Sportsman Warehouse had two on Monday. I wanted to buy one at the decent price of $515. This was 10 AM. They said they wouldn't have them checked in until 3 PM. They wouldn't hold it for 72 hours. I had to push on to Alabama and couldn't get back for a couple days. Called Wednesday morning and they were both sold. Called Benton's since I was kind of in the area. They had a duo-tone for 595. I don't want a duo.

I have been wearing the Remora IWB 3BB with the small sweat shield around for a couple of days. I do like the non clip arrangement and can adjust the cant and depth of carry to my liking. Can even do cross draw weak side. I have been wearing it at about 3:30 position. I even sat in my Jeep for a few minutes and didn't have to adjust. I could do an hours drive w/o a problem. Wear it between undershorts and shorts/slacks. The material is very "grippy" so I found that there wasn't any movement, but I wasn't running or doing jumping jacks. I got a mag holder in the same material for the pocket or IWB. Since I didn't order with the Kydex mouth holder/opener, once the gun is drawn, there is no way to reinsert it w/o holster removal as the mouth collapses. I'm still thinking about the scenarios where once removed in real life use, would I need to put it back in the holser, or would i take the holster out and put the entire thing in my pocket? I'm thinking if I have to use it in real life....what are the various contingencies? Alan with Remora recommended the one I bought, I can always exchange it. Here are some photos. Hopefully a range report one of these days. Boberg, Kahr PM9 with Pearce Grip and CT laser, Seecamp LWS .380 J Frame M&P 340 with CT Grips as compared with.

I inherited one of these 99e in 300 Savage. I always wondered how the rotary mechanism loaded. Mine doesn't have the schnable forend. Highly rated medium game rifle such as deer and black bear. I'll bet being such a handy rifle it would make an effective hog gun. IIRC the most common round is about 160 gr. Thanks for pointing out the Hickock review.

Good choice on the PPQ. Good ergonomics IMO and outstanding out of the box trigger.

XDS is going to have to wait until the prices "get real". I'm not paying over MSRP. If you look on Gunbroker there are quite a few so that's a good sign. Hopefully Benton's will get some soon too. They usually price them like they want to sell them.

I ordered a Remora IWB holster for it a couple days ago. Should be here any day. Now if I could just get away from work to shoot one. Got a fifty pack of critical duty 135gr plus P to try in it.

I had a chance to handle one yesterday. I liked it. Figured it being a Springfield the bore axis height might be excessive, but not the case. Ambi mag release was such I could almost use either side. I think I would rather XS Dot night sights as opposed to the light pipe. I thought the trigger on the one I handled better than what I thought it wold be based on some of the reviews. I don't have a .45, this may be my first. The dual tone at Gander was $650 so I passed on that price until I can find one on Buds which should happen in a few months. There are plenty on GB now so the pipeline seems to be full.

I'm happy with what I am carrying these days too. Three choices depending on conditions. Seecamp .380 S&W M&P 340 Revolver with CT Grips Kahr PM9 with CT Pretty much covers most circumstances and it will take awhile before the Boberg makes the cut. Reliability, ammo check, holster etc. I think at least 6 months and 4-5 range trips before I will feel comfortable with it. Performance wise with "average" plus P, the Boberg performs almost identically with the G26.

How about a link to the Boberg remora. Don't see the brand in the fit chart. Thanks in advance.

Rusty glad you have had a positive experience. What holster(s) do you use? I take it you sold the other two?

I went on the Boberg waiting list last December and recently my "number" came up. Just took delivery of two consecutively SN Platinum XR9-S. Boberg is approaching 1000 units according to my serial numbers. I am going to reserve judgement on performance until I get some first hand experience but many of the early reports are very good. I like the idea of being able to run Plus P full time and having a true magazine release (compared with Rohrbaugh). Reportedly the recoil is very mild. http://www.bobergarm...otes/XR9_Shorty The nearest handgun I have to this currently is a PM9. Here is a report with some "modern" 9mm and the Tester expects slightly better performance with the Boberg's longer barrel. http://mousegunaddic...-135-grain.html Caliber: 9mm / 9mm+P (compatible ammo list) Capacity: 7+1 Length: 5.1†Height: 4.2†Width: 0.96†Weight: 17.5 oz with magazine, unloaded Barrel Length: 3.35â€; The Platinum Edition's aircraft-grade aluminum frame has a proprietary Nickel/Chrome Satin Sheen finish - a Boberg Arms exclusive that no other firearm manufacturer can offer. The trigger, transfer bar and all exposed parts are zirconia-finished natural stainless steel. Zytel grips in Black.

I don't care what you say, I thinks it is very cool. I like it. I remember being next to someone at the range with their PLR... Had to leave the area it was so loud (indoors). I was investigating setting up a trust to do a SBR and silencer yesterday and to put all my firearms into for posterity's sake. Nice rig.

