Glad you are here. Welcome.

Welcome from Tellico. And ditto, thanks for your service.

Welcome. Other than a .22 pistol of some preference a .22 rifle is a must and a great place to start with family friendly and economical shooting. I bought the least expensive 10/22 I could find with a synthetic stock. It was dead on right out of the box. Picked up 4 extra magazines, a few thousand rounds of ammunition and that base is pretty much covered.

Sportsman's Warehouse in Chattanooga had the XD 9 and .40 compacts on sale last week for $419. Maybe I should have picked that .40 up?

I have had one for three years. Mine had to go back to Kahr once after the "break-in" to be reworked. Customer service was good and the turnaround was reasonable. It has been reliable since with an additional 200 plus rounds of three varying JHP Personal Defense rounds I "qualified" it with. I like the ergonomics and trigger. Some think it is "mushy". Kind of like a shortened version of the HK LEM in my view and feel. The nearest competition is the Rohrbaugh for almost 1K. The R9 does not lock open on the last round and has no mag release button, only the funky euro tab on the bottom. 7 rounds of 9mm is stronger than 5 rounds of .38 spl plus P. or 7 rounds of .380 IMO, but I use all of the aforementioned for pocket carry. Seecamp Kahr S&W revolver M&P 340. I think you will like it.

If your 88 has the dual slide bars and pinned slide you have to replace the tube and nuts to be able to add a different foregrip. Apparently some have the tube already and would be able to accomodate a different grip (that which would fit the 500). Every time I think I am going to do this I don't, although it seems that the parts needed not including the foregrip is about $60 from Mossberg. Shotgunworld.com • Index page This is an interesting shotgun site and forum, and I am sure if you spend some time here this question has been asked 100s of times. While looking into this I did get interested in the Hogue youth stock, shorter than normal for heavy clothing or vest wear. Does it fit the 88 now is the big question. I got the 88 as a gift so I am not complaining but if I were making a buy I would stick to the Remington 870 first then Mossberg 500 next as far as being able to customize. Hope this helps.

That grip will provide multi-axis control. Keep practicing, it will become second nature and you will develop "muscle memory". Do grip exercise for strengthening and a lot of dry firing (which is ok to do, per S&W).

to shooting lighter weight snubs, and the less the weight the more felt recoil is a proper (almost death) grip. Here is Jerry Miculek showing proper form: It must be very tightly held. I have 3 J frames and enjoy the challenge. Try some 3 five drills. 5 rounds, 5 feet, 5 seconds.

and welcome aboard. Never enough money for guns.

Swamprunner Sayeth: Big Ten Basketball, NFL Hockey, and the Tigers aren't doing bad this year. Then there are Detroit Lions. Big Ten Football...Yeah, yeah. I spent 20 years in FL. So we will see how the Big Orange fares this year. I would hope this IS NOT a rebuilding year. I would love to see a can of TN whoopazz opened up on FL and AL.

with a medium voltage electrical equipment manufacturer. We'll keep the lights on for you. Sometimes, but not always.

Guess that means you and your Company IS NOT doing the work on the FT Loudon Dam Bridge. Wish you were. ======================================================

I filed April 14th. Nothing yet. I really don't care since my FL permit is valid in TN on an interim basis.
-
Submitted everything on April 14th and still nothing. I think 90 days is the rule these days. They are swamped!! My fingerprints were on file electronically and I have already been permitted prior (albeit another State). Fortunately my FL CCW is in effect while TN is processing.

A comparison of: Walther PPS, Kahr PM9, KT PF9 Again, Walther, Kahr, KT. Keltec in my view is too large for the pocket. Walther too Heavy and ergonomically the Walther didn't work for me. Here is a comparison of a Rohrbaugh R9S and a Kahr MK40, same size as a PM9. I don't particularly care for the Euro mag drop. Very slow and inconvenient. I don't think the R9 has a slide lock on the last round. The Kahr has both conventional mag release and locks back on the last round. Here is a Seecamp LWS 32/380 vs R9 And a Seecamp vs Walther PPK

a nice comparison of small handguns. Bobo's pocket auto comparison chart - THR My Three Favorites: Seecamp LWS .380 Compared to a J Frame Centennial Next M&P 340 .357 J Frame Centennial XS Tritium sights with Crimson Trace 405 grips. Then Kahr PM9 I pocket carry all of these. Fastest out of the pocket M&P 340 from a Mika Roundcut Holster.

a basement. One year in the making. Getting there. Man Cave, Loading Center. Gun safe in the Next Room Over. 1/4 Starboard on the Bench.

The someday retirement man cave. I have suffered w/o a basement living in FL for 20 years...it's tough to load in a garage when the feels like temp is 102 and the humidity is 98%. Well Put...the foundation of a sound relationship: Gregg Sayeth: I have them all but small rifle. I going to Atlanta next week...maybe, just maybe.

the setup. I don't go at much lightly.... Like I said, I now have a basement/shop and TN winters to devote to loading/reloading. The Room Parts/Components Loading Bench Bench is covered with black 1/4 inch Starboard. Stuff

through the exercise recently, and still don't have everything I "need" I will take an estimated stab at my present outlay. I have not pulled the handle yet, that is to say I have not loaded a single round. I'm not in any hurry, it has taken me two years of "putzing" and going it alone to get everything I needed. Much of this is due to my lack of diligence, the marketplace (scarcity/leadtime) of components and raw materials and recent demand increase in loading/reloading interest. Thanks Mr. President. Based on a Hornady LnL Progressive. Necessary items to reload: .45, .38/357, .223. I still need to spend another $100 or there abouts for a tumbler and media for same. Probably another $100 in odds and ends. I will hazard a guess....$1000 to 1200. in round numbers. I have probably enough materials to do 500-1000 rounds of said rounds. Not bad for a hobby that gives back. I did it to learn something new. Something to do now that I have a basement and winters. Good investment in today's social condition. Hornady could do themselves a favor by including a list of things that are: Necessary to continue after the purchase of the basic press. Nicities, but not necessary. Luxuries. I spoke to a factory representative who sent me a list of things I needed. Nice since it took me a year of stumbling around myself to get to that point. There are some good videos on You Tube, take them with a grain of salt of course, but most of the people know what they are doing.
