  1. I will at least get my attempt in next weekend. Pulling out the trusty old Savage 110 30-06 since Rock River has not decided to grace me with my 458 upper. That's okay, I'm very comfortable with the tried and true Savage. Just want to put a few round through her Friday to ensure the zero is still set at 100. Good luck everyone, hope there's lots of pics of great deer next Monday!
  2. Good...will still be cool. And snake, tick, chigger, spider, zombie free. I'm calling out dead for the summer one now...hate the heat.
  3. Hey Lagerhead, I found your modesty in the bed of my truck, you wanna come get this thing? Was wondering why my MPG's had dropped to 3. LOL
  4. till we got hot and came out of the coats!
  5. I tried to pick up frost balls twice..but I would much rather do this in cold weather and shed the jacket than do it in summer when you just melt. Thanks for picking it up and running 56, great job !
  6. Or made his changes and forgot to hit the old "submit" button. I almost did that a few weeks ago. Lucky I looked at the matchup and saw I had guys with BYE weeks still in the line up.
  7. All is well. Auto systems did their auto things. Mom and Pop still met, I'm here, but who is this person that posted above?
  8. I don't know if I need to or not ! What a dilemma. The laptop has the "auto" setting to go back on DST. My watch is an auto update via the Atomic clock radio signal and the cell phone I use as an alarm (but not a phone) is linked to the local tower for time so it should set back. If I set them back, I might time warp or something and end up watching my parents date or something! !
  9. Magiccarpetrides has been doing this service for years! It is a great idea for anyone considering a deal across the state to put it out there to the group and see who's going to be moving around. Just make sure you remember em for future pay it forward!
  10. The only thing I would add to Firerescue's info is you should look at having a solid stock (A2, Ace, RRA Operators like on mine) or a lockable collapsible as the recoil is a bit more substantial than with the 5.56. There have been incidents where a standard 6 position stock has "collapsed" during firing causing issues for the shooter. The worst one I heard of was the fellow had a pretty thick beard that had to be field trimmed to allow him to extract himself. The only other thing I have had to do on some magazines is tweak the feed lips to allow for a more aggressive "upward" angle of the round to allow better feeding on the 300 grain Remington JHPs I use for hunting. That consisted of taking some needle nose pliers and raising the forward edge of the feed lips just a hair. I've also dremeled some half moon cuts in the front of the mags to allow for easier unloading. Other than that, what you have in your current AR selection will work for the big bore 458. Just get you an upper and go shoot!
  11. Mohawk Tenn Star and 458 marked lower mounted to an RRA Entry Tactical upper. I have since replaced the standard plastic pistol grip with a Hogue.
  12. Mine went together very tightly with Rock River Arms upper. Still waiting on the 458 upper. I guess if I had to nitpick, there were a few spots on the front of the magwell that could have been buffed a bit more before anodizing but they are unnoticable from a normal view distance. I'll post pics of the build once the upper comes in.
  13. Electrical wire running on ground to his right leg when you see him full body shot just before the "rifle" is fired.
  14. Get up in a tree. Keep quiet. De-scent as best you can. If you were seeing deer during archery, you'll be fine for muzzle loader. +1 on getting the rifle scoped and zeroed. Speed loaders are nice but generally if you miss, that attempt is done. I did have one occasion back when I used a caps rifle before 209's became the standard that went "pop" instead of bang on one dumb doe. She was amazed at this critter up in a tree that made popping sounds then moved around to carefully stick a pipe cleaner down the nipple and reload another cap. She went home with me as she did not want to pollute the gene pool.
  15. Did you tell Marty you knew me MacGyver? If not......good! LOL it will probably keep your costs down. Marty is a fantastic craftsman and all around good guy. Don't forget to ask him to put a Socom case gauge in the box with your upper. An extra 25 bucks well spent for your reloading. (He also has Redding Dies in stock at ridiculous prices)
  16. Just want you happy and well served. You shouldn't have to carry the burden's you do by yourself Strel. Like minded people and services are just waiting! Of course I think you have to register fancy fireplaces in your back yard over there....could be an issue.
  17. You should head to England immediately Strel. No guns, closer to the homeland. Universal Healthcare, close to France for when you tick them off. Paradise for ya! I only want the best for you! Airline tickets to England, Fly to England, Flights to England
  18. Sorry Jamie.
  19. How about just lowering the budget.....hmmmm, then the taxes will cover it.
  20. You were there! No one had clicked their fingers to let you out of the trance.... That wasn't very philosophical, you must still be wide awake.
  21. I'm there evenings after 4 and weekends. I answered your PM there chairborne, you just have to read em. Try again. I might let you buy the Armscor I have my eye on. I did check it out with a Para P14 mag and they are exact matches. It's a P14 clone! You probably just talked to Smith who has issues trying to sell guns, we are trying to teach him but he gets distracted by the shiny! See you when we see you Top.
  22. Leupold 3x - 9x VXII
  23. Purty, swing by sometime and I'll promise to wipe my fingerprints off of it!!
  24. Maybe with this cold snap hitting now, they will actually kick off the rut on time this year. Last year it was late. They were running does hard opening weekend of gun season down in Wayne Co. which was good for me and my brother but muzzle loader was dead. I usually don't rattle till I have seen some running or heard reports of them running does. Any earlier and it seems to have the reverse effect. LOL, I can usually shake some branches but can't figure out how to thump the ground from a climbing stand yet.
