Wyle E. is skeered! Super nice group and thanks for a data point on a scope. I'll be needing one this fall for a new flattop entering the stable here just for that purpose.

Sold mine earlier this year. You'd like it though. Just buy one.

Contact these folks and see if they have openings or connections to others who do. It's a start. Yellow Rabbit Hunting Club

Actually have no idea as our lease was a sweetheart deal. The land that adjoins my brothers property in Wayne Co was just sitting there so he contacted the owner in Alabama and offered to post it, have a presence there to keep the trash dumpers and such off and we pay his county taxes plus a little bit. We also have insurance on it. Runs me about 200 to 250 a year depending on who all gets in every year. We usually have about 6 to 8 people. More people, less of a fee. Of course more people means more people. 6 folks hunting almost 600 acres works out pretty well. I'd say it would depend on if the group was leasing for profit or just trying to get enough people on board to pay the taxes and harvest some deer and making friends. The friends thing will be your best deal.

Sadly, IMHO, most current voters just think about the dollars in a program for them. I'm all about KEEPING dollars, but if someone says govt is the answer to jobs again I'm gonna puke. I will try to hold it till I get to Strels area of operations though as he likes those that give.

Couple of things. I would offer but I don't know how much hunting I'll get to do myself this year. As limited as it will probably be, there won't be much time to plan AND it's in south central TN. Probably a Sat and a Sun morn if that and back to work. Quite a trip for you guys. Another issue is unless someone will teach you on public lands, hunting areas are harder and harder to come by. Now, my suggestion is if you and ftncityfatboy are serious, get in on a lease. That way your guaranteed a spot to hunt. Next, change your offer to teach us to learn BEFORE the season. Use a camera as your gun. Start the first of September before bow season. Same thing, only hotter and with bugs. Start deciding now if your a ground hunter or a tree hunter. Where your lease is and what's available on it helps that decision. Mostly field, go ground blind. Wooded, go with a cheap ladder stand or invest in a climbing stand. They are not hard to master. You might even be able to negotiate some training from members of the lease. Offer dinner and beverage of choice, most hunters don't mind sharing the methods, just not the spots!! I'm no Jim Bridger but I usually knock my share down every year depending on how many times I get out there. Feel free to PM your questions for the "book" portion of the learning and start making friends in your area!! Lesson one. Go out on your back porch and sit perfectly still till birds, squirrels, other wildlife begins to do it's thing nearby. That's 80% in my book. Just being able to not be seen and they (deer) see ALL movement! Scent control is fairly easy and done before you get in the stand. Holler

I'm sure caliperboy will be along soon to tell us it's a lie. He just won't say why, just like Haslam. I also had not heard this but I'm just prognosticating on what another board member will say. Kinda of like predicting Bronker likes his pancakes.

All I really wanted was the "Here we go" part but you can enjoy the rest.

He would have had a free testicular smash vasectomy as I pulled the stick up into his junk! Then we could both laugh after he got done coughing up some blood and could speak with no squeak. Yeah, that would be fun!

Being in middle TN now and not close to the K'town goings on like I used to be (UT 81-85) (lived there 90-97) I don't get the details like I used to. Which lies are you upset about with Haslam. The one where he's stated nothing but generalities? Or the one where he was working with Mayors Against Guns? Perhaps that he supported Al Gore in an alternative, earlier life? Are there more? Being associated with Bloomberg was enough for me. The rest were just icing. Please inform and educate.

White House says 75 percent of spilled oil gone
Rightwinger replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The reports coming out last week when they were looking for the under surface plumes was that the oil eating microbes had done a much better job than expected. The only portion of the oil they can't exist on is the heavier stuff getting close to tar and asphalt. My worry is growing a super cell of hungry microbes over some of the largest reserves that might have leaks could result in all that oil getting gobbled up. -
Please enlighten me how Haslam or any government entity can create jobs? They produce NOTHING. The only thing productive a government can do is get out of the way and keep an honest court in place so that when the greedy (and it's both big parties equally) get out of hand. That's it. They can reduce taxes as incentive to get a company to park here (less gov) but they end up taking the losses from some other source as they never quit taking. This is for everyone to chew on, not picking on you Magic, you just said it first. I'm going to start figuring out how to start my party. It will align with conservatives and tea party minded folks. I'm calling it the Atlas party. I also think that if you designate yourself republican or democrat in the primary, you have to vote that way in the November elections. That will keep the snot rats from playing the numbers.
-
He's a freaking democrat that put an R in front of his name to get elected! He never made a statement with any integrity, never answered any hard questions. If I had 8 million plus bucks I could win a primary too cuz I can say "I'm a nice guy, I have a nice family and I support the 2nd amendment" then go do what ever I wanted after as well. Screw Haslam. If we are okay putting him in because he can't do to much damage as stated previously, we can also live with NOT putting him in because he is a lying sack O' crap!

