aren't bad.