I have a Jet Boil and have used it for 3 years. They are very efficient for liquids. What makes it such is the built in wind defector and coil system concentrator that keeps the heat on the dedicated pots. Great for backpacking since all items store in a pot and are light weight. The peizo ignitor on mine was DOA, I didn't bother sending it back or getting another. I always pack sufficient fire sticks/lighters etc to light it. The fuel cannisters come in two sizes now. The smaller ones will prepare sufficient coffee and dinner for two for three to four days. I have whipped up some wicked one pot meals with mine. Progresso Wedding soup heated to a boil with four brats boiling at the same time. Yum. I also have a single burner Coleman propane in my "survival" gear along with other types of stoves. Wish I had my Optimus Stoves from the 70s. Those things were self pressurizing and burned anything. We cooked on them with Pemex Gasoline for months in Mexico. White gasoline was a US luxury.

Glad you discovered revolvers. I started the opposite route but like a revolver better. Just look and feel better. I started with a 686 3 inch (L Frame) which is a wonderfully versatile revolver. I then bought some snubs, (J Frames) for carry. Last year I was bound and determined to get two classics, the models 19 and 66 (K Frames) in 2.5 inch. Which I did. With the exception of two of my snubs, I can shoot .38 spl, .38 spl plus P and .357 Magnum, which provides substantial versatility at the range to field and personal protection. model 66 stainless model 19 blue 686 CS-1 3 inch Customs Service with a standard bead blasted finish M-60 stainless 2 inch barrel, .38 spl. All are lock free.

http://www.knifework...iikitblack.aspx I can EDC this around the neck carry in the pocket or wear on the belt. The sheath also accepts Tek-Lok or MOLLE locks. Nice setup. ESEE Izula II.

S&W 686 3inch CS-1 in 97 percent for $275 five years ago. They go for $750 plus now.

I looked held and dry fired one at Benton's yesterday. It won't do anything better than my PM9 its heavier and no CT laser yet. I passed. Ergonomics was good. I'm waiting for the new single stack 45 from Springfield. None through Benton's yet.

I researched the same and came to the conclusion that di was right for me. I wanted something as light as possible. I did a BCM mid length. EAG, like the Filthy 14. My next AR is a DI also in 7.62. Armalite. Both of these were in the 1400 range. I hear great things about the S&w MP sport. Great price too.

I have a p99 with the AS (anti stress) trigger in .40. I like the da/sa trigger of the AS. The P99 and the PPQ ergonomics are my favorite. Better than the MP, Hk, and SIG, but that's my fit. The PPQ trigger gets high marks. The P99 in AS is still in production. The QA is not. If you google those items, there are many reviews. Your choice then is PPQ or a long search for an AS.

You can emulate a 9Pro. Are there 9Ls around? You can do a 4.25 add an Apex kit, Dawson sights or those of your choice. My compact 40 trigger came stock better than my 9 pro 5 inch trigger. Tough to find .45 compacts these days too.

I have been trying to find new or near new quality in a 25+ year old gun at today's new prices and the new ones aren't the quality nor do they have the class of a 66 or a 19 or 28. Yeah I don't think I would buy new tupperware at a gun show. No real redeeming reason there when you probably can do better at Bud's. Unless you want to support your local businesses. Some of the ammo prices aren't bad by the time you put the tax against shipping. There was a Benchmade knife I passed on and unless it was a knockoff it was reasonable. There was a nice Springfield MIA Scout that wasn't priced too bad...too bad it had the green furniture. There was also a decent selection of 5.56 uppers.

The ergonomics on the P99 and PPQ are outstanding. I couldn't find anything that felt better. Number one for me, Walther, number 2 M&P. I have the AS trigger and it is outstanding. I hear good things about the PPQ.

Why is that? I have gone to two show in K'Ville. One at Chillhowee Park and this RK Show. There are lots of non gun stuff, kind of a flea market. Hence I guess if you pay 9-10 to get in and only want guns, then maybe you don't get your money's worth. I went there looking for one gun and found four to choose from. Otherwise it would have taken month scouring local stores, pawn shops, and I am not particularly enthused buying something I can't see and hold, like GA, or GB, unless it is NIB.

I have been become fond of the model 19 and 66 2.5 inch S&W revolvers. .357 Magnum in a K Frame. I recently purchased a NIB 19-4, so nice I'm going to look at it for awhile before subjecting it to the range. The 19 and photos of the 66 convinced me I needed a stainless for carry. My plan was to find one that was suitably used so I wouldn't be tempted to put it away. Pretty much worked out as planned. Went to a gun show in Knoxville, TN this weekend and waited for the last day and the last two hours thinking whatever was left might be subject to better prices. I was surprised to find four 66s in 2.5 inch, one too nice and the (box didn't match) a bit pricey. One that was mechanically deficient although in good cosmetic shape; one that was beat to death and too expensive for the condition, and this one. Never fired (supposedly) very light turn line, locks up tight, box (not a SN match) and tools. I would describe it as 99.5%. 66-2 S&W K Frame in .357, and it is not going in the safe. There, now I have the 19 and 66 out of my system I'm moving on. Think I am going to start with a TT Grip adder and maybe some Jerry Miculek's later.