Just saw Mike state a truth, that small business led us out of the previous two recessions and they aren't doing that in this one. His solution, a program to help small business.... Okay, I can't vote for either. Write in that crazy dude that didn't even get enough votes to be shown on TV, Basil? Here's your program Mike.....leave us all the hell alone. Get gov out of the way. I'm pissed.

Yep, just told the wife that Mac Mac will be the known evil. No way I will vote for that lying, no honor piece of crap Haslam. Never even tried to own his mistakes.

barewoolf, my offer still stands, we need to compare book lists and swap for a while. I don't "PIF" Larry Niven books, well, most of my books but I do lend them. I usually go through them every few years and the ones that have not been re-read several times get selected for the trip to a bookstore for store credit and the collection continues. I have three full book cases for you to peruse and probably everything Niven has pushed out, even the collaboration material. I also have all the Dune series, both Franks's and his son's prequels and sequels. It would be a weekend thing but I need to go through and dust so I might go ahead and catalog what I got. Start putting your stuff in a spread sheet or something and we can swap so we don't have to keep re-reading the same things constantly.

Voted at 8 this morning. Had to weave through about 7 candidates to get to the polls but our little town had 4 machines rolling and was in and out in about 10 minutes. Go Ramsey!

I'd say your ignitor gave up the ghost because of the heat cycling. It was okay because it was always on until they turned gas off and let it cool. Now that it's going again, won't reach the temp needed to open your gas valve. Get the cost on the ignitor and replace. Not tough as stated above. Just be cautious.

Nasa scientists braced for 'solar tsunami' to hit earth
Rightwinger replied to a topic in General Chat
Oh and the real reason I came here to post. I did see some weak but clearly visible aurora while traveling south of Nashville to go hunting a few years back. I was just about to get on I-65 off 840 when I kept thinking I saw this green cloud back towards Nashville (north west). I stopped just before the exit ramps and was very protected from Franklin's city lights by distance and those hills for anyone whose done 840. It looked like a fluffy semi transparent green cloud. I got out to make sure I did not have a reflection on the truck windows and no, it was there. I kinda figured it must be aurora or the govt was back blasting on HARPP...LOL. Heard on the news the next night that one of the more energetic storms had forced the Aurora down over the mid and northern US and I was lucky enough to see a portion of it. Probably 3 or 4 years ago if anyone else recalls seeing or hearing about it. -

They got it all wrong. That thing is Hugh Hefner's little black book. He started it in his 20's. And yes, you are correct, he just ran out of room on it. He'd still be writing numbers down but he can't recall why he needs to. One of the first numbers on it is to the design manager for DIRT. -
I now have a 6P, courtesy of our resident expert. I'm thinking I was in denial about my light addiction until I brought this one home. It led me to have it out for everyday use. I had the TLR-1 on the XD45 ready. I also have the Streamlight NF-1 Nightfighter in the Maxpedition so it's ready to go. So, what about those other lights. I started going through them and between the mini mags and the plain jane "grab a light" from Walmart for the kids, I have about 10 lights lying about the house. The kids lose them, I find them back.....familial recycling. I think I'll have to admit though, I like having the higher end lights. Mini-mags are what you hand the kids when they want to go outside at night and find crawdads in your back yard...A Surefire is to be kept close and at the ready, by someone who appreciates it. (Your supposed to be hearing that rising tide of music going to crescendo now). So unless you find it difficult to see and have light flash burns across exposed portions of your body from just "looking at" your collection, rock on light brothers, yes rock on .... ow my freaking eyes! Quit that 56...people in Nashville are trying to sleep!
